well lets face gundam games suck. i did however like the dynasty warriors gundam game. but other than that they blow. but i have an idea which i searched for and didnt see anything like it. they should make a gundam RTS. it seems to be the only genre that would make sense for the gundam franchises. anyone else agree

I thought Zone of The Enders did a good job of having mechs and 3rd person camera/controls.

I wish they could. What I would give to have a decent Gundam game, but unfortunately, Bandai knows that the fanbase is so devoted that they don't even need to try and they can still make a million seller. Shame really, what I've always wanted is a Gundam game that truly defined its mecha, there are probably over 100 designs of mecha in the Gundam universe, yet they are all utilized so poorly that it's almost sad.

But yeah, I agree, a Gundam RTS sounds pretty cool. It could be heavily squad-based like Dawn of War, where you could have Zaku or Gundam squadrons, and then special units like the Red Comet or Talgeese and other famous Gundam units could be leaders with special abilities.

That sounds like a good idea. But, the Japanese won't buy it b/c most aren't into RTS, and the Americans won't buy it either b/c mech games aren't too popular in the states. ...wait, maybe the Japanese will buy the Gundam RTS. Video game giant robots = a hit in the East.

Gundam games suck for several reasons, the most obvious is that the developers have no idea what to do with the series aside from simple mashers. Some one made a good point about Zone of Enders being something Gundam games should strive for, I think the way they are presented would work really well for Gundam.

From a personal stand point, they need an original script, which should preferably tie into the UC timeline, and then work around that. I'd go so far as to say as having a Western developer make the game, or have someone like Hideo Kojima make it.

Something new is what Gundam needs.

its just that when you watch the shows, there is so much action and huge fights going one everyplace, which you just cant get in a third person gundam game where your gundam move so freaking slow.

They made a pretty good Gundam game for Dreamcast. It was basically a first person view where you looked out the Gundam's head or chest or whatever. It was slow paced but well designed. Your typical mecha game.

To make a truly great Gundam game you would have to have ground and space combat with spaceships fighting as well. It would be quite a production. The great thing about MSG the original series is every episode had some incredibly kick ass part where the Gundam jacks somebody out of nowhere. So a great MSG game would need that as well.

first off the first one for the ps 3 suck because it was to slow. that game has so much why it could be awesome but they failed to do it. the graphics was good but the gameplay sucked. they should make more like uncharted or gears covering system with larger scale players and make the buildings smaller.

Yes.

Gundam-based strategy games done by banpresto have always been great.

MS Gundam: Giren's Greed - Blood of Zeon is the best and deepest console strategy game out there.

The one game that could provide a good base for a truly good Gundam Shooter, is Armored Core. Armored Core and its brother Chrome Hounds are the only good Mecha Combat games out there with no more Mech Assult and Mech Warrior games. ZOE was OK forgiving its Bad story telling(Not including the Show and Movie), but i would see a Gundam in the place of a Armored Core/Next before any Orbital Frame. I like the grit of the AC games for the fact that you must pic the best parts to do the mission or run out of ammo, or just not have the goods to do the job. If a Gundam game had half that realistic grit (Real like the Gundam compared to like Escaflowne) then i would give a arm to get it. I have seen things like the Pods that play like a game of Steel Battalion, but that's not relay fun to me, and its not a in home option.

sometimes I see that game adaptations of anime are similar to those of movies and other licensed content, where they sometimes rely on the popularity of the series to get sales and losing focus on the quality. some turn out well, some don't. I've never played any of the Gundam games, but I've seen footage of Zone of the Enders and it looks epic. The reception for the ZOE games are also great.

but on another note, can Superman and Video Games ever mix? :o

Zeonic front, Federation vs Zeon and DW: Gundam were all good games. I think the series is capable of so much more than that though.

The point of the Gundam series is to create an emotional investment in the main character (the pilot) rather than the mech itself. If you only ever play the mech though, it seems somewhat disjointed and jarring. Its like the series needs you to feel something that it's not willing to give you in order to make the connection between onscreen avatar and player.

What the series needs is variety. Have the mech fights by all means, be it via armoured core style, ZOE, or some other mechanic. However, mix it up with COD4 or Battlefield style FPS mechanics. Allow the player to become the character rather than the mech, and get a sense of scale as you shoot at an enemy soldier, only for an MS to stomp down in front of you, glaring down ready to take you out unless you haul ass.

Might be a bit ambitious, but it would make for one hell of a game.

The only Gundam games Ive liked are Battle Assault 2 on the PSX and Musou on the PS3. The last one is the only one I feel has a closer feeling to the shows (though you still kill way more suits than in the show). They should improve the combat, create a new story using either the UC or an alternative universe of the UC. They should focus on the story and the problems of the pilot as I seriously think that they should go with the series idea of using an inexperienced youth to be the pilot. Your Gundam should be unique as it is supposed to be a secret weapon. The combat should be an improved version of the ZoE 2 engine. There should be an RPG element to the game with skills. Hold a focus on ammo since it was important in the old shows. The animations of the cutscenes must be anime made imo to keep more of the feeling of the show. And there should be aces too.

Gundam Side Story: Rise from the Ashes was the only good Gundam game to ever release because its the only one where you viewed the game from INSIDE the gundam like you should. It was a first-person game. There was shooting, lightsaber fights and high jumps with the jetpacks. The game is ok but I only recommend it to Gundam fans.

Here's a great Gundam game(sort of). If there could be a next generation Gundam type game like this released in America, I think it would be successful.
