I mean I know it is still selling well, and I have one (smash bros), but if you would have told me that before it came out.

The way it is still selling out yeah I can believe it. Nintendo must be making a ton of money.jakaraithey are. but they will never be as rich as sony and m$ ;P
The point of a price drop is to make something sale better? Nintendo will drop the price when they are more worried about sales. But why do it for no reason.HarlockJCOut of the goodness of their hearts :D
Yeah I heard about that. Is it struggling over here or what? Cause if not, that's just downright low. They just announced they will be raising the price of the Wii in Britain.

Did the 360 and PS3's prices get raised?
they are. but they will never be as rich as sony and m$ ;P Well, Nintendo is currently a videogame only company. Sony and Microsoft has other markets to fall upon, like Sony's consumer TV's and electronics and Microsoft's computer software.[QUOTE="jakarai"]The way it is still selling out yeah I can believe it. Not yet.No I meant it's just like I can't believe they haven't had to have a drop. I mean the lineup isn't exactly stellar right now. I guess you would think that some of the hype would wear off.

It's due to trading fluctuations.
Right now, the Japanese Yen is POUNDING the crap out of the $$$ (Nintendo last year actually lost around 200 million due to the strength of the Yen against the weak as ass $$$). The British pounds is even worse against the Yen. Due to the fact that keeping the current British price, after sales, Nintendo actually loose money (compared to earning a profit in both Japan and the U.S.), Nintendo is forced to raise the price on the Wii to retailors, NOT the end consumers! Whether retailors chooses to pass on that cost increase to the end consumer, is up to them.

I don't see MS or Sony selling every console they produce either.

Did the 360 and PS3's prices get raised?
Not yet and it's unlikely. The PS3 is already too expensive so a price raise would be Sony shooting themselves in the foot that hasn't healed from all the other times they shot themselves in it. MS won't do it because they aren't monstering Britain. Nintendo is the only console that has the demand to get away with something like this.I got a arcade 360 and HDMI cable for like $230 (after Tax) , and got the $30 harddrive + 3 months of live deal, so $260 with everything you need, Wii starts at $280 in canada.. and I'm going to need to buy a component cable too cause of my HDTV.. it doesn't make sense when the Wii isn't even close to being as powerful as the 360, and its more expensive out of the box, then the 360 with several things bought separately.
So Yes, I believe it should have gotten a price drop.

Do you have built-in Wi-fi in your Xbox360 ?
Don't forget, the Wii is technology

Publicly traded companies have no hearts.
i don't think any of the consoles will get a pirce drop until at least holiday 09 believe it or not it costs almost $240 to make a wii with all manufacturing and licensing fees i've read. i'd expect though a price drop on DSi by holidays, i imagine it will sell well anyway, but nintendo could drop it to $150 or probably $130 in a few months like with DS phat and DS lite
additionally if MS were to make the arcade 360 $150 i'd pick one up, and i'm sure nintendo would drop wii to $200 or $150

Based on Market Cap, that is accurate. Sony is at $35B, Nintendo is at somewhere around $48B (hard to say---their financial stats are always in yen), and Microsoft is around $176B.Thing is, if Nintendo's supply of Wiis are consistenly selling close to full capacity (selling out or coming close) each time, then they're at the optimal selling price, according to Econ 101. Now, if their sales falter a bit and they start seeing back stock, then perhaps the time has come to shave the price to move more units.
Not in the slightest, it may come as a shock to you but Nintendo is a cmpany and as such wants your money, if the Wii is still selling extremely well why drop the price?? hat would make no business sence, once the sales of the Wii slow down dramatically then we can expect a price cut.

Don't expect a price drop at all :P

And also you get a Nunchuk, and a game, and the controller is wireless. And wasn't the launch price of the PS2 $299? Wii is pretty cheap from the start especially when you factor in inflation. And lets not forget 100% BC, which neither 360 or PS3 have.
If they did lower the price at this point, people would be mocking them for being so dumb to purposely lose money for no reason. If you are an executive at Nintendo and pitch this idea now, the quarterly and annual numbers would be lower and you could cost the company millions needlessly. You do price drops when it makes sense, not to be 'nice'. these are companies, not charities.
It prints money. Hell, they raised the price in the UK. Nintendo understands that as long as things keep selling, they will never have to drop the price, no matter how cheap the hardware gets to manufacture. It will only continue to print even more money.
Their games *should* be dropping though. Despite starting at $50, they should be down at $30 after a year.
Me thinks they is going to have a price drop soon. Why? Look how the sales have dropped in Japan.
-Reggaeton-
Actually, Japan has gone stone cold handheld crazy ever since the DS realise.......And recently, with the release of Yakuza 3 and RE5, those game gave the PS3 and X360 a nice little jump start. But don't expect it to last. Once games like Muramasa, FF and ARc Rise hits the Wii, it's gonna go back to normal. I think Nintendo will do multi-colors first before doing a price drop.
It just had a price increase in the UK, so no.Willy105Canada too... went up for 10$ but so did the wii fit and mario kart lol
