Here is a photo off IGN's fileshare back in August. As you can see, one of the images is of ONE OF THE NEW MAPS.
Shame on you bungie. Hold off one (or more, who knows!) of the maps to charge for the after release. You really are like Activision now.

a little respect... just because we are gamers doesnt mean we have to pretend we are rats. We are slightly better than rats, and we should be proud!
[QUOTE="PBSnipes"]Then it should be free. How will they feed their families. The need to sell the map packs. Maaaaappppp pppaaaaaaccckkkkssssssss. The first bit of DLC for a game is often content that for whatever reason was cut from the game at the 11th hour, so this really shouldn't be that big of a shock.

No argument here. Hell, even if it was brand-new content it should be free to make up for the indignity of having to play on Paradiso (sweet Jebus that map is terrible).
Yeah, but its got a badass name. See, Bungie knows how to spread the jelly.[QUOTE="tomarlyn"] Then it should be free. PBSnipes

ANYWAY! yea, DLC is one of the most annoying things this gen.
Why don't they just make a 50 map pack for $30, with the building tools already finished for the game it wouldn't be that hard.

I thought they spent countless hours testing these maps? Thats surprising to hear. They did, but plenty of developers spend hours testing their maps. They just miss a glaring issue that the "people that get too good at the game" learn to exploit. The Scorpions are pretty easy to kill on that map, but the Banshee can be a bit of a hassle at times. The vehicle maps haven't really been all that exciting in Reach. For once they seem like the weak points(outside of Blood Gulch)[QUOTE="PBSnipes"][QUOTE="tomarlyn"] Then it should be free. tomarlyn

How would it be MS's idea? Bungie isnt with micro anymore they signed with the devil-activision. Well MS publish Reach, owns Halo and fully control the XBL Marketplace. Didn't they make Valve charge for some Left 4 Dead DLC lately even though it was meant to be free? I think MS gets a royalty shock news is in, Microsoft like money, just like all business. they are not here to give away free stuff, if people buy it, they will sell it. its a business, not a charity for goodness sakes.
Enron liked money too.... perhaps we all just overreact when companies have questionable business practises. I mean it's only our money right?

I always forget about that. Still, MS published Halo Reach, so maybe they could of had a say in things.

ANYWAY! DLC bad, more content at release good.
whats the big surprise? its premium content that you dont have to buy if you dont want to. moaning on SW isn't going to stop companies selling DLC, its a new way of making money since, they dont get a penny from used game sales. dont want to buy, dont buy simples.sts106matI think you forget the meaning of a forum. Also I think everyone here is discussing the ethics of fake ''extra content'', not whether anyone wants it or not.
Don't get me started on the Cerberus Network and EA :x
fair enough. i agree with the cerberus network, i traded in my ME2, cause i dont want to get stiffed by them, i will likely get all the DLC with the inevitable GOTY edition of ME2. theres always a way.sts106matMy problem is my girlfriend (we live together) was the first to play ME2 with her 360 profile, so when I tried to play it the Cerberus Network was locked out. Had to start the original Mass Effect from scratch on her profile. Moving my saves to her profile didn't work either. EA told me I had to buy the Cerberus Network again or have it transferred from her ''EA profile'' to mine, thanks but no thanks, jerks.
you don't have to buy it so does it really matter?, so what if they didn't include the maps in the original package, Halo reach already had more content and features at launch than most other games out there and was already worth what i paid for it,some people are never satisfied, besides, they created the game they can do what they want with it.delta3074Yeah, those bulletpoint content and features are cool for bragging rights. However, when you have piss-poor gameplay it makes those irrelevant. They can whatever they want with it? Cool. I'm so glad I stopped bothering with consoles. It's this mindset that has you guys paying $10 for content created before the game was even announced. They can do whatever they want? They should just shut down all their servers so you can't play anymore. I mean, you just said they can do whatever they want so nobody is allowed to complain since it's theirs.
[QUOTE="PBSnipes"]Then it should be free. In an ideal world, yes. But a lot of companies charge for this kind of thing these days. Halo 3 had 2 or 3 mappacks didn't it? $10 for 3 maps that I will spend more time playing playing, & enjoying, than most full retail priced games. Sure, it could have been thrown in before release, but Reach gave me more than 3-4 games worth of content & years worth of replayability for the price of one game. Halo is one of those games that I don't mind spending a bit extra for.
Oh, & I have a job.

Who couldn't see this coming... I swear these publishers actually tell dev's to leave some things out on purpose to beaf up future DLC. You seen the Metro 2033 DLC? If you've played the game you'll know its very rushed and this latest ''extra content'' is basically just a paid patch. The first bit of DLC for a game is often content that for whatever reason was cut from the game at the 11th hour, so this really shouldn't be that big of a shock.

Even though Bungie said in their weekly update that "The maps were just finished at midnight yesterday, and there's no way they could have made the game launch."
