Can't stand Gears 5's graphics......

Anyone else annoyed by the graphics of gears 5?....not only is it not an improvement from gears 4 but the artsytle doesn't look good at all, much like a higher res 360 game. I thought for a current gen game, expecially using the unreal engine it would look much better.....a touch of photorealism would have been nice. Is it because they are pushing 60fps.....or something so the graphics take a hit...geezus it's ugly.

Thoughts?

I think it looks great myself and a step up from Gears 4.

It looks like Gears 4.5, but that's not a bad thing. I like some of the set pieces in the game, like the sailing stuff.

Looks pretty good to me. It's not trying to be graphics king. Gears 4 also looked pretty good and was well optimized.

@fastnslowww: Dude, that game isn't even out yet and you already complaining about it? Word of advice, pretty graphics aren't everything ya'know.

I think it looks amazing, especially the lighting. That and Modern Warfare look like the best upcoming games graphically.

Game looks fine to me although I was expecting them to push the graphics a bit harder since Xbox One X came out.

There is enough gameplay footage out there to judge...it simply looks too close to gears 4, they played it safe...sadely. Graphics is what pushed and showcased the original gears of war, even 2 and 3 showed graphical improvements and differences. Perhaps thats thanks to cliffy b...sucks he isn't part of the development.

There are incremental changes to Gears 5 over Gears 4. They're not massive, but they're there. Most notably, the campaign now runs at 60fps like the multiplayer on the X. It's typical to see sequels released in the same gen only look marginally better than the previous entry. There's only so much you can do.

The worst part is the character models and animations. They look like a bunch of Buzz Lightyear dolls running around.

MS only knows how to churn out samey products. No boundary pushing whatsoever

This is part of the problem i have with MS studios. They just seem to lack the passion. It's a good looking game no doubt but compare it to GoW, UC4 or HZD and it still has a ways to go. The animations really stick out to me as they are almost identical to the original Gears of War.

I think it looks alright to me. Gears 5 wasn't trying to be this graphics king at all. That said, I'm gonna play it on PC anyways to get the best out of it.

Gears 4 was disappointing graphically. Gears 5 looks pretty bad so far too. No wow factor.

I expected a huge jump with the power of next gen consoles and Xbox one X....

And nothing. Nothing wow’d me.

Unreal engine 4 is trash lol. Why even claim it’s version 4 if it’s just 3.5 at best?

Oh well. Maybe next gen Gears won’t suck graphically.

Gears 5 looked real good. The previous stuff didn't wow me graphically, but the latest trailer did. Maybe watch on a TV rather than your phone, cause I just watched Gears 4 trailer and Gears 5, and there is major upgrade, and damn sure is when Gears 4 trailers are all 1080, and can watch Gears 5 in 2160.

Maybe people been eating too many pee mushrooms, cause Gears 5 with NIN song in trailer, it was lit af.

Gears 5 graphics however does fall in line with SW material but at the end of the day, this thread sure backfire on TC cause there's nothing wrong with Gears 5 graphics.

I see all this non sense like “I thought with the X out they would’ve done more”. But it’s not exclusive to the X and PC. It has to run on the S and launch X1 also. Those won’t be able to run it in 4K 60fps tho. It’s like I said, nothing they do is gonna be good for some people. Those people want us to believe they are level headed but it’s just not true. They don’t like Xbox and nothing will be good enough

Cows: Game looks terrible, last gen, etc

Lems: Game looks fine, graphics arent everything, etc

Gamers: Its Unreal Engine 4 with Xbox One as a baseline. It will look much better on PC as Gears 4 did

I love gears and I truly hope I’m wrong but gears 5 just seems off to me...

Going to be an interesting week for reviews around September.

Gears 5 releases Sept. 10th, and Borderlands 3 is out on the 13th. There could be surprises and meltdowns galore.

I think it looks great graphically. Is it graphic king worthy? No, but it is more than serviceable while playing it. some of you have impossible standards that cannot be met...
