Bungie have now started to give good details regarding what Bungie Aerospace is.

http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=bungie_aerospace

http://www.bungie.net/projects/aerospace/

Bungie Aerospace was created to help small, independent developers launch their mobile and social games.

Bungie Aerospace gives studios the creative freedom and the resources they need, like access to the Bungie.Netplatform and an audience with the incredible Bungie community, to launch entertainment experiences into orbit and to satisfy their own thirst for world domination.

Bungie Aerospace's success will lie in the strong partnerships we cultivate with independent developers. Each partnership will be tailored to the needs of your team and project, and may include:

  • Financial Resources
  • An Audience with our Kick Ass Community
  • PR & Marketing Support
  • QA/Testing & User Research
  • Release Management Support
  • Technology & Expertise for: Web, Servers, Database, and Back-end Services

From seasoned developers to college students if you have a passion for making great games on any mobile or social platform we want to hear from you.Bungie

Way to go, Bungie. Support those who may not be able to launch their own ideas without help. I'm very impressed.

I read it on Bnet when I saw your thread, and for some reason it reminds me of Valve and Steam.

Of course something like this would never happen if they were still under the tyrannical rule of MS.

Props 2 Bungie.

Bungie only got as big as they did because of the funding MS gave them. And XBLA provides a venue for a great many small independant studios to publish & distribute their works. Who's to say Aerospace wouldn't still happen under their partnership with MS?

MS would have their greedy little hands all over and shove Kinect support in it for the casual sale.

No, not really.

They can have their bad moments but Microsoft basically made Bungie. And XBLA is pretty damn amazing, it's something they should be proud of.

Bungie made themselves. Although they were not doing outstanding, they were developing Halo as a PC title. Now in typical microsoft fashion, they didnt have any game developer talent or any good IPs to sell their new console....so what do they do? (like always) They just buy someone else, and in this case, it was Bungie.

A company buying another company is completely normal in the any industry. Both Sony and Nintendo have bought companies before, it's no different with MS.

Noooo, Heil is completely right. Microsoft isn't even a legitimate coprporation. They're just a well disguised horde of monstrous raiders and pillagers, who will leave the earth a barren wasteland. So no matter how seemingly good or beneficial their support of a developer, or the online support model they provide, it CAN'T be good simply because it's Microsoft involved. I mean if it was the same thing with Sony, Nintendo, Valve, or whoever else, it would be totally cool. But by virtue of Microsoft's involvement, it must be assumed to be tainted and defiled.:roll::roll:

Oh and I am NOT defending MS in every regard. I recognize how they overcharge for peripherals, and aren't supporting first party as much as they could (or what ever else you want to complain about), but seriously, this extreme view of their "evil" in no way reflects reality.

One needs not look further than E3 to see MS's focus. If they are shoe horning the Kinect bs in ******* Halo :| :| :| you can bet your Laura Croft they are going to put it in every game possible and pressure 3rd party developers to do it as well. And considering where they were when I first bought my 360 in 2007 and now, well it's downright embarrassing. That IS reality. *kicks his 360*

So? It's not like those games where Kinect is central to the game schemes (Dance Central, Fight Club, Kinectimals, etc...). For Forza 4, Mass Effect 3, GRFS, it's all OPTIONAL. You don't have to buy a $150 peripheral to be able to play them and they'll still offer a satisfying core gaming experience. I know I won't.

You seem a little TOO focused on this one issue lately even though there are still other options available. Why do you have to bring up Kinect in every post you make?

Well you go ahead and like it, support it and play it and let MS you support the direction they are going it's only going to get worse. I choose to not go that direction of Kinect crap being shoved down my throat. I don't like it, the games are crap and I don't want any part of it. I don't even want to see the "Kinect enabled" on the box. I bought my 360 with the impression it wasn't going casual and see it's exclusives dry up like the mojave desert. Just look at this year, it's pathetic all thanks to MS wanting some of that Wii casual market.
