hello joos and bros

as far as rpgs go, which single game is your fav? which series do you really like and which type of rpg do you like? aside from the rocket propelled grenade because we all like those.

personally i enjoy strategy rpgs. although it is a ripoff of fire emblem, i enjoy theshining force series. lunar is also another goodie, along with lufia. my fav rpg isnt a strategy rpg but its still a goodie, panzer dragoon saga. thats it for me. really im looking for something new. maybe someone has a game or series i havent heard of that they are fond of and willing to share. who knows.

I have no favorite RPG games, and my favorite genres are Roguelike, Dungeon Crawler (not the crap like Torchlight and Diablo), and Tactical RPG.

Final Fantasy IX is my favorite RPG. I'm fond of the FF series and prefer turn based RPGS.

The Pokemon series (specifically Pokemon Silver) is another one of my favorites.

my personal favorite RPG is Shining Force on the Mega Drive, it is a TRPG and definetly AMAZING

second favorite Id have to say would go to Pokemon SIlver, despite being really simple for an RPG, I just found it was pure straight plain fun and def kept me hooked for over a hundred hours.

Im a Action RPG man myself. My favorite series of that genre being a very old SNES series called the "Heavens Sword/Quintet Trilogy", the "Tales of..." series and a series by the name of Ys.

If I had to pick 1 game of those series to be my favorite it would be Ys III: The Oath of Felghana. A relatively unknown but simply fantastic RPG.

I love every type of RPG. Although I prefer turn based RPGs, CRPGs, and dungeon crawlers. My personal favorites are XenoGears (PSX), PlaneScape Torment (PC) and Vagrant Story (PSX). All three of those games were great when it came to their stories, characters, settings and gameplay.

3. Dragon Quest V
2. Chrono Trigger
1. Final Fantasy VI

I never understood why people called those "traditional", sure they influenced what WRPGs are today but they are in no way traditional.

P.S. The "genres" listed aren't genres.

that is what makes the game good. you die, you are dead. it does suck losing ANY character but it makes you really PLAY with strategy. sometimes tho theres no way around sacrifice. in war, someone has to die :D

At the moment I'd say my favourite RPG were to be Persona 3. It's not been too long since I finished it for the first time and the game's still stuck in my mind (it'll do that to you if you spend 100 years on it like I did). Pokemon Silver is one of my old favourites. The first two were fantastic, but Gold and Silver took that formula and perfected it (not to mention being about twice as large).

It was released in 1974, people make games with ASCII just because it's faster to develop.. Rogue, the first game with ASCII was developed in the 1980s.

Nothing beats a tabletop RPG with a good dungeon master.

If we're talking the electronic type, here are a few right off the top of my head in no particular order:

  • Planescape Torment
  • Lunar
  • Ultima Underworld
  • Shadowrun (Genesis and SNES)
  • KOTOR
  • Secret of Mana
  • Xenogears
  • Mass Effect

Currently loving Dragon Age and Borderlands

You should also check my blog if you want to get into dungeon crawlers/older RPGs, I wouldn't really say I'm advertising it but I think it might help.

P.S. if you want to know more then I listed just PM me I can tell you others.

That wasn't my picture and I haven't had those two items before so I can't say, if you wish to play download this.. If I remember correctly it comes with the program.

Oh,great! Thanks.

You should also check my blog if you want to get into dungeon crawlers/older RPGs, I wouldn't really say I'm advertising it but I think it might help.

Final Fantasy IX is my favorite RPG. I'm fond of the FF series and prefer turn based RPGS.

The Pokemon series (specifically Pokemon Silver) is another one of my favorites.

Planescape: Torment. gamer620

I've heard a lot of people say that this game is their favorite RPG ever, but I've never played it. Can someone clarify the reasons for its high praises?

Bioware RPG's are m y favorite. Last gen it was Jade Empire, this gen it's Mass Effect. Fallout 3 is right up there though as is Oblivion. I can't do turn based JRPG's.
