Can Killzone now be considered as Halo Killer ?

I remember how much KILLZONE on PS 2 was hyped to be a Halo Killer , How it went on to become a mediocre shooter , getting very average reviews from everywhere and how it became a laughing stock amongst gamers specially amongst HALO fans .

Whereas now ... Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 on PS 3 are highly popular amongst Critics and Gaming Community for High Voltage Action , Top Notch visuals , engrossing multiplayer . If Halo is Top FPS game for Xbox 360 , now Killzone 2 and 3 are Best FPS game for PS 3 .

My Question is Can Killzone series now be considered as Halo Killer ? :)

No KZ will never be a Halo Killer, but the COD series already killed it so the better question can *insert FPS of the month* kill COD

No. I assume it would need to have killed Halo to have been a Halo killer. Halo Reach is still kicking. I also believe Halo is the better franchise.

killzone is still mediocre when compared to halo. the only thin better in killzone is its visuals. every other aspect is better in reach

When a shooter comes out without snipers, It will already have owned the ever living crap out of COD and halo and every other game with snipers in them.

Honestly they should just have named the game Sniperzone 3 and Battlefield sniper company and modern sniperfare/Sniper-ops.

How a PS3 exclusive slow tactical FPS was hyped to be a killer to a 360 exclusive fast paced FPS is beyond me. I've only played kz2 on my ps3 and halo:ce on pc and as far as i know the gameplay hasnt really changed since that. To me it seems Halo is the most fun experience overall.

Of course Killzone is a Halo killer. Everything about the 2 sequels on the PS3 is better than the Halo games, like graphics and gameplay.

Well if you manage to look past the fact that they're on different platforms and instead just look at sales and review scores (as most of this forum does), it's still a resounding no.

The only thing Killzone 3 killed....was itself

Gameplay - Nope (IMO and a lot of other people too)

Graphics - Sure why not. You can have the mediocre graphics king award.

This. Killzone 2 is for a very niche market, whereas Halo is made for the general public in mind. I am not implying that Halo is a casual game, it's just made from the ground up to be assesable for all audiences, where Killzone 2 isn't.

Killzone 3 tried to be crafted with the general public in mind, and it ended up being bad. GG should just stick to their niche style of game developement, because at least then the fanbase will stick around with it. Killzone 3 will probably be even more barren than Killzone 2 was in the next couple of months.

you dont have to be a killzone fan to see that halo is an overrated, sub-par series held aloft by its manic fanbase and massive sales. Alot of halo fans I talk to hated ODST and lots of them don't care for "reach." in fact, a few of ex-"halo fans" think that the series started going downhill with halo 3.

this is a good point and exactly why the "_____ killer" expression is asinine. it doesnt matter if something is released that is better than halo in every conceivable way (I mean, countless FPS games have done this). its not going to make people, all of a sudden, stop buying and playing halo games.
