Different folks, different strokes. Capcom producer Jun Takeuchi (Resident Evil 5, Lost Planet 2) has good things to say about the console. What about From Software's Masanori Takeuchi? According to Capcom's Takeuchi, when Capcom was developing Devil May Cry 4, he thought this was the Xbox 360's limit. But again, when they were making Resident Evil 5, the game fit within those boundaries, and ditto for the upcoming Lost Planet 2. "I was like," says Takeuchi, "'This hardware is deep!'" He goes on to say that he was surprised and that "This is good hardware." While From Software's Masanori Takeuchi is not disparaging about the Microsoft hardware - but rather, the situation it puts Japanese developers in. According to Takeuchi, developing for the Xbox 360 is "difficult". "Japanese game makers want to make games for Japan," he explains. But things like the low install base in Japan mean that developers must think about creating titles for a larger audience. "The fact that you must make games for a global audience," he explains, "makes the Xbox 360 a difficult platform." Hey, in this sluggish Japanese game industry, making hit games at home isn't easy either. http://kotaku.com/5304192/capcom-developer-vs-from-software-developer-on-xbox-360 I apologize if is old.

Perfect example of the disconnect between last gen and this gen. Last gen and the gens before that, the console gaming scene was dominated by eastern developers that made games of a distinctly eastern style mostly to cater to the large base of eastern gamers. Western console gamers just got table scrapes in a sense. All the big development for the western audience was garnered on the PC. Fast forward to today and the Xbox360. The eastern audience has since turned their backs on the traditional console market and embraced the newly dominating handheld market. The western audience has embraced western development that used to be exclusive to the PC but has now found a home on consoles.

That leaves the eastern developers that want to develop for the consoles up the creek without a paddle. The audience for eastern styled eastern developed console games has shrunk and diminished as eastern gamers demand development and garner the most sales for their platform of choice the DS and to a lesser extent the PSP. Eastern developers have trouble competing with western developers when it comes to catering to the western market, just as the inverse would also be true. Thus we have the situation where their isn't nearly the demand for eastern style games on consoles as their was in the previous generations of consoles.

Capcom should Focus on the ps3 to maximize their profits and get the best out of their games

The 360 will get discontinued by M$ and the Wii is a JOKE

The PS3 is hardly better and the Wii's software sales in Japan are really bad.

I hope the transition to more westernized games in consoles is good. If it is anything like what we see in movies then it will suck. Asian films are incredibly varied and many very well made while Hollywood stuff is mostly flashy garbage with very few hidden and underappreciated gems here and there. Asian games have been always more about substance and gameplay than about its looks (that's why From Software didn't think appropiate to release Demon's Souls in the west at first since the game could be considered too difficult, and therefore unappealing, to western audiences I imagine). So far we have seen some pretty cool western games and some garbage but I hope they keep up with it and don't go the Michael Bay way in gaming.
