Is there a good chance Bungie will do something like Halo for the PS3/Xbox 360? What would Activision want them to work on? The only thing the PS3 is missing is a space jumping Halo shooter. Thats what I was hoping Red Faction Guerrilla would be but it FAILED.

Activision can't make them work on anything.

All they do is get to advertise the game, and give bungie some money.

Bungie own the ip that acti is publishing, they own their staff, they own nearly everything.

It's just that activision get to advertise the game.

Anyway, I think that Bungie will do something really far away from Halo.

Yeah I don't see another space FPS from Bungie sorry for PS3 only owners=/. I think Bungie is going to want to break out of the mold and try something.

Youre saying Bungie can create ANY IP they want and Activision has no say at all? I dont believe that.

Pretty much. And i think IW will do some sci-fi stuff. On a side note, BioWare should develop a Halo RPG. Watching Halo 3 saved films in 3rd person is badass.

Nearly any IP they want.

It is an action game, that we know.

Why is that so hard to believe? Bungie CHOSE Activision after 9 months negotiation. It's clear who wears the pants in this relationship.

Its not that hard to believe but, lets say Bungie wants to make a Rock Band game. Then what?

They don't own Rock Band so that would be silly. :?

Anyway, bungie don't get to do any IP they want. They've already started working on the project; the only ones who know what it is are Bungie and Activision. Their partnership with Activision is for that one new IP that they're currently working on, whatever it may be. Activision get to publish it, but Bungie have absolute control over making it.

I'm not sure if Bungie is capable of making a game that isn't a floating space marine shooter. I'll be curious to see what they come up with, but I'm not expecting much.

Watch the Bungie video New Beginnings about their partnership. The very last line sums it up. "We just wanted a publisher that would give us the money, then get out of our way"

I'm sure that's what every dev house wants, doesn't mean that's what they got. It would make no sense to take all risk, provide all funds, run all advertising and not maintain control over anything. Activision is not known for it's artistic vision or respect for developer talent.

Bungie got the best deal with Activision. Bungie retain's the rights to whatever IP/game they make and what genre it's in and how often they release sequels. Only thing Activison can do is market the game

Sure, Halo CE was decent fun but not that great, Halo 2 and 3 are worse(relative to the time of release) but are percieved as god-games....yeah yeah IMO.

Is this a matter of fact, or are you just attempting to be humerous?

What is a matter of fact though is the sheer amounthours, kills and deaths 11 million people have recorded in singleplayer.

most people don't go to Halo for the single player, they go there for the multiplayer. the single player from the original is the only one that happens to get praised

They do, and they turned down this new project, so Bungie took it to Activision and other publishers and settled on Activision. They have already decided on their IP and will work on it double-time following Reach's release.

If that was the case it wouldn't get 9.5 (Halo 3) or a 9.0 for a shortened version (ODST).

Right, but that doesn't mean they're crap developers of FPS's as the other poster implied/said. And any high score would take into account SP as well.

Did I say they were bad developers? I simply said that most people didn't like Halo 2 or 3 for the single player even close to as much as the original and went to those ones for the multiplayer

it's a little hard to use facts in an argument that's about pure opinion-The-G-Man-

So it's your opinion that "Most the worlds population think the latter two Halo games had poor singleplayer"

Why make such a claim then call it your opinion? If you dislike the single player just say so, don't then try to make out everyone else did "in your opinion"

The fact are however that in ONE day

I'm thinking their going to make some type of Action/RPG. Maybe even an open world game, but it will defineatly be much different than Halo.

I'm not going to bother asking how you came to this conclusion, 'cause im sure it was a well thought out, indepth study.

I am, however, going to have to ask you how the first having the best campaign, equates to people thinking Halo 2 and 3 were all about multiplayer.

Would it not just mean Halo 1 had the best singleplayer? I won't mention nostalgia as a factor, or even the fact that Halo 1 was limited to LAN, and thus limiting the appeal of its MP.

Brute Infantry

KIA Today: 785,942

Keep in mind that's just one type of enemy. Can you think of a game that beats that?

it's not my opinion, it's most people's opinion that the first Halo had the best single player

most people also think the halo series is crap and completely overrated in reviews.

I'm not going to bother asking how you came to this conclusion, 'cause im sure it was a well thought out, indepth study.I am, however, going to have to ask you how the first having the best campaign, equates to people thinking Halo 2 and 3 were all about multiplayer.Would it not just mean Halo 1 had the best singleplayer? I won't mention nostalgia as a factor, or even the fact that Halo 1 was limited to LAN, and thus limiting the appeal of its MP.-Snooze-
most of my argument revolves around 2; reviews, forum posts, people in general call the campaign a disappointment, so it follows that the game's popular success goes to the mulitplayer i will retract my statement about 3 since i didn't realize that many people played the campaign

Forum posts are not proof of anything, and reviews are proof of one random guys opinion. Which isn't proof at all now is it?

Just head over to Bungie.Net for figures instead of making assumptions based on forums posts.

FYI - I think Halo sucks, both single and multiplayer.

No in my opinion they are done with anything to do with Halo, unless MS comes to them with an absorbance amount of money to do another one, which is never going to happen because they have 343 doing their Halo now. The bottom line is Bungie left MS to do their own thing, they didn't jump ship to just go to another publisher to help them finance another Halo type game.

It would prove that the entire world doesn't believe France exists. Just as everyone saying Halo 2's campaign is a disappointment proves they think the campaign is a disappointment, and considering the success of the game multiplayer is the only logical explanation for why they like it
