Can anyone recommend me good non FPS game this gen?

Hello friends,

so this generation i lost interest in every genre other than FPS. stealth is one of my fav genre but they disappeared. after i played RE2 demo which many people liked. i was like its ok, but RE7 is lot better.

which make me realise that its really hard to find a good non FPS this gen. i mean in last few decades or gens. there were games like Max payne a masterpiece, early splinter cell, Hitman which still exist but season 2 was just glorified DLC. where are these games??? everytime next splinter cell rumored surface and left us disappointment. where the hell is Max Payne 4?? why are not rockstar doing it?

I tried MGS5 and got bored. despite stealth is one of my fav genre. tried dishonored 2 and didnot liked it. even though dishonored 1 was good.

looking at upcoming games. i look at sekiro which looks ok probably best from software game for not being RPG but i doubt i will enjoy it more.

so friends, can anyone recommend me a good non FPS this gen?

Im looking forward to some change. but always end up being disappointed. especially after RE2 demo which feel inferior to RE7 except graphics.

games like Doom, Prey, Metro series, RE7 Titanfall 2, COJ gunslinger etc are kind of things that make me interested. in last gen i did liked arkham asylum but we dont have good batman game this gen and arkham knight suck.

thats what i meant. i even liked mafia 2 which feel inferior to mafia 1 (one of the best game ever) but mafia 3 also ruined it by turning it into GTA.

Kind of agree with most of what you wrote,

Like Re2 demo being kind of bland etc.

That being said, it’s kind of hard recommending any game to you when you only like stealth and FPS.. and the stealth genre is dead currently and well you know what FPS are out there... maybe broaden your palette a bit and we can help?

Yup. That's part of why I play lots of indie games where there is still good action adventure games (among other things), but you don't like those either.

Here's hoping Sekiro turns out good, and that Activision doesn't **** it up. So far it looks like a nice blend of action and stealth.

If I were to take you serious I would say maybe try the SoulsBorne sereies. Bloodborne in particular as the fps games you tend to like seem atmospheric. Try some indie games like Hollow knight or Ori you might find something there.

problem with dark souls is i did tried it but button prompts show xbox buttons so i stop playing.

plus i hate RPG games.

Seriously? If it bothers you, fix it with a small mod. But I don't get why it bothers you. You need button prompts to be able to play games? Learning the controls should take 5 minutes, tops.

its a console design game. playing it feel like im playing emulated version of xbox game on PC.

one of the worst port i have ever played. quickly uninstalled it.

Seriously? There are literally hundreds of great non FPS on current platforms. If you can't find them everywhere, there's probably not much hope for you in gaming.

Damn, like how can you hate RPGs? There are like 4 or 5 sub genres within the RPG makeup, it's not like they are even the same.

If you're that close minded then people aren't going to be able to help you much.

Do you own any specific system other than PC? Some of the game recommendations presented may not be available to you depending on what platforms you own.

But just going off your mention of games you already liked I'll list some of the best games non FPS or Stealth games this gen.

If you liked Max Payne you should definitely try Horizon Zero Dawn.

From your posts I know you at least own a PC even though most of theses aren't available on PC these are some of the best games from this generation you can play, Happy game hunting!

Looks like one of those threads to me where people name games and then you go to any extent to bash them to prove a point that your taste is superior and other than FPS, every other genre sucks etc.

I only have PC and i have no interest in horrizon even if it was on PC.

I hated assassins creed series except black flag which was great. tried origins and its terrible game. uninstalled it within half hour so not expecting anything from odyssey. although im waiting for RDR2 on PC. only non FPS game that looks interesting to me so far.

my friend read my OP again. like i said i missed games like early splinter cell and Max Payne 3. Max Payne 3 is only rockstars masterpiece in a terms of gameplay. and i have yet to play any third person game that can match the epicness of it.

I liked mafia 2 alot too despite it getting tedious but it was good game. but today every third person game disappoint me.

every genre has good and bad games and if we count RPG which i consider worst genre ever. it has Deus Ex 1 aka greatest game of all time still.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you only like FPSs, some TPSs, there has to be blood and gore, there can not be bright colors, it can't have RPG elements, it gots to have a manly man character.. And everything else is crap. Did I miss something?

If I say Monster Hunter World, there's a high chance you'll just say "RPG. It sucks". So what's the point? I don't think anyone here is gonna go out their way to find a game for you that fits your very specific, EXTREMELY narrow taste.

yes its good. but its nowhear near as good as human revolution which was amazing. althought its FPS and my thread is about non FPS game.

You didn't hate Shenmue, right? Try Yakuza 0 since it's on the PC.

Bloodborne and the Dark Souls trilogy. If you can't like those bloody violent and challenging games after giving them a fair shake, well, then I don't what to tell ya.

ok. will try yakuza. however gameplay i have seen didnot impressed me much. especially combat.

Yeah, the combat isn't genre defining, but if you enjoy playing classic SEGA beat 'em ups, like Streets of Rage, it can be very fun, and it does get much better the more you upgrade the styles. Also make sure to start out on hard mode, because Yakuza games tend to be easy.

Overall though, what make Yakuza games special are the total package, because there's so much to do outside the main story, which itself is always great.

But Horizon Zero Dawn has amazing gameplay, but you said you wanted to dismiss it without even trying it for some reason. It's gameplay reminds me of Max Payne because it also has the bullet time slow down mechanic. It's really fun and addicting.

Bloodborne also has fantastic gameplay.

God of War as well have incredible gameplay mechanics with a lot of depth.

That said, all of these and PlayStation games and you only have PC.

At the very least you could try PSNow for a month and Play Bloodborne on your PC.

Also you didn't respond to my suggestion of Monster Hunter World, that game is also on PC and something you can try without having to get another system. Many people love that game and it's from Capcom so you know the gameplay will at least be good.

I honestly wouldn't suggest Yakuza 0, it's all subtitles. Not sure if you'd like to go through a game like that. There is a LOT of dialogue you'd have to read.

Its an RPG. plus i prefer to play as male characters.

God of War as well have incredible gameplay mechanics with a lot of depth.

like i said i only own PC but if those games were on PC i would not interest at all because God of war setting didnot apeal me and not a fan of hack n slash.

So, I know this is still technically an FPS, but I highly recommend giving Supraland a try on Steam. There's even a generously-packed demo if you don't want to buy it. Took me 3 hours to beat before I cashed in and bought the full game.

It's a pretty fresh take on the genre. The best way to explain it is a cross between Zelda, Mario, Portal, and The Elder Scrolls.

Red Faction Guerrilla: physics based third person shooter you use a sledgehammer, demolition bombs, rocket launchers, and other things to destroy enemy strongholds

Dark Souls 3/complete edition: starting class Knight/starting weapon Claymore you get it early game by a dragon. Only put levels into these four/five stats Vigor, Endurance, Strength, Dexterity this is a quality build and you will be able to use 90% of the melee weapons. might need a few into Vitality. think about giving series a second try these are great action adventure games!

Okami hd: zelda like action adventure game. Artsy colorful level design each area looks different unique. easy but fun bosses and dungeons. here what might turn you off it's super dialogue heavy and synthetic voices, stories loosely based off japanese mythology. if you can ignore this one thing you will probably enjoy. oh it's also locked at 30fps and modders haven't been able to rewrite the code.

RE2 demo make me want to make this thread because it lack soul and atmosphere of what RE7 has. even more, zombies are boring enemies compare to RE7 enemy and crazy baker family.

I've told you Horizon Zero Dawn has fantastic gameplay and similar to Max Payne, a game you yourself say you love, so other than not being a male there aren't any problems with this recommendation.

And I know you only own a PC but you didn't mention that as a reason why you didn't want to consider it.
