"If you're not Nintendo, it does seem harder to make money on the Wii today compared to the PS3 and the Xbox 360. It's a very tough market to crack and is ever-shifting. Now, I don't even know what the market is. Third-party publishers are having a hard time determining who the Wii audience is. You can no longer say it is solely casual gamers or that only E-rated games own the space. For any sort of solid statement you want to make about the platform or the audience, there are enough opposite proofs to show that it is extremely scattered and chaotic." - Chris Kramer, Capcom senior director of communications and community

*sigh* Really? How many more of these comments from Capcom are we going to get? But I will say that if Capcom is going to complain even more on the Wii, they might as well leave.

Thoughts?

I also think Capcom said that they overreacted with those statements.

*edit*My mistake...An article stated that they overreacted.

Capcom's real games are all on 360, PS3 and PC anyway. They hardly care about Wii.

The Wii audience is full of little kids, people who bought it to find it sucks, and people who like to pretend it's a good console saying stuff like "no, Mushroom Men is actually a good game".

True. Capcom can make some RPG's for the Wii, but all the hardcore action titles should stay on the XBox 360 and PS3 at this point. I can't see anyone trying to play SF IV on the Wii. Not with those controllers anyways.

Monster Hunter 3: Marketed well and not half-assed effort - sold almost 1 million in Japan

Other Capcom games on Wii: Not marketed at all or in genres that were never popular to begin with - tanked in sales.

Figure out which way works Capcom. It's not that hard.

Capcom are better off focusing on the 360, PS3, and PC.

The Wii audience is definately varied. Though it's got some great games.

Maybe Capcom would figure it out if they stopped treating the Wii like a step child. There is no excuse for that Dead Rising port and the constant whoring of the Resident Evil franchise.

well, thats just capcoms fault. they're marketing monster hunter tri and tatsVS capcom well, and those are selling well

the rest aren't marketed enough. stop whining, capcom,. your games are great, but they're just not marketed well. your fault, not nintendo's.

Capcom was not whining when they properly marketed and developed Monster Hunter 3. They know first hand what it takes to have success on the console, yet they can't take what they learned from MH3 and apply it elsewhere.

Well, to me that is quite obvious. I don't see how a company can look at the great sales of the Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition and the lame sales of the latest rail shooter of the series and still not know what the Wii audience wants.

Resident Evil 4 sold 1 million copies on the Wii. Clearly, developers should make good games that people want (not goddamn on-rail shooters) and should advertise them well.

What about No More Heroes? MadWorld? Zach and Wiki?

Zack and Wiki mainly suffered from poor marketing. The game also had a major identity crisis since its presentation, title and boxart didn't really attract many gamers even if its content was challenging and compelling. It also belonged to a genre that is unfortunately pretty much extinct nowadays, which is point-and-click adventures.

MadWorld also suffered from marketing issues and the fact that the game was cell-shaded, black and white and extremely violent didn't help sales either.

As for No More Heroes, it sold enough to warrant a sequel so I don't think it did that bad.

If a company isn't willing to put in the cash to market a game, they have no right to complain about the sales.
