I thought the great thing about the wii is that it was so much easier and cheaper to develop for.  Shouldn't the games be cheaper as a result?

Why are it's games $50?  Heck most of 360's first party titles are $50, pc games are $50.

Production costs aren't as high due to the fact that the graphical quality has less of an emphasis.

$49.99 was always the going rate on most PS2 and Xbox games.  A larger majority of new Xbox 360 and PS3 games are $59.99

And it is cheaper to produce for and b/c of that the developers make more money per game sold.  Economics say it stays at $49.99

Production costs are about that of last gen. Thus, the prices are the same as last gen.

Would you like games to come out CHEAPER than they were for the Gamecube and the like? Good luck with that.

Because the whole idea behind low development costs was one of nintendo's quests to regain 3rd party support, keeping the same price WHILE making games the same price not only gives gamers the same great games for a lower price than the competition but it also officializes the profit intended for devs and publishers.

Everybody wiins.

They are $50 because that is what they will sell for. I was hoping they would be cheaper myself but simply dont buy. They'll go down.

I haven't seen any Wii games exceed the $50 boundry set by Nintendo.  Alternatively, I've seen some games go for $40, and there are even games that go as low as $30 brand new.  That sure the hell beats paying $60+ for 360 and PS3 games.  Not to mention that when the games are cheaper, people buy more of them, and the industry benefits in the long run.

They should be 39.99 because the still use a gamecube developer kit to make them. Another question is why do you have to pay $50 altogether for controllers?

that's what I thought, almost all the "new" ps2, xbox, and GC games are going for $40 or less.

dunno why the controllers are $50 but I do know just about anything with the words bluetooth tends to cost alot.  Also all system controllers are going for alot this gen.

I feel sort of ripped of buying Wario Ware for $50, when I can get gears for just $10 more.  It's like getting $10 chicken strips when you could of got steak for a $2 extra.  Sure chicken strips are good and all but not really worth $10

I've seen WarioWare in the UK new for £35, and the normal game price is about £40, some 360 games even going above.

Just be happy you don't live in Australia. Just about all our Wii games are over $100 for us. That's if we even get them in the first place.

Most wiigames developed by nintendo are $50.Nintendo games tend to have a higher degree of polish and replayability. They almost never go down in price. Third party wiigames start at $50 and quickly go down in price to about $30 within half a year and eventually to $20. If you're shopping for wii games be patient for the third party titles. Xbox 360 and PS3games start at $60 and generallyretain thier value for about twice as long. The top selling games for those systems do go down in price eventually however.

Compared to Xbox 360 and PS3 games, that's pretty cheap ;). Devs have to work less hard to develop a game for the Wii than the other consoles. I'm not saying the devs aren't working hard to make games, I'm just...well, you get the idea :P.

GC, PS2, Xbox games were 50 dollars last gen

This gen the devs raised the price to 60 dollars for PS3 and 360 games

Nintendo said that they wont follow.. as a result we still have the 50 dollar price for Wii games

and why do you think mario galaxy or zelda TP is not worth 50 dollars.. this thread is bogus

Yea, keep a game that released almost 2 years earlier at 50$ yea thats great, I guess this could be applied to other series as well, let's keep all the final fantasy games at full price since they're all different even though some released like 20 years ago

It means Galaxy 2 could be painfully similar to the first. It is a direct sequel afterall.

Maybe it has something to do with the pricing of handheld games as well.

Handheld game new: $35-$40

Wii game new: $50

360/PS3 game new: $60

Nintendo puts themselves down too much. Just because everyone thinks Nintendo is not as cool or advanced as some of the other kids doesn't make it true.

What? The majority of PS3/360 games are $60.

And a lot of Wii games can be found for cheaper.

Games were $50 last gen and $50 the gen before. Technically gen game costs for PS3 and 360 should be around $80.

$50 is the same price as a Gamecube game at launch. I don't see what's there to complain about.

I'd rather get a game for $50 than $60-$65

Would people not bought the Wii if games where at $60? Is this the answer to the Wiis success, ten bucks less?!
