call of duty world at war looks so rank on consoles the textures are shockingly low rez and overall just looks so dated, after playing killzone 2 I cant even bring myself to play call of duty much anymore because killzone 2 looks and plays just so much better

it's time for both devs to realise the game looks like **** at 60FPS and needs to go back to 30 FPS to get a lot more detail in the game so it doesnt look so bad.

FPS doesn't affect how well a game looks; it just determines how fast the game plays.

The higher the detail of things in the game, the lower the FPS is depending on the hardware. Reason why COD games look better on PC, well hell any game looks better on PC is because if the PC has high end hardware, it can pump out higher res textures and use different post processing effects at a high FPS. Consoles cant do that unless programmed really well.

I know all that, but if the game is running fine at 60FPS but looks like crap, it's not because it's running at 60FPS.

Unless they are cutting out eye candy for extra FPS.

Don't know if you hadn't noticed. But Framerates actually affect gameplay. Pretty textures do not. I'd easily take 60 frames over some better graphical detail.

It actually does look like a ps2 game after having played the killzone 2 beta, K2 destroys it on every level from graphics to gameplay it isnt even close, I cant even bring myself to play world at war anymore after playing K2

The game looks really good considering the xbox is a 2005 game system. Most fun I had with a shooter since Battlefield 2142.

Considering it's online oriented I would rather take 60fps than extra eye candy and 30fps. And wasn't CoD4 running at 600p or something? If they would had optimized it to run at 30fps it might not look that much better anyway, just a higher res and a bit better textures, it would still look average but it wouldn't even have the framerate edge on other games.

for consoles it's a direct tradeoff between graphical details and framerate. 60fps feels great and plays great. it's very nice to have a shooter that runs that smooth, and the particle effects like smoke and dust, as well as the edge-lighting really makes up for the textures that aren't eye-bleedingly gorgeous.

FPS doesn't affect how a game looks. It determines how smooth it plays. I don't see why you would make with the person said a sig.

How so?He's right. Crysis maxed out running at 30fps will look exactly the same if it were running at 60fps. Framerate determines how well a game runs...not how it looks.

Lowering the FPS does nothing for the textures because the textures rely on how much RAM you have.

if its 60fps it means they scaled down the graphics for more frames. If there was no relationship between the two then every single game would run at 60fps.

thats why in crysis when you turn down the settings you get more frames. There are some exceptions in certain cases because of programing choices but what that guy said was very silly

yes it's R3 in k2 ,going from cod games to k2 isnt that smooth of a transition because the controls are somewhat different, but once you get hang of the controls in k2 the game is freaking awesome, better atmosphere, better graphics, better controls when you get used to it, better maps, great destructible enviroments thats just makes you so immersed in the gameplay, youll chuck a grenade and chunks of a wall will come flying down while in a firefight, it just blends so well togeather.

Blastphemy!! Games aren't meant to be fun!!! It must h@v ub3r gr4phixx!! Just kidding, but seriously, I'd rather have a game that looks ok and runs at 60 FPS than a good looking game that's just grinding.

This relationship is entirely dependent on the hardware and loosely dependent on how the graphics look.  If the hardware is up to snuff, then 60FPS is no problem. Call of Duty on the PS3 looks fine and runs smooth; his argument is as ridiculous as his reasoning.

got to disagree on the controls and if there aren't customizable controls in the final game ill be very disappointed i hate when the right control stick is zoom-in also how many guns are in the game? and is there something similar to an AK-47(favorite assault rifle)

Actually it is. Developers have to sacrafice graphical detail in order to get their game running at 60fps. At 30fps they can add more visual detail. It is also tougher to program at a higher resolution and keep the framerate that high.

Actually, the controls are very easy to get used to. I'm not even sure what other control options they had b/c it only took me 15 min or so to feel comfortable with them. The game feels like more of an improvement over the COD formula than COD5 does. Gameplay and graphics are freakin awesome.

60fps > 30fps.

I think console games should HAVE to run at 60fps. 30fps is far, too slow.
