first NOT Crappy sonic game in over so many years?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I want a new(or old, doesn't matter which) Baldur's Gate RPG on the DS. It's the perfect system to have one on. Sonic, does that lend itself to an RPG?ithilgore2006
Mario surprisingly did, and Sonic has more side characters.

It worked superb with Mario. WHy can't it work with Sonic?
Because the main attraction of Mario isn't his speed?

They're both mascots. And Sonic can be adapted to tell pretty good stories. I still have fond memories of the old Sonic SatAM cartoon. :P

I was in my teens when that came out, and all I remember is the terrible voice acting and thinking "why can't they just make another good Sonic game?".
Plus that's when they started going overboard with the crappy side characters. I have no love for the Sonic cartoon at all.
I'm buying Captain N next week though, so what do I know :P

The SatAM cartoon was pretty good, though, and its side characters weren't nearly as crappy as the later ones. Post-apocalyptic rebellion and all that. :)

Because Mario was done with a fine compay in its time (Squresoft). That's why it worked so well with Mario? Sonic? I don't see this being any sort of given light to the series. Sonic is still dead and keeps getting deeper in his grave.
It's ridiculous that people think the game will be poor by default because Sonic stars it.
It's Bioware.

And now so is Sonic. BioWare is every bit as good as if not better than SquareSoft used to be.

Don't get me wrong. Bioware is great for the wRPG scene. Sonic just doesn't fit into that scene. More in the jRPG scene. Bioware pumps out the great games like Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR, and the soon to be great, Mass Effect. And then just out of now here, Sonice RPG for the DS? That seems a little like a downstep for what the company is really capable of.hotdaisy18
They can do a 'Sonic Shuffle' game. They can do this and still make it great/fun experience.

If it were Namco or maybe even Tri-Ace doing a Sonic RPG, I'd be a little more excited about it. But Bioware? Just not their style IMO.

Just a question, but how exactly do you differentiate a JRPG from a WRPG in gameplay? Especially a WRPG in BioWare's traditional style? Because I don't see much difference in anything but story. In gameplay, a BioWare WRPG is as different from a Bethesda WRPG as it is from a Square-Enix or Namco JRPG.

:|... :?
Sorry Zwei... After BG: DA, I want tovisit Zantam and Khan again. Though not knocking the Sonic RPG idea.
It's about time...
The Sonic universe would make for great role playing. I just hope there's more action and less "pick spell and pray you cast it first otherwise you're dead" or "random moster battle every 20 pixels." (FFIII is really annoying me at the moment, so you must excuse me.)

What to expect? how about waiting till they actually show how the game is actually going to be?This is just criisizing on baseless assumptions.

Ditto.
Really Sonic was doing good in the DS.Yet I don't see an immediate reason to think this will suck.Bioware if I'm not wrong worked on Neverwinter nights and Sonic is a popular mascot even in its decay.
It could be good :).

Let's think this through: It's an RPG based on Sonic, who attracts people to his games because he runs really, really fast. Unless it's a realtime RPG where running really fast is a major factor, I find the entire concept out of place.
Meh, I prefer a new ip from Bioware on the DS. Pity we're not getting it.

Lets wait till we see Bioware's ideas, before we critisize the game.It could be an FPS based on the Kool Aid guy for all I care. The bottom line is this is BIOWARE. Bioware delivers. You couldn't ask for a better company to make an RPG for Sonic, or any other character.

I was thinking the same, the minds that made Neverwinter nights making a Sonic RPG.I don't say it could be bad but it could be weird.
I equip my hedgehog with Red Dragon scale and Great Scythe +5.
----------------
I wonder if you can equip your character,Nike shoes +5 for Sonic?Maybe something from Adidas.Wow that game also has potential for a lot of In-game advertising.
Edit:Damn GS spellchecker.

You don't know if it's going to be anything like what they've done in the past, you're just assuming it will be something alike. How is it baseless? Again, look at Bioware's games. Those are mild assumptions of what they could use in a Sonic RPG. What are you expecting, tradition turn based?
hotdaisy18
They could come up with something quite different or they could not, we don't know yet.

I understand your disappointment, hell even if they had to work with SEGA, out of all their RPG franchises to chose, they chose Sonic. But we still don't know even what the game's concept is going to be, will Sonic star the game or just be on the Sonic world? we need more details.
