personally i feel they can. for starters Guerrilla worked on a pretty weak console compared to the xbox last gen. So they where not able to take their fps to higher heights that they shot for. but this gen is a whole different story. for one, the funding. This gen they got 40mill for funding for this game. and 2nd they have the cosole power also this gen. so the question is , can Guerilla get it right this time? the answer is Yes, with more Horse Power under the hood and cash to back them up, anything is possiable.

So bungie and kill zone 2 doubters, prepared to be owned at E3 2007. :P

Why hype a game from a developer that has no experience making goof FPS games. Thats what I always think when I hear killzone hype.

sorry but even guerrila has stated, they are a pc gamer dev, getting use to the PS2 was very hard for them. if they would ofworked on the xbox they would of felt more at home. you can read that here at http://en.wikipedia.org/org/wiki/Killzone

but i like i said, be prepared to be owned. :)

I played KZ, to tell you the truth, frame rates killed it. if only PS2 was strong enough to get rid of the frame rate drops, it could been a better game.

Maybe. Their budget is huge, their development team is huge. They are spending 100% of their time working only this game. Also, aren't they getting a lot of help from Sony, who we know is a very good developer? It seems like they are trying really hard t o impress us. I guess we just have to wait and see.

If by "get it right" you mean "good controls, good graphics, and fun gameplay", then sure. They can get it right. After all, Black had all of those last generation and was simply wonderful.

But Guerilla can't get it near-perfect, which is what cows are hyping them to do.

Sure they got the funding from Sony and horsepower in the PS3, but do they have the TALENT? No one knows. Guerilla doesn't have the kind of track record to prove that.

from your logic, your sayig the 360 should be a failure, because last gen it failed with only 30 mill sold vs 120 mill sold by sony. sorry but in reality, ppl can get better if they want to :)

I dotn understand your logic.

Everything you've said is based on the power and salery cap. Power doesnt make good games, and neither does a bigger funding scheme.

you're hyping the game, quite literally, off of nothing at all. And i mean, nothing, zero, nada, ziltch. We dotn know anything about the game. at all. negatory.

The most important thing to remember is that the Guerrilla making Killzone 2 ISN'T the same Guerrilla that made Killzone 1. They have a new console to work with, and a much bigger budget, but most importantly the team is like 4 times bigger now. They've added close to 100 new people to the team, that's a LOT of new talent. They are practically an entirely new team.

They can - but i dont think people should hype it up.

Anything could happen - it could be just as bad as the last one or it could turn out to be one of the best FPS games made.

The first two halo's were great AAA games winning many awards across the board and the multiplayer beta was apperently awsome considering the fatc that people have accually played it. based on this, it is only logical to hype halo 3.

I do believe your analogy has failed.

I swear everytime i see a KZ 2 hype thread, more of my nerver cells die. You're hyping the game off a 2 year old cgi trailer and off its budget.Thats getting a little desperate.

Im not saying KZ 2 wont be good, but lets wait till e3 before passing judgement.

Yep, we're hyping halo 3 off the mp beta cuz it had 900,000 players in the beta, which is more than killzone 1 sold at retail.

Get over it, Halo is a proven AAA franchise, KZ is an unknown commodity, so stop hyping it until you have some solid info on it

My guess is that its going to be decent...But then were going have to listen to how its the greatest shooter ever from Cows. To be honest...It better atleast be a AA game. For the amount of hype they are getting, for all that fake BS Press, For all that crap on Killzone. It better be atleast decent. The series is already known as the greatest flop...Do we need another addition?

Just to clear this up first, are you happily admitting that we know very, very little about Halo 3 - if anything - and that all we DO know is based off a very limited multiplayer beta with three maps and most of the new weapons and features not included? You'd agree with that?

That's complete nonsense. Bungie made the Myth and Marathon series of games, both of which are amazing and probably single-handedly saved Macs from being classed as "non-gaming machines" in their earlier days. The only game they've ever made which is anything less than awesome was Oni, a gap project on the PS2 released between games. And even then, that wasn't a bad game.

Get your facts straight. "Rough start"

Of course they can get it right. They have Sony holding there hand literally on this one. If sony was holding the hand of some newb designer that just learned C++. They could still teach that newb how to make a steller game. Just wait 15 days, you'll see ownage. I hope the crowd at the Sony booth is 4 times the size of the one at MS's.

No, that's not what you're doing at all. And you know it. And how dare you tell another person to grow up. If i came here and made a thread on how i think oxygen sucks, refused to allow anybody to tell me why my opinion was incorrectly founded, and made pointless, irrelevant remarks to avoid having to take part in any discussion do you think it would be fair for me to say "dude... its just like, my opinion."

No. It wouldn't. Nobody would give a crap about my opinion because it makes no sense and i'm completely unwilling to listen to anybody else's.

A forum is for discussion. If you want to blindly yell about your opinions and close discussion right there, go make a blog post.

hey if you didnt like the thread why even come in it and post? that is my question. you can sti there and make threads that bash the cows left and right, but when it comes to a console that you and i both own. all of sudden its all wrong.

This isn't a thread. This isn't a discussion. This is you, blindly posting your opinion. I came here and told you why i disagree, and you refuse to take part in any conversation. I also laugh at how you claim i'm a cow basher when in the other thread i'm complaining about Microsoft build quality and talking about how i think SSB will out-sell halo.

So you can lose your lousy "just cause you dont like playstation!!11" excuses. At the end of the day, you've made a thread on killzone and made posts on "teh halo 2.5". I'm attempting to talk about that and you refuse to answer any questions. Round and round we go.

[QUOTE="htekemerald"]Why hype a game from a developer that has no experience making goof FPS games. Thats what I always think when I hear killzone hype.alfy13

sorry but even guerrila has stated, they are a pc gamer dev, getting use to the PS2 was very hard for them. if they would ofworked on the xbox they would of felt more at home. you can read that here at http://en.wikipedia.org/org/wiki/Killzone

but i like i said, be prepared to be owned. :)

Guerilla has never made a good game.... ever. Their only PC game was simultaneously released for consoles sos they are not a PC dev.

He wont answer you. Allow me to show you a genuine set of posts:

Him: the original xbox was a flop because it lost 50 billion

Me: No, that's not a flop. That's an investment, and they are currently making that money back on the 360. Sony are doing the same thing with the PS3; getting as many out there as possible so that they can make the money back on the long term.

Him: Man, so you admit i was right! i love hypocrites!

I wish i was joking.

Guerilla has never made a good game.... ever. Their only PC game was simultaneously released for consoles sos they are not a PC dev.

from wiki

Dutch based Guerrilla Games, formerly known as Lost Boys Games, developed this game and caught Sony's eye. The gaming company showed Sony a demonstration of a first-person shooter that they were currently developing for Windows. Sony was impressed by the game and made a deal with Guerrilla to develop Killzone exclusively for the PlayStation 2. Sony then commissioned award-winning sci-fi author Joe Dever to develop the storyline and contribute to the game design.

Making the switch from programming for the PC to the PlayStation was not an easy task. Guerrilla spent two years learning the programming techniques of the console while they were still in pre-production. In 2001, Killzone was ready to be created.[citation needed] The public knew little about Killzone, but as information started to leak out about the game hype started to grow. A single blurry scan of a VHS was posted in a British video game magazine(PSM2), and eventually made its way onto the internet.

When Killzone was officially announced, expectations for the game were very high, and some gaming magazines dubbed the game a "Halo-killer", implying that the game would beat the wildly popular Microsoft first person shooter, Halo: Combat Evolved, even though Guerrilla Games insisted that they did not want to compete with Halo. On release, rumours of online cooperative play and hard disk support were proven untrue.[citation needed]

Ahhhh, E3 hype, it's been too long. How does Gamespot ever get by without all this...camaraderie...among members? (::Looks at Ninja-Vox and alfy13::)

And to answer the topic, yes. Guerilla can get it right. But just because they can doesn't mean they will, and a big budget doesn't magically equal success.

By that i assume you mean me making some points and trying to have a reasoned discussion about this, compared to him ignoring all the points and randomly coming out with "SO YOU ADMIT I'M RIGHT!" in situations whereby the exact opposite of this is clearly apparent.

Begging your pardon alfy, but i haven't said they're incapable of making a better game. So you'll happily answer posts i haven't even made, but after about an hour and a half still haven't answered the simple post about halo 3?

I'm not going to let you side track this any further. You made a thread about killzone and made comments about halo; answer the question or admit that you cannot. You've been dodging it for a rediculous length of time.

I await your either ignoring the post, or doing another thing were you just twist what's been said horrendously and dont answer it at all. Simple yes or no.

Hey Vox, I'm not trying to start a fight-I'm with you on this one anyway- I was just saying how funny all the hype is before E3. Everyone's bursting with eagerness and proudly wearing their teams colors (for better or worse).

It's like the moment before the world cup or super bowl, when everyone is full of hype and high hopes. Then the games happen, someone wins, everyone else losses, and we all go home and riot.
