Can someone explain to me why Uncharted 2 is hyped so much?

So all I see is Uncharted 2 GOTY everywhere in these forums, and I have gotta say, nothing I have seen looks like it raises the bar. I played the first, I did love it for its story, and I am sure I will like this one. However, the gameplay looks the same, the MP may be fun but nothing revolutionary. So why is there SO much hype for this game? Where does it raise the bar? (Please dont say graphics, we know Crysis still looks better)

No, really, I love the characters, and the cinematic aproach of the gameplay.

I must admit there's a lot of hype. Still I think it's going to be a great game, because the first was great and the second will be better.

What is it that in SW every single exclusive coming out on PS3 needs to

1) Raise the Bar (what bar exactly?)

2) Change completely the gameplay mechanics (why is that? it should just improve & add some new features, considering a sequel should retain the same familiar feeling of its predecessor)

3) Be revolutionary (why again should every PS3 exclusive be revolutionary to the gaming industry?? )

Also why did you feel the need to remind AGAIN everyone that consoles cannot match PC visuals.. Let me remind you that WE ALL know there is no console game that matches Crysis in terms of visuals.. thanks!!

PS. Never met you in the U2's beta, did you even try it out or just made your conclusions based on a few shots / gameplay vids..

I dont know about GOTY but it will be a stellar title.

i dunno if it'll be game of the year but what i do know is it will be great and i was sold at the E3 gameplay demo... i mean fighting in a collapsing building? it looks like those " OH SH!!!T !!" moments i look for in a game like this. I want to feel like i'm in the heat of the action, and uncharted does that extremely well.

I've only seen the G4 E3 coverage of the game, and I thought it looked like a typical third person shooter with some "ooooooo-awww" moments placed here and there. I wasn't really impressed with the demo myself.

even better physics and animations than the first (and thats saying something because they were fantastic in the first)

new online competitive or co-opmultiplayer.

A game doesn't have to raise the bar for it to me GOTY. I just has to be a better experience than the rest. (In most cases anyway).

Uncharted 2 certainly is a contender. It looks excellent.

imo the game is really similar to gear not just because of gameplay but the cinematic nature of the game and summer hollywood action flick type feeling. uncharted really excels at creating more in depth character and have not only technically amazing graphics but also creates beautiful and colorful environments. my main problem with the first one was that there wasn't a lot of replay value but that looks different this time around from the beta the co op is solid while the competitive is surprisingly fun.

That goes for every hyped game: It just looks too good for them.

you guys know that because its a sony exclusive its getting the most hype. dont kid around. theyr're are games trying to do new and different things yet you dont hear crap about them.

oh also its on my hyped list because i am really looking forward to the seeing the characters of uncharted back in another game! it may sound corny but Uncharted has very likeable and human characters. I';m getting rather bored of the standard seen it done that steroid using space marine whether it be Master chief, the whole cast of Gears, the whole cast of killzone 2, nathan hale from resistance... uggghhh

The multiplayer beta was really fun, thats how the hype started, we've yet to see any single player gameplay footage.

It looks awesome, theres variety in gameplay, best visuals on a console, the multiplayer is top-notch, the story so far sounds good, animations look smoothe.... what else could you ask for? Gonna be awesome :D

What else is there to hype for 2009? Ratchet & Clank? I'm sure it'll be a good game but nobody cared about it last time and I doubt they'll care about it this time.Senor_Kami

It's hyped because everything has been improved since the first. Combined with mutliplayer that is fun, and co-op that is also fun, it should be a solid GOTY contender.

But yeah, seriously no "legit" reason to hype the game since apparerntly every game must do what Galaxy did to be worth hyping.

They are taking what was good in the first Uncharted, making it better, and adding new stuff that works great, as well as adding online and offline Co-Op, and online multiplayer, and is also said to play like a movie, with up to 90 minutes of cinematics.
