What are your thoughts SW posters, do you think MS can compete in the mobile gaming world? Personally I think they can't, I feel MS will fail once again with their windows mobile OS, that game devs won't even try to make games for it, but ths is just my opinion. I hope MS proves me wrong,

Microsoft knows marketing, so they can defintiely overtake that crappy iOS. Dunno about Android. These phones are really neat.

Mango's are delicious but I'm wary of their ability to make and receive phone calls.

I feel like they already have in many ways. Dedicated XBox Live titles with achievements -- they have the developers that worked on XBox developing games for their own mobile platform.

They'll be fine in mobile gaming.

I reserve judgment still regarding WP7 (firmware: Mango) as I don't own one and am very pleased with my Samsung Infuse (very much recommend, although probably is better to simply get a Galaxy S II now), but I think there's space and with MS' pockets nothing is impossible. But they're too far behind in the game to overtake either Droid or iOS.

I like it a lot =). Build-in audio search without Shazam, take a photo and you can search the same product online, voice recognition search, turn-by-turn voice navigation, multi-tasking support, can upload video directly to Facebook without any app, and more. It will take awhile to get people's notice though, like many people don't even know what it is. I don't know if it can compete or not, but, I like my WinPh7.5 Mango a lot. =)magicalclick
You didn't list anything that my phone can't do.

It has the potential to be a powerful gaming platform. Unlike Android, Microsoft has a bit more control on what type of hardware is used for their Windows Phone. However, less potential than iOS in where Apple controls everything about the device, software and hardware. The hardware differences would require an API to joint development for the phone. Is a lot of optimization required for phones anyways? Not really. Microsoft would have to market the thing heavily and with their deal with Nokia, it can become easier.

I like how google does its work with companies. they allow the companies to pick which is their high end, mid end and lower end, which gives users a choice. as for me I am enjoying OOT on my epic touch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkoFBNSxS8Y with MHT adapt, i can plug it to my tv and use my ps3 controller to play.

In terms of mobile gaming, iOS is the clear frontrunner (regardless of market share). No one will probably ever come close.

It all depends on how their alliance with Nokia will go end up, if it's successful then WP7 will become huge in mobile gaming, if it's not then it will fail.

As an owner and follower of WP7 and all its updates, i have to say Mango is a jump int he right direction. Now, that being said, iOS and Android are miles ahead in terms of apps and users. Unless MS does some drastic marketing or changes, Windows Phones won't pass iPhones or Android anytime soon. \

But I love my phone.. i find it much much better than any other smartphone out there.. Microsoft is doing a great job at keeping its current users hooked.

love mango...was an early adopter of WP7 (had it since november) and was glad to see the improvements in the latest update. i don't really play many mobile games, but the ones i have are pretty excellent (the harvest, twin blades, tentacles, pvz). think i have about 15 or so.

If they can build up the connection between WP-Xbox-PC then I can see them having something the competition does not, not that it necessarily means anything in the global popularity contest, but I can see them making a phone I personally would want.

I force updated my phone to get the update. If you want the steps to force it, here you go:

1. Connect your Windows Phone to a PC and launch the Zune software. Make sure the Zune software is updated completely.

(Settings > Software > General > Check for updates). If there's an update for the software, install it (derp).

2. Click on Phone > Settings > Update. Allow the software to tell you whether an update is available. If so, skip this guide. If not continue to the next step.
3. Time to force the update. Click another button (like "Linking" or whatever). Then click the Update button again, and this time disconnect your computer from the internet after 1-2 seconds. Do this by pulling out the Ethernet cable, disabling Wi-Fi, et cetera. If it says your phone is already up to date, you didn't disconnect quickly enough and need to try this step again.
4. Wait 30 seconds or so while disconnected and Zune should display a notification that an update is available. This is likely 7392, the first Mango pre-update.
5. Now reconnect to the internet and continue with the update process through the Zune software.
6. After 7392 is fully installed, you may receive a notification that another update is available. If so, install it now. If not, repeat 3-5.
7. Install 7403.
8. Mango time! At this point, Zune should automatically start installing the last update, 7720, a.k.a. Mango. If it doesn't happen automatically, force it like we did in previous steps (so keep going until it says your phone version is 7.10.7720).
9. This last step is very important! Celebrate your phone's new found Mango status by purchasing a mango smoothie at your nearest Smoothie King, Jamba Juice, Baskin Robbins, or similar establishment.

Its much easier than the text looks, jsut takes timing haha. Im also on Rogers in Canada and it worked no problem.

Good luck guys! If there are any questions about the steps, PM me :)

ive thought about going to android or wp7 mango, but the apps on ios are freakin really good, and theres lots of em. the main thing that's holding me back from leaving ios is the apps.
