Call of Duty: Black Ops **BETA** 360 Exclusive?

This should be taken with a bucket of salt! The beta is supposedly only on Xbox 360, which shouldn't surprise anyone, considering the fact that all future Call of Duty add-ons will launch first on the Xbox 360. The deal between Activision and Microsoft will last until 2012 and should include beta tests as well. Treyarch's previous game, Call of Duty: World at War, had a beta test and every big release these days has one, just look at Halo: Reach, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and the dozens of games before them. The URL in the ad has been used in the World at War beta, but it's currently redirecting visitors to the Call of Duty homepage. It's also been known for a while that the user registration page at the official website hints at a possible beta for members: "First-in-the-world access to REDACTED -- you are not yet cleared for this information." Stay tuned for the full multiplayer reveal on 1st of September. We might learn more about the beta test at the end of the trailer, but don't get your hopes up.

Kinda alme if true. If you wanna have Timed Exclusive DLC on one console first, then fine, but why would you limit a beta to jsut one console and clearly favor one? Wouldnt you, as a company, would want it to be 50/50 sales on both consoles so you can build up a great userbase on both consoles, meaning more money for you down the line with future releases because you have two fronts now instead of one?

Errr... I thought they already announced at E3 that they'd partnered up with Activision for timed exclusivity on map packs and stuff like this... so how is this news to anyone?

Wouldn't really surprise me. Can't say I'm envious over a Beta for a game I'm not buying though

They made no mention of a beta though, although with Live being big as it is it wouldnt surprise it would get a multiplayer beta instead of PSN.

As long as MS keeps gamers flocking to the 360 1st for big games like COD, MS will continue to succeed. Do i agree with it no, but its a sound business plan.

SONY is natoriously ignorant and obvlivious to their own reality. They think theyre leading this gen for gods sake, but last I checked, their in third place. How many times have we heard that in their press briefing "SONY si leading the way blah blah blah" thats why things arent changing, they think thyre winning and NOT in third place!They need to realize that this gen is all about whos going to pony up the most money for Timed exclusive and exclusvie stuff. SONY needs to be more aggressive and use some of those millions of dollars. But really, I dont think you can out money microsoft.

I disagree. It's a waste of funding to keep content off another system that's going to get it anyway. It may be nice for MS in the short term, but their consumers shouldn't exactly dig getting DLC a month before other console owners instead of a new IP.

I'm not saying the CoD "deal" or whatever is enough to cover a new IP, but I bet all the money they've spent on this kind of stuff would be.

Erm... isn't sony partnered with EA and they announced in June that Ps3 would get an exclusive multiplayer beta for AC:Brotherhood
