I'm asking this because the more I read about the next expansion of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Blood and Wine, the more like it acts as its own game!

The size of the land is almost as big as the original game, with an all new story not connected with the original title. It includes an extra 20 hrs of gameplay and new monsters and quest!

Can this expansion steal 2016 GOTY?

No. A game only gets one year to win GOTY.

No. GOTY will be between Uncharted 4, Deus Ex Mankind Divided, Horizon and Mass Effect Andromeda. Unless Rockstar announces and releases Red Dead 3 this year then all bets are off.

One question I have about the Xpac for TW3.

Does it fix the problem with the over leveling? Or at least address the issue.

If it does...then yes, if it's as good as the base game.

No for every website on the internet.

However some websites do give out "Best DLC of the year".

Hypothetically if there was weak competition and it was an amazing expansion (as Blood and Wine seems to be) - however I'd say there's far too much great competition on the horizon so it's very unlikely. Depends on who were to give the award too.

TBH both are offering more of the same.

But I do like the buggies and crossbow I saw in Dying Light: The Following.

The butthurt is genuinely real with you isn't it.

And as for the topic. Well this is what 'dlc' used to be before last gen. Full fledge expansions worth buying. Bravo to CDPR(and Techland with the upcoming DL expansion), hopefully more dev's/publishes will realise it is viable to release actual content for DLC not just costumes.

As for GOTY? Well maybe as a sub category? Which it would win and therefore provide more tears from certain posters here.

Neither have I, but this screenshot looks pretty great: look at all the colors!

I'd buy this just to walk around in its world and get lost in it :P

How could have you known within a span of 5 days if you weren't an alt?

Besides, I wasn't butthurt at all, and I didn't mean it in a vitriol-fueled way at all.

Think what you like, I've been reading these forums for a few years to pass time at work. Certain user's, yourself included certainly raise the stakes in humour around here (and I don't mean that in a bad way as I realise it's not always as serious as it appears). Decided to join, even though I may not be the best at posting figured it's time to get in on the action.

And I still think there is a underlining passive aggressive tone to this topic:P

That's the fact Jack, I mean Fries. :P

Heck, GS reviews BloodBore's DLC on PS Bore giving it a 9.0 but a real Expansion of FH2 on the X1 doesn't even get a review and if I remember correctly, a stand alone Expansion, FH2: Fast & Furious got the same treatment.

So OT, yes bot only if it's not a X1 exclusive expansion.

It's got Polish polish. :D I thought the same thing about Hearts of Stone. The first expansion was just what the industry, not the game was missing. After years of DLC, AAA gaming finally receive a proper EXPANSION. Looking forward to last piece of Geralt's story. Can't wait for this expansion!

It dont matter, just like with Sports games, we cant give Madden GOTY every year. And we cant give WoW GOTY cause every expansion is 10x better then all other games.

No, if a game like Madden or WOW expansion deserves a spot at GOTY than I'm all for it.

You can't make up arbitrary rules like "Well, they come out each year so they don't count". It's about the quality. And if this years madden or any expansion trumps full games, I'm all up for them being nominated.

Nope, that would be unfair to other games, since the game with the expansion essentially gets a shot at GOTY in more than just one year.

That said, Blood and Wine looks awesome.

Those, along with Persona 5 and The Legend of Zelda are the obvious contenders, though I doubt ME: Andromeda will launch this year.

Let this sink in.

The Last of Us Left Behind was considered Game of the Year Worthy.

You needed a Game from 2013 to play it, it wasn't stand alone, and it came with Game of the Year Edition on PS4.

It was deemed worthy by Gamespot in winning a GOTY award. It almost won.

It can but the odds are stacked against it this year even though it looks awesome. The Last of Us DLC almost won in 2014 but that was a bad year.

I think it could. Blood and Wine will no doubt force people to ask the question. We've got a lot of games coming this year though so I suspect they will give it to one of those instead.

Seriously though, Toussaint is going to be around the same size as a gigantic game so they say. I'm almost skeptical, but this is CDPR and they haven't let me down yet. I would settle for an area the size of Skellige.

Left Behind was a great DLC but 2014 was also the worst year in gaming history. A DLC being considered just shows how bad 2014 was. Didn't Shadow of Mordor win GOTY that year? Enough said.

You're just a hater, and you haven't even played the game yet! So obviously you don't know what you're talking about! Also, some claimed that the Last of Us was up for GOTY in 2014 with their expansion so I don't see why Witcher 3 can't again this year?

I think the key is whether its an expansion or standalone.
