I'm somewhat a casual gamer and I chose one system that gives me the best value and best experience. After hearing the cost of the PS3 I happily went to the 360. I've noticed when a company has an inferior product people flock to the superior one (premium over core and 60gb PS3 over 20gb PS3). Well, now that the elite is out would any new adopters consider the core or premium? I know I probably would not and go for the elite. However, when compared to the PS3 it really does lack wifi, web browser, and blu-ray. I admit there is a lack of games and no xbox live but when just comparing the elite to the PS3 hardware side by side I can honestly say that I would purchase a PS3 instead of a 360. Now, I have had a 360 for over a year with 11gb of free space on my hard drive and am extremely satisfied with it. Don't plan on buying an elite or bigger hard drive. But, if I had to make the choice all over again and the elite was available I would have got a PS3 (I only buy one system). I just wonder how many others will make the same choice? As a side note; after experiencing xbox live with the 360 I would have purchased a 360, however, what you got to understand is that casuals do not really understand the importance of xbox live because some have not experienced it; most hear free online on Sony and them run to that system. That is exactly what I did with the PS2.

no it won`t because the consumer wanted the hdmi and bigger hdd .if they don`t want elite they can still opt for the premium or core package

For 80$ more than premium, you get DOUBLE what PS3 600$ offers, are you serious ?

Double the hard disk space, and more games out at this point, but that's all.

I can understand the xbox core and premium packets but i cant see any reason to buy the elite just for the HDMI port (HD is a laughable argument imo) the 360 competes with the PS3 through the large price gap take away that and i dont see any reason to buy one over the PS3

Either stick to the cheap 360 or go for brutal graphics on the PS3, paying more while receiving less as with the elite just doesent make any sense.

Choice like this never decreases sales, the Elite might NOT sell, but the other ones will still sell.

On the business side, this was a great move... I can't see them selling less 360's. People who have been holding out on buying a 360 will now be able to find premium 360's for cheaper as people who have the money and desire to upgrade buy the Elite model and sell their current system. But if I had to make the choice all over again, and the Elite was available I would have bought it instead. It's not much different than what goes on with mp3 players, cellphones, dvd players, and TV's every year. Sure, you would want the newest version, but your old device works fine so why upgrade?

Its a great move by MS towards the remaining people that doesnt have 360s yet but its totally unfair for people that wanted the added features on the Elite version.

Compare to PS3 has to offer, 360 is no where near

Built in media center, only console that allows streaiming of HD content, streaming pictures, music, etc. PS3 doesn't have downloadable HD movies either or anything really similiar to LIVE arcade.
