Capcom: We Expect RE5 To Sell 2.3Million

isit me or is that expectation a little low? havent resi games sold very well in the past? i mean this is one of the most anticpated games this gen im sure it will sell way more than that!!

maybe they are worried it will not sell due to the 'racial controversey'?

I think it'll sell extremely well especially given that it launches on two platforms and is the sequel to arguably the best game last gen. I predict 3-4 million when it's all said and done.

The racial controversy is just talk, as a black man I am in no way offended. It's in that region of the world to represent the "origin of life" or Eden, not just a black habitat.

It will sell that many copies for sure, not sure if i'll contribute to that goal though.ONLYDOD

I love Resident Evil, but yeah I prefer the older ones, I didn't think 4 was a bad game exactly, I just didn't find it enjoyable enough to want to finish it. It might be different with this one, who knows? I'll wait and see closer to the time.

I expect close to 4 million when all is said and done, if RE5 was exclusive to a console it would be more of a system seller then Gears 2.

No, they know their game will sell well more then that, all of their other games have, and they havnt gotten nearly as much attention as this one. They are low balling the prediction so when the sales exceed their "expectations" they can send out a memo to the media saying, "RE5 sales exceed Capcom's expectations, reaches 3-4 million"

Should easily do that. But companies like to set their expectations just somewhat above the profit marker so it would seem like they're doing surprisingly well and to pre-damage control in a case of floppage. Not sure how much RE4 sold but I think they expect a lot more from RE5.mr_mozilla

I think this means that the budget for RE5 is such that sales of 2.3M (the .3 makes it an oddball number) will be seen as a good return on investment for shareholders. Unless RE5 is released during a super jam packed month, I can see it breaking one million in a month if it launches during the first week of that month.

It will probably sell about 2.5 to 3 mil worldwide

PS3 the advantage, but not by alot. Thats only because of Japan also.

Compared to how next gen games sell nowadays. No I don't think so. I think games that sell over a mil are concidered successes at least.

Even though I hate where the RE francise went with its game. I mean hearing about the new gameplay aspect might be like gears makes me wanna vomit. Putting that aside I still like the universe and the characters and im willing to put down the money for it. I mean RE4 was still a fun action game and I have my survival horror needs taken care off by Dead space,siren and SH.

I think they set the bare this low so they wont sound to cocky. It also sounds good to say "Yea we surpassed our sales prediction."

Old time RE fans are leaving the franchise.

RE4 was awesome, only beat it once but now I can't wait till this comes out, gonna rent though.
