Anyway, seems like a great deal for the casual gamers out here.

Thoughts?

The Story.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 - This $75 Bundle Has All You Need To Play, No Console Or PC Required

Get an Xbox Wireless Controller, Amazon Fire Stick 4K, and 1-Month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for only $75.

By Steven Petite on October 15, 2024 at 10:54PM PDT

One of the best gaming deals from Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days event is still available now. For $75, you can get a bundle featuring an Xbox Wireless Controller ($60-$70 value), Fire TV Stick 4K ($50 value), and a digital voucher for 1-Month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate ($17 value). For $80, you can get the same bundle with a Fire TV Stick 4K Max ($60 value). This is essentially an Xbox Cloud Gaming starter pack, as Microsoft added the Xbox app to select Fire TV 4K streaming devices in July.

Amazon doesn't have an end date listed for these bundles, so they could disappear at any time. Even if you aren't interested in Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon's bundle deal is still worth a look. If you want a new Xbox controller and have use for a Fire Stick, it doesn't make sense to buy them separately at the moment.

Five controller colors are eligible for the bundle, including the ever-popular Robot White and Shock Blue models as well as the recently released transparent blue Sky Cipher Special-Edition Controller, which would cost you $60 (was $70) on its own from Amazon right now. Overall, you're saving up to $62 with the Fire TV Stick 4K bundle. Your savings jumps to $67 with the 4K Max bundled with the Sky Cipher.

Here's the full list of available bundles at Amazon:

  • Xbox Wireless Controller + Fire TV Stick 4K + 1-Month Game Pass Ultimate - $75
    • Sky Cipher Special Edition Controller
    • Astral Purple Controller
    • Robot White Controller
    • Shock Blue Controller
    • Deep Pink Controller
  • Xbox Wireless Controller + Fire TV Stick 4K Max + 1-Month Game Pass Ultimate - $80
    • Sky Cipher Special Edition Controller
    • Astral Purple Controller
    • Robot White Controller
    • Shock Blue Controller
    • Deep Pink Controller

Sky Cipher Special-Edition Controller with Fire TV Stick 4K & Game Pass Ultimate

Fire TV Stick 4K vs. 4K Max

If you plan on streaming games regularly on your Fire Stick, the 4K Max is the better option here. Though the two devices are quite similar, the 4K Max is speedier and generally provides a more stable connection. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E, which could be handy if you already have or upgrade to a Wi-Fi 6 mesh router such as Amazon's eero Pro 6E, Google Nest Pro, or TP-Link's AXE5400.

Xbox Cloud Gaming Library

Regardless of whether you currently own an Xbox or PC capable of playing today's AAA games, you can stream them on your Fire Stick 4K using the Xbox app and a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Fire TV Sticks are the most affordable devices with Xbox Cloud Gaming support.

Xbox Cloud Gaming's library features hundreds of games, including the latest entries in the Halo and Forza franchises. Perhaps most notably, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be added to the Xbox Cloud Gaming library at launch on October 25. If you don't have a console or PC and want to try the new Call of Duty, this is a pretty nice deal.

You can check out the full Xbox Cloud Gaming library on the Microsoft Store.

Xbox Cloud Gaming Internet Speed Recommendations

Game streaming performance varies based on the speed and stability of your internet connection. The official recommendation for consoles, PCs, and streaming devices like Fire Sticks is only 20Mbps. This figure is slightly higher than the baseline for streaming 4K movies and shows on Netflix (15Mbps). If you have a high-speed internet connection, there's a good chance it meets the recommended specs. That said, if multiple devices are active on your network at the same time, you'll want considerably faster speeds. The 20Mbps figure doesn't factor in other devices and users. A faster connection is especially important for online multiplayer games like Black Ops 6.

If you're new to the Xbox ecosystem, it's worth noting that you can also stream games on the Xbox app on your phone with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. With a mobile data connection, the speed recommendation drops to 10Mbps. We've streamed games reliably with Verizon's 4G LTE data connection. Some cloud-enabled games have touchscreen controllers integrated into the mobile experience, but a controller works better for most games. The Xbox Wireless Controller that comes with this bundle will work just fine on iOS and Android phones, but you'll want to pair it with a mobile gaming clip like this one. When you're on the go, a better option is a dedicated phone controller like the Backbone One turns your phone into a Nintendo Switch-like handheld. For a cheaper option with similar functionality, check out the GameSir X2 Pro.

Add to your Game Pass Ultimate subscription for less

And if you decide you want to remain a subscriber after your one-month subscription ends, your best option at the moment is three-month Game Pass Ultimate vouchers for $45 at Amazon. It costs $20/month to subscribe directly from Microsoft, so you're saving $15 with Amazon's deal; you can stack Game Pass Ultimate prepaid codes for up to 36 months, so you can wind up saving $60/year by purchasing your subscription this way.

@Chutebox:

I really don't know.

I will say I've tried out many GP games by streaming before I decide whether it's worth DL'ing the whole game and it seems to work really well. Dunno.

I mean this goes for playing on an actual hardware Xbox or PS5 as well. You naturally would want the best option of a wired connection in any online game. But for regular single player games cloud is certainty fine and in some cases still ok for online depending the game and or if your just playing for fun and not hardcore. competitive. .

I've played Game Pass cloud on one of my Firesticks and it's fine and you can even wire connection your firestick also if you choose and that will give a big boost with cutting down on lag but even with a great WIFI connection and good internet it's still pretty good.

i've streamed games with more casual combat like Sea of Thieves and didn't have any issues.. i'd imagine your mileage may vary on something more hardcore like Call of Duty though..

but i'd wager if you're choosing a streaming option in the first place, you're probably not sweaty enough to care and just want to play casually..

Streaming really isn't for everyone who still prefers traditional console/PC hardware. Digital gaming is one thing I like but Streaming is a big o' piece of trash!

Oh and I'll give Black Ops 6 a try on PC/Game Pass.

Funny you ask. A few weeks ago, for the first time ever with an Xbox, I had my XSX controller develop an issue with the right shoulder button. I thought before I buy a new one, I'd try one of my X1 controllers and it worked with XSX. I did not know that. :P

Anyway, the XSX is my favorite, but I've not tried out any others.

Plus I have the hyperkin X360 controller so now I have three generations of Xbox controllers on one system, hehe

But yeah no, what you said is great indeed. This is actually the first generation where we don't need to buy ALL NEW peripherals, Sony and Nintendo have never done this. Nor has Sega

But yeah it's no wonder the guy literally looks like this:

And is trying to save the planet with his interchangeable controllers.

Wait what? You could use Master System controllers on the Genesis and vice versa. You could use PS1 controllers on PS2, and PS2 controllers on PS3. PS4 controllers work on PS3 also.

Or was this sarcasm?

In any case I wish you could use the official xCloud controller on Xbox, and unfortunately it doesn't support x-input either. For an official product you would think it would!

You want people to play an already laggy franchise with less than stellar servers, ping, and sync while streaming? Gotcha.

Look, I'm excited for BO6, I think it might possib, possibly, be my favorite CoD of all time before it's said and done, but I'm sure the old archaic servers will struggle enough as is... no thanks on streaming.

I guess if you wanted to try and play the campaign it wouldn't be quite as bad though... still, it's a hard pass from me.

This game already extremely benefits people that have low latency, so I couldn't imagine this would be any sort of fun unless it was strictly the single-player campaign. A whole 4.5 players would bother buying the game solely for the SP.

For real, though? This is a great value. I just think COD is the last game I'd want to play via a cloud service, especially when there are so many awesome titles on Game Pass.

I’ve purchased the game and will also play it via Game Pass on Xbox but will also be trying this out on XCloud out of curiosity. There’s no way it’s playable online. Especially with folks on the “120fps” mode. Streaming folks might need their own lobby

I was trying out Game Pass again on one of my Firesticks 4K again last night and most games are extremely playable especially single player games. I was even playing Battlefield 2042 online for a bit it's obviously some lag but it's still playable especially for a casual.

The real great thing is those most single player games plays pretty dang good. I was playing Fallout 4 and it ran well and played well and for a causal this would be super great for them and a no brainer. This is why MS is doing this.

I was even playing on WIFI with my router upstairs and I'm playing downstairs on WIFI and it's still playable on single player games and most play pretty dang well. Obviously if you want to put your WIFI closer to your TV or even do a hardwired connection this is a no brainer for a casual for great cheap gaming especially for single player games.

Just imagine if your a kid going to families house with the parents and want something to do just bring your firestick and controller and bam play some games or if your on a business trip and want to play some games at night in your hotel bam bring your firestick. It's super convenient and on the go for certain situations and ease of use. Also when MS allows you to stream your own games you own really soon this is a no brainer for many.

I personally have two Series X's in my house but to have an option to stream on a Firestick is just added greatness when needed and again for more causal players this is a no brainier and awesome.

Yeah, I think one needs to keep in mind part of this deal is getting a month of GP.

For the low, low price of admission; all kinds of great SP gaming to play right there.

Xbox not going anywhere. If anything hugely expanding. MS will always offer a hardcore box for the enthusiast and now a Handheld is coming but MS is paving the way for the future with Game Pass on everything and ease of use anywhere anytime.

Absolutely
