Calling all Zelda fans! How would you feel if SMG dethroned Zelda: OoT?

I love OoT to death, but both are incredible games.

When I first got Super Mario Galaxy, I didn't understand the amazing reviews. The game was great... but not revolutionary mostly because of difficulty.

Now that I am on my 80th star... I am amazed! Congradulations Nintendo. You = God! ^__^

I am a huge Zelda fan, I would love to see OoT dethroned.

Why would I hope against industry progress?

If any game deserves to do it, SMG does.

Though honestly, I think Metroid Prime belongs at #1.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over it... but Galaxy isn't the best Mario game ever made. It's awesome, amazing, nearly perfect... but it's a top 5 game, not #1 in my book. SMB3 and Mario 64 are slightly better, in my opinion. Plus, OoT is the closest thing to perfection when it comes to gaming.

My #1 will always be Mario64

then Windwaker

then Bioshock

then Halo 3 (for some reason it was just so amazing to me, no clue why, I always found Halo 2 boring)

I'm a Zelda fan, and honestly I think there a quite a few qames that are better than OoT.

I really couldn't care less. I'm a huge OoT fan, but even I know that if there were any reviewing publications around when SMB3 was released, it would have had a higher rating that OoT. There is simply NOTHING to complain about with that game.

If SMG gets it, then I definitely think it deserves it, with all the cynics out there that there are.

I would be insanely ANGRY.

And it wouldn't change the fact that OoT IS the best game ever.

I think it has a good chance to dethrown OoT. Both are superb games either way. I just wish the zelda series will get out of this hole they're in.

Wow, I can't believe I overlooked that quote. Hopefully the next zelda will breathe new life into the series.

Its close........1% away. You can not deny the possibility that SMG is really close. SO far many reviewers, even harsh and unjust ones, have been praising this game. Is it possible? How would you guys feel that, after almost a decade of Zelda: OoT dominance, it falls to SMG? I'm sure many of you will still consider Zelda: OoT the best game ever....but, eventually, gamerankings might have to disagree w/ youpeter1191

Wow you have halo 3 of all games on that list. Campaign was so-so and online really annoys me.

And OoT dethroned? NEVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!

But to answer your question I would think it's cool because the game is amazing. I don't think it's going to happen though becasue scores tend to go down over time instead of up.

well actually we're not. I loved OoT when I first played it. I never even knew it was as popular as it was/is until i got the internet (a long time after I clocked it)

Galaxy is good, but Oot was revolutionary. it rewrote the rules fr gaming as we know it. Galax definitely has not.

If SMG overtakes Oot I wil not care, as I now OoT is a much better game, and one organisations rating can't change that, EVER.

zelda is my fav franchise, but i wouldn't be crushed if it was dethroned. Afterall, it's been there for ages and would still be considered among the best games ever, most importantly by myself(afterall, why should i be so bent out of shape by what everyone else thinks). As amazing as SMG is, OOT was all of that at its time plus it was even more revolutionary and new(though SMG is amazingly fresh, dont' get me wrong.. just that OoT was pretty much unmatched)

Anyways, review standards change with time among other things. Even if SMG was ahead of OOT, it doesn't mean it truelly is a better game(just like OOT being at the top right now doesn' tmean it is truelly the best game ever... though it is widely regarded as such, that's beside the point :D)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that i'm only part way into galaxy, so i can't say that it is better or worse then oot. Though i will say i have been blown away by this game, it is the most fun i've had in awhile!
