Capcom hearts Wii: Zack and Wiki sells 300k and RE:UC sells 950k.

Regarding Home Video Games segment, "Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles" (for Wii), which is the latest title of the series, achieved robust sales particularly in the US and Europe. The popularity of this title helped to make a favorable start in year-end sales.

Additionally, "Monster Hunter Freedom 2", which was released in February 2007, joined the lineup of Capcom's long-selling products achieving sales of over 1.5 million copies in Japan. "Monster Hunter Freedom 2" is the first title to achieve these record sales among those developed for PlayStation Portable.

In this business segment, "Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles" (for Wii), one of our flagship titles, made a strong showing. "Zack&Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure" (for Wii) and "Sengoku Basara 2 Heroes" (for Wii, PlayStation 2) also grew steadily.

"WE LOVE GOLF!" (for Wii) and "Mega Man Star Force 2" (for Nintendo DS) saw sluggish growth.

capcom have sold more wii games than 360 games this gen. and considering the budget of the three wii titles compared to lost planet and dead rising, they've made A LOT more money on nintendo's console too.

That's great news. Zack and Wiki did much better than I thought especially since it had no advertising. And didn't I read a while back that if RE4 Wii Edition and Resident Evil: UC sold well, that Capcom might think of Remaking Resident Evil 2 and 3 for the Wii using RE4's engine? I think that would be somewhat of an even trade if Capcom doesn't won't to port Resident Evil 5.

I guess IGN's Buy Z&W campaign was more successful than I thought.

Z&W would sold half a million already if there was actually a freakin' ad in North America.

I think you're right that zack and wiki would have sold 500k if it weren't for the problems, and maybe even more. Still, 300k makes the game a total success considering that it was thrown together for no money and the whole game from the idea stage to the release took about 7 months to do. Seriously, the cost of this game must be comparable to shovelware

I didn't know it took only 7 months in development. I hope for a more big budget sequel of the game. Imagine how great would that be.

capcom have sold more wii games than 360 games this gen. and considering the budget of the three wii titles compared to lost planet and dead rising, they've made A LOT more money on nintendo's console too.

Capcom has three titles out for the Wii totaling 2.75 million copies sold.

RE:4 - 1.5 million

To be fair, a lot of Americans on the forums jumped the gun a bit about Z& W's "poor sales", forgetting that the European version came later. Im guessing that may have boosted Z & W's sales a bit, given that continental Europe loves adventure games, generally speaking.Quofan

Capcom also likes to undersell it's games. When the initial 26 K sold was announced it's possible that stores only had about that much to sell.

Also, good reviews and word of mouth make sales grow slowly

Resident Evil is a million times more well known than Zack and Wiki, plus it was one of the few games to have Zapper compatibility. If Z&W sold more than RE:UC something would have been seriously whacked.

Awesome. Those Zack & Wiki sales make sense since IGN was reporting that there were rumors of a sequel in the works. I remember thinking this game must be selling better than people are saying if they really are making a sequel.

On another note, why do Resident Evil games sell so well on the Wii? (or even Nintendo platforms in general because RE4 sold better on the GC than it did on the PS2 which has a much larger installed base).
