FROM SOFTWARE + 1. Demons, Dark 1-3, Bloodborne, Sekiro Shadows Die Twice each and every masterpeice (Gameplay) compared to The Witcher 1-2. CDPR only epic awesomeness is The Witcher 3 (Lore,Story).
Well?

Well?
Witcher devs have worked on many games. Good luck comparing them with Clunky Souls dev.
CD Projek Red game's are even clunkier though. Witcher's gameplay is horrible. Witcher 2 is very bad. Witcher 3 is passable.
As for the question depends what you prefer. I am personally more partial to From's games but a lot of things in their games such as the terrible physics, terrains and collision detection.
@carljohnsoncj: I was going to say CDProjekt Red simply because I think the story in all three of the Witcher game is fantastic. Sure the first two were a little rough around the edges but I still loved them.
BUT I feel like The Witcher's story and characters are only as good as they are because they are from on an actual literature writer (Andrzej Sapkowski). I think if it wasn't for the fact that the team who make Witcher had a treasure trove of tight, brilliant fiction to work from the games might not have come out as well as they did. I guess Cyberpunk will tell us if they are any good at writing.
From Software games for me have always been about the gameplay and not the story. I get it, the story is cryptic and it is supposed to be hidden and obscure but I don't like it. Good writing is more than just narrative. Being able to communicate that story in an easy to digest and legible way is important. Making me run rings just to get the story is how you lose my interest.
Parts of Dark Souls were lost on me completely simply because I missed the item the lore was attached to. Or that item wasn't in my inventory for long enough for me to digest its item information. Which is pointless and in my view bad writing. It could be the best tale or story ever told but if it gets lost in transit then it isn't worth jack and a lot of Dark Souls is lost in transit by the way its story is delivered. The only way to get everything is to pour endlessly over every item in the game and piece it together. I play games to PLAY THE GAME. Not reassemble the story piecemeal.
So really for me I like them both but for different reasons. I like Witcher and CDProjekt Red based on the quality of the story and I like From Software because of their gameplay. Which means it is apples and oranges for me and they are pretty much incomparable.
Witcher series is overrated. original witcher suck, 2 is best one but still have mediocre combat, 3 suffer from mediocre gameplay over all.
only CDPR game that looks promising is Cyberpunk 2077 and its only because its first person.
I’ve only ever played The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3 + dlc. I found The Witcher 2 to be a good game and the third one was much better and an excellent game.
I’ve played a number of From Software games over the years such as the King’s Field games which I found to be very cool and interesting games to a couple of Armored Core games which I thought were pretty good to the Souls games which I found to be excellent.
I would go with From Software myself.
I think both companies are good at what it is they specialize in. From Software has the benefit of having worked on many more games, and many different kinds of games.
I'd go CD Projekt Red for the great worldbuilding and the way they respsect the gamer. The Witcher 3 is worth every penny no matter what you paid for it. And the DLC's were actual expansions, not just a few new maps on Call of Duty. They also confirmed there will be no microtransactions in Cyberpunk 2077 too. Also stole the show at E3. It's not the most anticipated game right now for nothing, y'kno
Is it that bad? lol
Its mediocre for most of you play through and at times just bad. I quit the game after sailing on the sea and a harpy (can't remember what creature but it can fly) flew by and Geralt switch to combat stance in the middle of the ocean and there was nothing I can do besides wait and try my best to dodge out off the boat to get back regular control.
From Software makes better games.
CDPR writes better stories.
I'd argue the story and lore of Bloodborne wipes the floor with TW3. But on to topic, From makes better games. CDPR has trouble with their combat. Hopefully that is changing with CyberPunk 2077.
I think it's personal preference. My only FS game is Bloodborne, so I'm not speaking from a lot of experience, but I didn't love that game enough to seek out any of the DS games. It's me, not them. I prefer a more narrative-driven experience and CD Projekt Red delivers that in spades. So, for me personally, CD Projekt Red. I wouldn't fault anyone who prefers From Software, though.
@carljohnsoncj: OP, you should've made this a poll. I'd love to see the results so far as percentages
From Software at least knows how to design good combat and movement controls, so they win this battle easily.
I honestly don't consider CD Projekt Red to be a good developer when it comes to gameplay. Some people can seem to overlook their crappy gameplay because they love other things that they do well, but gameplay is by far the most important thing to me and I can't overlook the fact that CD Projekt Red sucks at gameplay.
I own 2 games from CD but have yet to play them.
I own nothing nor played anything From has made.
So I guess neither.
Witcher 3 is the worst of the W games. The previous games had integrity and uniqueness to them, W3 is just bland, and very typical wrpg with nothing going for it. Dull story too.
Sure, W3 is pretty as a button, but as I keep telling you kids, pretty looks do not equal a good game.
So, while I'm not big Souls fan, I'd rather play them than touch W3 ever again.
Bloodborne, Sekiro & Demon Souls (and DS) all were mechanically great. From does have some mechanics thats is pretty weird like Demon Souls world tendency which is kind of crap and does nothing but anyhow, shoutout to Bloodborne & Sekiro for somehow able to innovate on souls formula. CDPR gameplay is hit or miss but serviceable for 50-100 hour game.
I personally think Bloodborne has the best lore this gen by miles but the world that CDPR expanded for Witcher series which was based from the novel was so interesting and complete that you almost believe this world may exist. amazing
Overall - From Soft
Where is Bloodborne part 2 Sony?
From games have better mechanics.
however, the Witcher games do some things better than pretty much any other game series - making me feel attached to the world, story and characters while having some agency over how things play out and getting really invested in everything. I don't mind the gameplay and movement in the series either, especially TW3.
so i'd say CD Projekt if i had to choose. especially since From have put out a couple games I didn't enjoy that much (Dark Souls II and Sekiro)
Well I am personally not a fan of the Souls-like gameplay--something about the repitition, being terrible at it, and the unreasonable difficulty-- but you can't really argue about the fact that they have it really dialed in. The Souls games also do have a pretty great atmosphere and all that.
But outside of gameplay, I don't see the appeal. The Witcher series (yes, all of them) seem to have everything dialed in and The Witcher 3 is arguably one of the great open-world RPG's ever. That is a claim From Software can't really make.
So I have to choose CD Projekt Red. Sorry but, ironically, there is more to a game than just gameplay.
