This will end all of these arguments.

I own a Wii and there is a huge shortage of epic games. What is epic you ask? Well usually is a game that has a deep and immersive story. Some of them include 6-7 hour type games or 50 hour games.

These are not simple games that someone just made with only a couple bucks and a ducktaped dev kit. Cooking Mama is bad, really bad. That is the opposite of epic.

Epic is a MAIN series of a game, it is mostly always exclusive.

Epic games include Halo, God of War, Legend of Zelda, Gears of War, All Main Final Fantasies.

What people mean by EPIC games is games that developers ACTUALLY PUT EFFORT INTO. The only real epic game on the Wii is the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. All that we have left is Metroid 3 and Mario Galaxy. Everything else is lax and moot. Epic was never Nintendo system's strong point.

I AM SICK AND TIRED OF NINTENDO MAKING EXCUSES OF NOT SPENDING MORE MONEY ON THEIR GAMES AND INSTEAD CASHING IN ON SIMPLE GAMES THAT TOOK THE EQUIVALENT OF 1 HOUR TO MAKE.

I did not buy a wii to play PSP ports, or Cooking Dogs with Playing Waggle. I bought it for the immersive gameplay that IS possible. But all I see is developers cashing in and not even trying to make an epic or game of effort. Where's that big budget third party game?

That's why casuals are ruining the market, because there's less games that are actually GOOD according to our standards. And us as gamers have very low standards. Our standards are even lower thanks to the Wii's 1 hour Wiiplay $50 games.

So Nintendo, STFU about this casual business and get exclusive deals on some EPIC GAMES, games that will last me more than 10 hours, or a small playthrough.

I WILL NOT SPEND $50 ON A GAME THAT LASTS ONE HOUR AND HAS TO DO WITH A MAMA AND A FRYING PAN AND WAGGLING. You can do better than this Nintendo.

It takes me at least 15 hours of work to make a decent map, it takes far longer than1 hour to make a game.

Link?

It was an exageration by the way. And a very close one.

But I doubt that Dog Island took a lot of effort compared to Gears or the equivalent.

Nintendo did not publish Cooking Mama did they? And why aren't you complaining about the $60 price tags on the 360 and PS3 games? Only hardcore gamers are willing to spend so much on a freaken game. If you want to keep the industry alive you must offer consumer priced games. Even at $50 I consider that too much, but it's better than $60 and Nintendo is doing the right thing by offering a more affordable option to the consumer.

I love when people make a list from two consoles against one.
Lets see how this goes

Project Hammer-Original exclusive

Disaster-Original exclusive

NiGHTS-exclusive

Final Fantasy CB-Dont need to say anything u already did

No More Heroes-Original Exclusive, Made by Suda 51 full attention to this project

then u have the obvious titles that are more than likely to score high
SSBB, SMG, MPC, BWii

As long as Microsoft and Sony keep pumping out the games with good graphics, I think we're fine.

If they start converting to Cooking Mama games... then we're screwed.

well, as of now, PS3 has Resistance and Oblivion.  It's safe to assume that all the main Wii 1st party titles will be considered "epic", and many more 3rd party devs are jumping ships to the Wii, so we can also assume the Wii will eventually be getting many 3rd party "epic" games in its later life

Must be an awful lot of hardcore gamers out there. I'd rather pay 60 bucks for a true next-gen great game than settle for 10 bucks cheaper for some last gen looking game with goofy controls. But that's just me I guess.

Some games that aren't "deep and immersive" are really enjoyable for me though.

I love Brain Training, and am going to pick up the sequel. And I'm not that casual. I mean, my most anticipated games are GTAIV, MGSIV, GT5, FFXIII, Haze, FFT2, Pokemon Diamond, SMG, SSBB, Halo 3, Banjo 3...so yeah, not that casual.

There's nothing wrong in my view with non gamer titles once in a while. You guys gotta give them a chance, they're more enjoyable than you'd think they are.

Well see gamers would play the game (if it's the only version avaible) regardless of what console it is on, or how it looks. Good games are good games, and gamers play good games. Even if they aren't current gen enough for you.

I really doubt that dude. I really do.

Do you want me to find the article where Miyamoto is pissed off because developers are giving the Wii their sub-par developers and not the head ones?

Other than Kojima, what developer of deep immersive games have you heard coming to the wii from a third party?

-----... yup.

The Wii is different than any of the other systems..

Why can't people get this....

I used my DS/360 example, because its true. All I see right now is developers cashing in like its some kind of wacky money spree.

This isn't like the DS. The DS has epic games of its own. FF3, Renevent Wings, etc. Yes. a portable with epic games.... So where's the Wiis?....

Wasn't it Nintendo that stated that gamers don't want long epic games?

or did I just imagine that...

Killzone has had years. Red Steel had months. Development Time > Money Put In, usually.

Dude I love the Wii more than any other system, but that was a really stupid statement. Its like saying....

"HEY GUYS! The DS is selling well, all these developers will jump ship from the 360! Cause the touch-screen pwns all."

Games for the Wii are farrrr different than games on the other systems.

This Gen is turning out like the cheap-budget horrible games of the NES days.... Oh god.... Dick Tracy *shudder*

I said more games, not more epic long games... that will be about the same accross all the platforms.

If you've not noticed, there have been more Wii games released then year then PS3 or Xbox 360... not nessicarly good games... but apparently the 3rd party is there...

That sounds like it was from a while ago... before they released Twilight Princess...

If Twilight Princess is not a "long epic" game... I really don't know what is...

Twilight Princess is an epic game. Its the ONLY epic game on the Wii right now... and its a GC port in a sense.. :-/

I believe that's a butchered quote. You know, the kind where fnaboys take what someone says and leaves out part of it to make it sound bad. Like when miyomoto said wii was the same basic architechture as gamecube, and fanboys posted it as "Wii is a gamecube"

Well, Suda51 is a pretty qualified dev.

And right now devs will finish off their projects on the other systems (that they started before rea;lizing the Wii's success) and then decide what console is the most profitable for their games.  Sure the Wii will never have as many 3rd party "epics" as the other 2 systems, but it will have its fair portion

[QUOTE="hamstergeddon"]compared to ALL the epic games the PS3 has...... you know, both of themGundamGuy0

You mean the HUGE line-up coming from 360 and PS3?

Assassin's Creed

Devil May Cry 4

FFXIII

Halo 3

Gears of War

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patroits

Killzone 2 (20 million dollars being put into it)

And tons and tons of other big budget epic games.

I love my Wii, its a great system, but these games aren't even targeting me.... a GAMER!

well, as of now, PS3 has Resistance and Oblivion. It's safe to assume that all the main Wii 1st party titles will be considered "epic", and many more 3rd party devs are jumping ships to the Wii, so we can also assume the Wii will eventually be getting many 3rd party "epic" games in its later life

Wii Play

Big Brain Academy

Mario Party

Super Monkey Ball

Wario Ware

Surf's up

Mortal Kombat Armageddon

Pokemon Revolution

Shrek

Pirates 3

Cooking Mama

Sonic

Spiderman 3

Heatseeker

Bionicle

Legend of the Dragon

Resident Evil 4 Wiimake

Paper Mario

.... Wow... what a list...

Compare that to 360... WAY different audience apparently.

3rd Party Making.... Surfs up.... yea... so much for third party...

And so many spin-offs...

The only main series wii game we're getting is Nights... NIGHTS!

Come on.. that's pitaful. I can name more for the PS3 which has supposedly "no" games.

MGS4, FFXIII, HAZE.

Heck even GOW2 for PS2 seems more worth it than Monkey Ball.

Have we as gamers been given less quality for different gameplay?

[QUOTE="xboxdevil"][QUOTE="FlashMan2006"]Nintendo did not publish Cooking Mama did they? And why aren't you complaining about the $60 price tags on the 360 and PS3 games? Only hardcore gamers are willing to spend so much on a freaken game. If you want to keep the industry alive you must offer consumer priced games. Even at $50 I consider that too much, but it's better than $60 and Nintendo is doing the right thing by offering a more affordable option to the consumer. GundamGuy0

Must be an awful lot of hardcore gamers out there. I'd rather pay 60 bucks for a true next-gen great game than settle for 10 bucks cheaper for some last gen looking game with goofy controls. But that's just me I guess.

Well see gamers would play the game (if it's the only version avaible) regardless of what console it is on, or how it looks. Good games are good games, and gamers play good games. Even if they aren't current gen enough for you.

Good point. But my point was your comment on game cost. Most gamers will spend the 60 bucks to play a good game, not just the "hardcore". That statement was uneducated and ridiculous.

I have heard this so much... and I do not care... Go play a 360 if you want 'Epic Games' I think the games coming to the PS3 (that are not already on or going to the 360) should fit the description of 'Epic'

If you don't like it don't buy it. Yay, for the power of the purse.

MP3, SSBB, and SMG are going to be great too.

The OP is forgetting one vital point. Games are for FUN! Sure, immersiveness is great for games that it is needed for, but there is a huge market of "casuals" or "non-gamers" who have a bit of time everyday, not enough to get into so-called epic games, but want to have a quick bout of fun. This is where these casual games come in. Games like Cooking Mama, Wii Sports, Wario Ware, etc. are great games for this.

Personally, as a person looking into getting into the industry, I think there's plenty of room for these games.
