Sony has had enormous success with making the best hardware. In its four generations of existence, 3 out of the 4 systems that came out were enormous successes from launch. Sony then went into portables and created the PSP and Vita which nothing could really contend against. The Sony brand is associated with solid hardware and tech. No other gaming company has come close. Agered?

I feel like you've already made a thread like this before...

Anyways, what do you mean by "best"?

I'm sorry but the Xbox absolutely destroyed the PlayStation 2 in a hardware capacity and the Xbox 360 produced roughly the same graphical output and performance as the PlayStation 3 with a ridiculously more easy coding environment.

2/3 PlayStation devices were outclassed by Xbox's, it doesn't seem so impressive now, does it.

Something isn't right here, I feel that this thread was made before but anyways, I'll go with a yes, since all my times from PlayStation to PS4 as of now, I never had a hardware issues from Sony but going by the best gaming hardware maker of all times, not really, but okay in my books.

and all it took was an American game developer to make them realize if they pulled that shitbag Cell bullshit again then the PS name would be dead forever. Thank you my American overlords.

Microsoft and Nintendo both have better designed and built hardware. Try again.

@nyadc: The PS2 came out a year earlier then the Xbox, the PS3 was more powerful and more reliable and the PS4 beats the X1. Sorry MS isn't close to Sony when it comes to hardware.

Nintendo is the best of the three, not power wise but longevity.

@AM-Gamer: PS4 has more power under the hood, but that's just the engine. Everything else on the system is flemsy compared to the XB1. PS4 wobbles, cracks and pops, overheats etc. while the XB1 is a much more solid system with faster start up, disc eject, shut down, better UI with more features, and best of all, a better controller.

XB1 also has more quality exclusives coming down the pipeline than PS4 does. All PS4 really has is hollow hype and sales.

The Sony built the hardware with the best games for 4 generations in a row.

And? The PS2 came out a year after the Dreamcast, that means nothing. The PS3 was mostly theoretically more powerful and showcased it SOMETIMES in first party games, however multiplatform games, the games which made up the bulk of both libraries were better performing on the Xbox 360. It doesn't matter if the original console had cooling issues which resulted in device failures, it was a better piece of hardware and on average outputted better results all the while being better for developers.

Microsoft outclassed Sony in hardware 2 out of 3 times.

Nope.

Since Generation 5 to Present, of the Playstations, only PS1 & PS4 were great, in terms of programming efficiency.

PS2 and PS3 were nightmares.

Sony make the best hardware? lol no. None of the big three make, nah, use good hardware. There is a reason why they are so cheap! DRE, YLOD, RRoD anyone?

WTF? The PS3 came out a year after the 360. If you can use that bullshit, then it has to count against you. Fact is NO, they aren't the single best hardware maker. I don't care how powerful you think PS3 was it didn't show it outside of a few games. It was a failure for the majority of its library, like the X1 is this gen. Majority of library is multiplats and PS3 didn't run them as well as 360.

As for the year before bullshit excuse HAHAHAHAHAHAHA How can you even try to use that and think the same cant be said for your precious PS3?

360 had RROD, PS2 had DRE. I say Nintendo are still the best, especially considering their longevity, hardware maker.

You mean power and build quality? Build quality and efficiency goes to Nintendo, power as well 6th gen and prior.

This generation is the only one where they've had the most powerful console, the Ps2 could only compete with the dreamcast, and was a pain to develop for. The Ps3 was at best on par with the 360, and an even bigger pain. In the handheld space they've had the most powerful hardware, but Nintendo's handhelds have never been focused on power from the beginning.

Playstation have been the best consoles to own arguably every generation they've been a part of. I expect PS4 to do the same in the end.

Nintendo stuck with cartilages way to long.

Anyway I always liked SEGA best. Nothing wrong with their hardware. MS took the DC controller for inspiration.....but since they came out a couple years later I'd hope they'd have better tech.

Also the 360 had major problems so it doesn't give MS the edge.

The 360 had one oversight in one aspect of its original design, the package itself though, as a piece of technology was a better device than the PS3.

Over the course of the generation it produced better results than PlayStation 3 for most of the games released. Hardware power becomes irrelevant when it's too convoluted to access by developers.

The cell could be considered the largest hardware defect of last generation due to poor design choices that made it exceedingly hard to code for, worse than the Saturn even. It's a worse oversight than a faulty cooling method as it can never be corrected and for the life of the console produced an overall less capable system, I don't know how you can see that as better. The 360 was fixed and it was never an issue again, however the standing result is you got better performing games over the entirety of the generation.

Haha, no, it had more complex architecture, not better, complexity in architecture is not good, it means a lesser return and difficult coding.

Who is talking about development? That's a job for developers to figure out. In regard to this thread I'm looking at it from a consumer standpoint. And MS had hardware failure rates that were rather high for much of the generation.

Difficulty in development due to complex hardware architecture translates to a worse consumer experience via game performance and output, this must be endured infinitely and will never change.

If a movie is reviewed poorly then that is that, a movie cannot be changed, it's not a dynamic medium, a game that reviews poorly can however be altered into a better product, it is a dynamic medium. That is the PlayStation 3 versus the Xbox 360, one's failures in design could never be corrected, the others could have been and were.

They didn't design the hardware any more than I designed my last PC.

Sony with the cell processor I guess, but the real people who did the designs are the engineers working at intel, AMD, Nvidia and the rest of the PC hardware people.

Sorry guys, the console teams are more system integraters than hardware designers.

MS still can't figure out how to properly integrate the power supply within the console. By default they are out and we all know about Nintendo and their obsession with weirdness. Sony is the only correct answer.

Easily Sega and Nintendo, with a nod to Microsoft for the original xbox. Sony produces the worst hardware. The PS3 is the most solid effort by sony.

Sorry dude but when it has defects it's not getting my vote.

Careful there Stretch Armstrong.

@nyadc: Lol no it didn't... The PS3 was superior to the 360. More reliable, better graphics on exclusives and more features(Bluray) etc. You give the 360 the nod for better multiplats which wasn't even an advantage the entire gen.
