a sword that has a chain that whips enemies... and you fight Titans... and the swinging chain animations are basically the same as GOW.

Yea its a GoW rip off alright, im getting this game only because it remind me of GoW. usually dont miss games that play like GoW
Castlevania's protagonists have used chain whips since the 80's.....
Was the Ps3 your first console?
Kandlegoat
I assume he means it acts and looks like it plays like whatever the GOW weapon is called. GOW did not create that style of weapon, but the game can still copy how the weapon plays.
Well it's okay because God of War was completely new and original when it came out.FudgycakesAgreed.
I think they copied GOWs gameplay style or at least built upon it. Everything else existed before GOW was even conceived, maybe not the titans though.
I'm not even a follower of Castlevania but I do remember them using whips in the older games. Tweetie-Pot
It's not the weapon of choice people are complaining about, it's the overall combat. I havn't seen almost ANY gameplay from LoS (even though I'm getting it day 1. Castlevania nut since the NES days :P ) that doesn't change the fact that it can blatently copy ideas from God of War. However, this is just a testiment to how good God of War is as a Hack n' Slash game.

Oh I know.
It just seems any Whip/Chain/Mace type weapon in games that even predate GOW are accused of being "GOW clones"
But at the same time,No one ever said GOW fanboys were very bright.

About as bright as any other fanboy out there.
All games steal from eachother and thats what makes better games but you do realize that the series was created first on Nintendo in the mid 80's and it was using the same weapon set then as it is now. Man I used to love that game when I was like 6. lol
The CROSS whip is based of mechanics Castlevania has been using for years. Hop off your high horse. Giant enemy bosses isnt somehting GOW started either. THe story is no where even close to GOW either. TBH I would say the fact that this game looks so great is that its doesnt really show the protaganist as a Deus Ex Machina(human in this example) figure. Which is my only problem with the gow series after 3 games. I like to be a character that struggles to defeat his enemies.
that game looks kinda cool actually.great1991i played the demo and yh i must admit this too, the games lukin great

Yes He always had a whip, but no, he never had gameplay like he has now witch is obviously trying to be like GoW.
Is that a bad thing? Only if it's done like Dante's Inferno...... everything that I've seen so far leads me to believe that this will be the sleeper hit of the year.
Put it this way, If you couldn't take the ideas from another game and work on it, we wouldn't have any of the current FPS today. (save the jokes about that being a good thing :P )

Not disputing this...
Fanboys in general are a bunch of idiots.
Which in a sense i'm making fun of myself, because when I play LOS,i'll be picking it apart and pointing out how the game doesnt compare to CV4 or Rondo of Blood.

What you described is basically this game Which was out before the original GoW. Fancy that :|Skittles_McGee
Castlevania on the SNES had a chain whip that you used to strike enemies. You also used the chain whip to swing from stuff there too. Fighting big bosses is hardly something GOW invented.......so really which game was ripping off which?
This reminds me of when people were trying to say Clash of the Titans ripped off GOW...sheesh people GOW was hardly original.
The game looks great..let it be.

He was whipping enemies before you know..

I'm one of the few people who have actually played that game and no, that's nothing like the new game.

By that logic, Halo copied Doom in the sense that you use a gun to kill enemies.
Guys the TC is right. Any action adventure game with melee combo system combat is a GOW ripoff. GOW invented this novel, brilliant, and original concept of fighting enemies with melee combos, and then unlocking more along the way.
Anyhoo, this type of combat works best for the game. Do you want to go back to the N64 days of locking on and whipping?

Upparoom
It's really doesnt matter to me combat wise, as long as it's challenging and requires strategy.
And not some shallow game that you can button mash your way to the end-credits with ease.

Yeah and god of war ripped off ninja gaiden so whats your point?
Some-Mist
and ninja gaiden ripped off devil may cry! what is YOUR point!?
and devil may cry ripped off...
(I actually don't know :P)
i dont care if its a carbon copy of god of war , as long as the game turns out great i dont care. also isnt it a good idea to copy an AAA game. why not it better than copying crappy games. either way as long as the game is good i dont think anone will care if it copied another game or not
