Wii may be in danger of the same thing that put down the Gamecube. Nintendo has already released most ofit's best franchises(Mario, Metroid) or soon will(Smash bros, Mario kart), so what do Wii have to look forward to in the future? Can games like Animal crossing and Zelda wii hold their own against the non-stop wall of hardcore games coming to the 360 and PS3? By themselves, I doubt it. luckily however, Wii has the casual gamers to give them the pushes they'll need when times are tough. On the other hand, the Wii may have outsold the 360, but Microsoft is far from down for the count. The apparently never-ending onslaught of action games seams pretty tough at the moment. And when it comes to the hardcore, I'm afraid there's no denying that the 360 and PS3 have more fans. So when it comes down to sales, It's Nintendos massive and ever-growing casual customers against the 360 and PS3s smaller but more dedicated graphics and violence addicts(Sorry if that came out a little bias). There may be more casuals, but they probably won't buy nearly as many games as hardcore players. Which is better?! Nintendo also has a lot of hardcore fans as well, but are their numbers great enough? Right now the future seams unpredictable to me, unless Nintendo can do something drastic. If it is to be sure to win, Nintendo will have to compromise and give at least a few games less limited online, voice chat, voice acting and blood and gore as well as draw in a greater number of third-partys. This would most likely effectively bring enough hardcore gamers to their side to assure a victory in the console wars. The 360 seams that it's as good as can be, so if Nintendo can just be a little less family freindly they would have this thing in the bag. So can Wii do it?

P.S. I acknowledge that everything in this thread is my opinion, not fact. So please don't explode into flames if you don't agree.

The Wii made news headlines this year talking about how hard it is to find. Nintendo is still gaining casual appeal and could pull off a victory in sales.

the chicken kicks the wii's ass anyday. crispy strips and boneless fillets from KFC over Zelda lol.

But seriously. Yeah I have the same feeling to. For me I guess there is F-zero and mario kart and brawl aswell as a few others. There is certainly enough good games on the wii coming out for me but I feel nintendo has released all of its biggest titles except brawl.

I don't think you realise the number of IPs Nintendo actually has. Kirby, DK, F-Zero, Pilotwings, Wave Race, Mario Golf, Baseball and Tennis. That is only the start and then include WiiFit and a possibility of a Nintendogs game and the Wii is unstopable.

No doubt they have a lot. Its just a lot of them aren't great anymore. F-zero, animal crossing etc is still awesome and the mario sports are alright, can be fun. But Donkey kong has really lost it. And kirby is still only really good on handhelds.

well ninty still have a few tricks left like a new zelda (09 at the earliest mind), fzero, kid icarus and a crap load of other IPs to call upon.

i do agree about ninty needing to get their online sorted though. i dont mind it beiong basic (its free afterall) but i would expect some ways of communicating, even if its jsut a keyboard. otherwise whats the point? may as well play against the AI.

but the crucial thing is 3rd party. nintendos only one company, they cant keep every secor fo the market happy all by themselves. so comany can pull that off. they have done what they can to keep long time fans and the new markets happy but at some stage 3rd parties are going to have to get their ass in gear. theres only so much crap that can be put on a system before it saturates. with wii sales continuing to outpace its competitors, 3rd parties are going to have to start putting some real effort in. otherwise their titles will be lost in a sea of cookie cutter games. as we have seen, effort can be rewarded on wii if the game is backed properly. alot of nintys titles have hit the million mark and a few 3rd party titles have also done so so there are markets and interests there. but they really need to put the effort in. and back up these titles with proper marketing.

the nice thing about the wii is that it costs less to make a game for it. so it doesent have to sell as much as a 360 or PS3 game to turn a profit. however its not an excuse for laziness. the wii market is going to get very competative and 3rd parties will have to find a way to make superior games to their competitors on the machine. and they need to back them up with proper marketing.

i think the important question is can 3rd parties do the buisness on wii? or are they going to put their fingers in their ears, shout lalala and pretend it doesent exist?

YES!!!! The wii can certainly continue to beat out the competition. The wii may be small and might have slightly worse graphics but the wii is fun and addicting to play. Anyone who is not a hardcore gamer will love the wii. Yes the wii has already used some of its better game franchises but that doesnt mean that nintendo cant surprise us with a great game that isnt mario or zelda. In my opinion sony really screwed up with the ps3 but nintendo and microsoft did something right, they made gaming fun.

Am I the only one that thinks Kirby in 3D would be cool?
