Can We All Agree That The Ps3 Will Out Sell The 360 Because Of Blu-Ray?

Giving people more than one reason to buy your product, plus upgrades to the product via firmware downloads = futureproof.

PS3 is giving people a lot of reasons to buy it, not just games, but the games are still the focus. What I really like about Sony is that they use the other features of the PS3 with the games.

The PS3 will eventually surpass the 360 in sales , and games and the playstation brand/ps2 userbase will do more for the PS3 than blu-ray would ever dream of doing.

Yeah no kidding. Why is it always "PS3 will outsell the competition because of Blu-ray"? As if the machine doesn't offer a ton of other great reasons to buy it that don't involve over-paying for HD movie discs that a great number of people still can't enjoy due to lack of HDTV.

I mean, seriously! Sony always shoe horn features into there gaming devices for failure proof. I mean, its been done with every sony console. There selling point other than the games, have always been its media abilities. The ps2 basically took off instantly, because the ps2, though a gaming device was also looked at as a cheaper inexpansive DVD player.

Though the psp was also used as a media device with the um feature, the fact that its selling now isn't because it has good games, but because its actually being used for its other media compatibilities. I notice that people actually use there psp, not for gaming but for mp3 play back. The fact that the psp hardware is actually selling while the software for the handheld isn't basically tells you that whats actually keeping the psp around is its media features. I could also say the fact that it can be hacked easily is another reason why its selling.

The ps3 is clearly selling well because its being sold as a media device, a blu-ray player as they call it. Its clear its a video game system, but when it has another feature such as a new form of video format, then the public will clearly wanna buy it. I think a lot of lemmings can all agree that if and when the ps3 actually out sell the xbox360, its not cause it has good games but because it actually is a blu-ray player. This is clearly sony's way of actually selling there consoles.

If microsoft were to include hd-dvd's out of the box i'm pretty sure it would of sold more xbox 360's than it have sold currently. We can all agree that ps3 will outsell the xbox 360, because of its ability to play blu-ray movies, right?

I wouldn't say because of blu ray the PS3 will out sell the 360, I'd say blu ray will help PS3 sales and will help the overall sales that fanboys will use in next gen wars.

Hell no. How many people buy the PS3 just for the Blu-Ray player? A fraction.

Though the Blu-Ray is defeantly helping the sales, influencing people to buy a PS3 over a 360. It is a selling point.

Second, there will be no Blu-ray add-on for the 360!! It's been confirmed by MS! So just keep your HD-DVD add-on (sucker) :D

then again people mostly buy psp's for its mp3 features and other none gaming features, which is why it sells. the games on the other hand hardly sell on the psp. im assuming the same could be with the ps3. the games hardly sell, but the hardware actually does, or i should stay starting to sell. i see it picking up more all because of blu-ray movies, rather than the games it hasRahnyc4

It is really hard to say what is going on with the PSP and software , it could be a deadly combination of piracy and hax , people just losing interest in buying games after they buy it , or they are using it for multimedia , or any combination of those things ...... all we can do is speculate on those things but nothing is certain. But comparing it to the PS3 right now is not a good one at all if you ever looked at the software numbers , userbase numbers , and how long the systems have been out.

It will sell well until cheaper in spec blu-ray players are out. Sony said a while back that we will not see $200 blu-ray players anytime soon and that $300 will as low it goes in 2008. Those will likely be clearance sales on the current ones that aren't even in spec. Who knows when that could be though. Plus, the PS3 with reduced gaming features is that one thats selling the most.

Game sales need to pick up though. All the other systems were doing well on the charts at this time in their life. The PS3 is only doing comparably well in Europe/Others. Judging by Japan, its gonna be like the 360 with one game on the chart every once in a blue moon. In the US it looks like PS3 hardware sales will have to triple before game sales equal what the Wii and 360 were doing with 1/3 the install base.

Plus, I always thought companies took a loss on hardware sales to recoup in software sales. Are there any million sellers that are japan only or us only? I wonder if developers are pondering dropping resolution going 360 as well. Some of you guys may not think it matters but i'm sure game makers care about game sales...

Man you must be smart enough to post comments which actually make sense... If you dont like PS3 dont get it but stating that it will outsell the Xbox360 just because its a Blu-ray makes no sense...

The only blu-ray movies I saw on my PS3 total to around 4 with one of them being 007: Casino Royale which Sony sent me as a compliment for free cause I registered on the PS Network which btw I dont even have to pay any fees for... I just use my PS3 for gaming and Online Browsing sometimes...

Reasons why PS3 will most probably outsell the Xbox360 will be purely for the games and the reliable hardware...

Gotta love MS fanboy logic, first all I hear is "A video game console wont have any impact on a format war!", then later they said "Well the HDTV attach rate is low!" and now the popular excuse is "People only buy a PS3 for Blu ray!"

Lets get one thing straight both Sony and Gamestop confirmed a 5 game attach rate with the PS3. The same as the Wii and the 360 when it was a year and a few months old.
