Making it, without a doubt, the most successful Call of Duty game in history.

Nearly three years after its release in November 2012, Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops II continues to remain incredibly popular. Activision has announced that, for the past three months, the game averaged 12 million monthly active users. According to Activision, that's an "unprecedented level for a game that is three years old and only available on old-generation consoles."

By comparison, Electronic Arts recently announced that the combined player base for Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline over the past three months was 6 million players, just half of Black Ops II's.

With more than 100,000 votes, Black Ops II is the most-requested title overall for Xbox One backwards compatibility on the Xbox Feedback site. However, Microsoft hasn't yet announced if the game will indeed be added to the lineup. The initial list of supported titles is coming on November 9.

Looking ahead to Black Ops III, which arrives on November 6, Activision said "momentum ahead of launch has been strong," citing the continued engagement with Black Ops II as one example.

This bodes very well for Black Ops 3 (which looks incredible, too). Good on Treyarch for making the best games in the series!

Its still easy to find full matches of Team Deathmatch on BLOPS II on Wii U

Think about that.

And the ones who stick with it are usually decent players as cheaters got bored and moved on to the next one ages ago.

That's cause Black Ops 2 was the last good one they made.

Though I think BLOPs3 will beat it.

@LegatoSkyheart: Black Ops 3 looks like it will be the best one in the series yet.

That's because there has not been a good Call of Duty game since Black Ops 2. And I've played the beta for Black Ops 3 and it sucked, so I think a lot of people will continue to stick with Black Ops 2.
