By the End of this Gen, Microsoft may have the "Graphics King"

I was thinking about Rare the other day when it came to my attention that at the end of eachGen, Rare has given one of the best, if not THE best looking games of that Gen. There was Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. Conker's Bad Fur day for theN64,and Conker Live and Reloaded (srry if i got the name wrong) for the X box. The360 and PS3 are close enough graphically, I can see Rare doing it. Maybe the best looking game of the Gen? IDK, but it is possible knowing Rare. BTW, This is excluding PC of course-I guess I have to bold this because of all teh PC comments. PC will always have the Graphics King. Anyone who doesn't know, just doen't know anything about graphics.

I think this whole "graphics king" stuff is overrated.

Yea it is. BUt PC always wins graphically. You have no choice but to exclude it.

The term "graphics king" is a term made up by hermits to mask the fact that they havn't got a AAAe since Crysis, a game could come out ( and has in my opinion) that could look 2 times better than crysis and we would still get people saying uhh no.

Crysis maybe the official graphics king, but IMO it's far far from the best looking game released.

Anyways, I'm not all that sure that the 360 will have the console graphics king. PS3 has been outperforming it for some time now.

Conker Live and Reloaded was a great looking title, but it wasn't the one of the Console Graphic Kings from last generation.

Still, anything is possible...but with RARE having talent leave, RARE being downsized, and RARE being forced to be the NATAL main 1st Party Developer, I don't know if they will have time this gen to go and try for a super Graphics game.

Rare are being used to compete with Ninteodo's Wii by Rare using NATAL. I think that in itself will limit what Rare was able to do graphically in previous gaming generations.

Anything is possible though.:P

I guess this Thread kind of turned out the Wrong way. It wasn't meant as much of a graphic thread as a Rare Thread. Oh Well.

I would agree Conker was great looking, like uh...Zone of the Enders :2nd Runner PS2 or Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Xbox for instance, but that's not how SW ranked those games last gen, as Console Graphics Kings.

Rare COULD do it, but Microsoft is moving their resources to the dashboard, Natal, etc. Their games haven't sold too well for a while either, wihch will dampen our hopes for a kickass "graphics king" game from Rare.

Note: I liked Kameo, Viva Pinata, and Banjo and thought they were pretty games.

Don't think Rare is exactly the Rare they used to be. meaning they don't have the 'heart and soul' of say: 007 and Perfect Dark.

goldeneye was actually ahead of its time , and pd came in 2000 ,,

so it was the most graphical n64 game,

but no that aint gonna happen , in fact ms already did that with pd0 ,

no game touches the shine seen on it ,, kameo aside , ,

I think the Viva Pinata IP is one of the most original and well designed IP's this generation. The graphic presentation is excellent, look at how varied the different species are and the use of colour is excellent. As for Graphic King, look how good COD 2 was on xbox 360 at the time and compare it to COD 4 and the difference is amazing. By the end of the gen, multiplat games will surpass the current console graphic kings of Uncharted, Alan Wake, Killzone 2, Halo Reach etc... and the exclusives will look even better than those.

Rare isn't the Rare of old anymore. But I'm always willing to be surprised!

1) Debating graphics is just stupid. Leave it to PC owners who's differing "rigs" means there is anACTUAL difference in the graphics of a game.

2) Conkers Bad Fur Day as the best example of the N64's power?! That games was good but it looked like it was puked out by someone...

No Xbox360 will not. It will always be PC hands down and then PS3 2nd IMO. PS3 has just been mopping the floor with 360 in terms of graphics lately which is pretty sad IMO seeing 360 had a whole year head start and it's easier to develop for, what's the problem MS?

Key word is "coming" in that sentence. Therefore it's still an exclusive here until it's released.

Plus there's no guarantee it will be even close to the same game as PC offers.

It also got a AAAE with Sins of a Solar Empire in Feb of 2008, plus Galactic Civ II: Twilight of Arnor in May of 2008, plus WoW: Wrath of the Lich King in Nov 2008, plus Crysis Warhead in Sep 2008.

Well, I think that Starfox Adventures looks better than Conker Live and Reloaded (and Starfox came out a couple years or so before the Conker remake). Dont get me started on the Rogue Squadron games, Resident Evil 4 or Twilight Princess for that matter.gamefan67
