Here's hoping they don't. I don't think I want the video games industry to be what the author of that piece does.

Its interesting that perceptions differ depending on where in the industry you are speaking from.

not really, they're in it to take out Sony, and hypothetically saying that if they succeed then the competition won't be out there for them to create an awesome home console, they won't need to do much to be more powerful than Nintendo if they're still around if Sony wins it's the same thing neither of them are in it to help the industry but as long as their fighting a close fight I think the industry is better by that competition

Sad to see people saying, "the industry needs saving?" While you've been under rocks the industry has been sinking. I'm seriously worried that we may not have a games industry for long if this next generation give a big jolt. But no body knows what can save the industry right now.

I don't think there is a less customer-friendly industry on the planet than video games, and seeing how they are a luxury and not a necessity, I think a lot of people are getting fed up and moving on. Corporations like Microsoft, EA, and Capcom are only getting worse. I expect that we will see less variety in retail games next gen and the market will continue to shrink. PC gaming is only going to get better, though, as indie titles continue to close the gap with retail titles and actually be superior in many instances.

with sony seemingly trying to turn their "games" into interactive movies, i guess it's good that there's someone else we can rely on. :(

Microsoft has the money and the vision to forever alter the video game industry. It is time for SONY and Nintendo to react to Microsoft's lead. I'll take profitability over games any day of the **** year.

If the industry ever needs saving I wouldnt be looking to MS.. that is, unless we were asking them to fund talented devs.

the way I see it: m$: "How can we do a better marketing to lure people to buy our console to make money?" Sony:"What kind of games should we produce to gamers to make money?"

MS have done nothing but damage the game industry, a long history of killing off dev houses, pay to play online and day 1 dlc is all awful for gamers.
