Ok I just beet the game yesterday and all I can say is...What the Hell!I was very disappointed that you didn't fight Dracula or the Grim Reaper at all, but Satan instead. Then the end after the credits you are Dracula! WTF! There is such a gap in the story I'm just speechless. The game was great to me, but that final boss and the ending was just literally garbage. What do you guys think? Did you understand howGabriel became Dracula?

haven't played the game, but it sounds like it epically failed if the ending had that huge of a plot hole without any explanation at all

Since you have not played the game, but i have seen you in the castlevaina threads, making comments like this, I assume that you just want to hate on the game just to hate.

Haven't played yet, planning to buy it later, but, to be fair, this ending was kind of obvious.

I don't mind Gabriel becoming Dracula. There was a huge hint in the game that tells you this (Read his bio, he's not an actual Belmont and shares the last name with a certain Lament of Innocence character). I thought adding in Satan was stupid, and after the credits they continued with that where Zobek is like "Satan is coming back, we must defeat him" which I found lame. It was going so well until the final acts... and the modern day ending didn't help.

I thought it was brilliant. It is a reboot and is not supposed to tie into the old games in any way, so it was OK for them to do this. Cannot wait to see where it goes from here.

i WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree.

how the **** are they going to make Gabriel Belmont the new Dracula? that's the equivalent of me opting to make Link from Legend of Zelda the new antagonist and in turn i'm forced to play as Ganondorf for the rest of the series.

Because this is a reboot and Gabriel Belmont has no affiliation with the original Belmonts. This was stated time and again throughout the entire development cycle of the game.

ironcreed

then the Vampire Killer shouldn't be there.

really, what is seemed like Kojima did was handpick elements of the ****ing original Castlevania games and then put them in this new series, except without any logical explanation or needed purpose.

...except for the things he did create, like the Titans.

Well, it is still branded as Castlevania, despite the fact that it is a reboot. Of course it is going to have some elements from the series. Some folks are simply resistant to change, and will not tolerate the series going in a new direction. I respect the purists, but I wholeheartedly disagree. I think the series deserves better than to remain stagnant.

Lords of Shadow was an evolution for me and it feels modern, fresh and relevant again. That is just me of course. I realize some want the same old, same old over and over again. Personally, I think the series was stale as can be and Lords of Shadow was the right move. To each their own.

I liked the game all the way through except for the end, but for different reasons, I could not kill the last boss (the last rings where satan was almost dead and you had to use light and shadow magic was the part that got me). I was going to keep the game but I am so pissed off with the end I am going to trade it in (it will help towards Black Ops).

I assumed the ending after the credits as that IS the story behind dracula. Him doing whatever it takes in order to try to bring back his true love. Gaining this uncontrollable dark power and thus becoming the true dracula. Instead of tying in with the timelines in the rest of the games, it creates a new timeline of its own. It makes me LOL @ the fans who didn't already assume this would be the ending due to that's what castlevania is about. You actually get to play dracula coming to power which is quite brilliant/incredible if you ask me and definitely a pretty fresh step in the franchise.

it's actually way more castlevania than I expected. from the different monsters (such as floating head mobs), to the music - updated music from games such as simon's quest and super castlevania 4, from the vampire killer whip, and even fighting in gigantic castles multiple times (more similar to order of ecclesia - but still awesome none-the-less). It's unfortunate that you feel that way as I think you're really missing out. this is coming from a long time castlevania fan.

I'm a Castlevania fan and TBH, I'm sick of Dracula already... how mencing is a guy who takes 100 years to wake up only to get his ass kicked on the very same night??? And not just once ortwice, but many many times.

I was glad that they gave him a break (somehow). Also, now the sequel is bound to give us Dracula as the main character and out of my favourite Castlevanias there's SotN (Not Dracula but his son, almost the same stuff :P) and AoS/DoS. Having Dracula as a main character has potential to kick serious ass.

As for Death, yeah I was kinda dissapointed, but Zobek was the Lord of the Necormancers, almost the same stuff and a bit more realistical because seriously "killing" Death??

Im aware of that and while the absence of Dracula is a big disappointment its only 1 of the reasons Idont think LoS deserves the Castlevania name. A big one though.

And didnt know death was in. Not as dissapointed now.

It's not Death... there are Necromancers, and one of the Shadow Lords is the Necromancer Lord. We don't fight Death per se as in other Castlevanias.

I expected Lucifer to be tougher, the fight is not difficult at all. I was disappointed they chose thisending, destroying the devil is like destroying evil itself, how can you top that? One thing that was never made clear is if Lucifer and Satan are the same within the game's story, it would be cool if they were different entities. Anyways, the twist at the end when you discover that you are Dracula is pretty cool, but how will they incorporate the whip and rudimentary weapons in a modern environment? I'm intrigued.

Hahaha what about killing Satan? It's like killing God , I mean he just settled the war between good and evil right there, it was ridiculous the inclusion of him there , it didn't make any sense.

Also on thread , I'm speechless I know Zobek called Dracula as Gabriel many times but I thought ' hey they share the same name ' and that's about it , I'm truly speechless , Gabriel turning into Dracula....

Wow I'm glad I'm not alone , like I said in my other post killing Satan is like killing God.And yes Lucifer is Satan , being christian or not , in other words, beliving on him or just thinking he is part of mithology you can't change who he is.It's like saying Zeus is the lord of the Oceans , doesn't make sense , that was a very poor addition , at least the final CGI says he's still alive which is obvious as he can't die , but still , having him as an enemy is bound to some failure...

I'll play devil's advocate, (wokka wokka)... But Satan was cast out of heaven and doesn't usually take human form. Destroying his human form isn't destroying him altogether. Also, the only way that was possible is by the power of god, which gabriel was granted (in the bible, the angel gabriel cast lucifer out of heaven).

Wow didn't think of any of that , very well said , well if that's what they meant the only way to blow it is by killing satan for good , since he's been introduced already , I hope they find a better way to get rid of him other than simply killing.

The only thing I was disappointed in was not being able to fight zobeck but that's another story. I'm glad they did their own thing this time and it worked out really well. I think Gabriel became dracula as a result of his pure form ascending and leaving behind his darkness the same way the original lords of shadow were created since he did the same ritual.

That can't be Gabriel, could it? Doesn't he ascend? (That beam shoots out of his mouth when he has Satan in a headlock) If so, Dracula is the name of his shadow lord form that's left behind. Zobek possibly confirms this when he says "Look at you, a SHADOW of your former self" to which Gabriel replies "Shadow?"

And maybe that little vampire girl, Laura, had soemthing to do with Gabriel becoming a vampire?

I haven't played it yet but I knew the ending. Going through all the other castlevania games since it was a series I have been somewhat neglecting, about half-way through entire thing now, I don't really mind that its not the same time line. The problem would be that if there was no dracula origin story and THIS was it, it would feel horrible to play all the other games, since now the belmonts would not be heroes who save the land from dracula, but a cursed family line who's entire purpose is to right their own wrong.
