Putting aside any arguements towards Xbox, I've been waiting for HD-DVD to die out so that Blu-rays will be cheaper, as well as it's players (though besides the fact that I own a PS3 already, my father has been waiting before he went "full HD"). Though I'm wonderingwhat Microsoft will do about this and or when HD-DVD does finally take a dive. Either it'll just entirely stick to DVD9s for this console generation and then upgrade to Blu-ray next generation or what?

That was weird Warner doesn't usually pick sides. To be honest the picture quality looks the exact same to me.

No. Now I can continue to get cheaper DVD movies and watch them upscaled to 1080p on my 360 for the next 2 years. If Blu-Ray finally becomes a standard and starts competing with DVD, then maybe I'll switch over. Right now Blu-Ray movies are still too expensive and until the price drops down to DVD's level, I won't be wasting my money on any Blu-Ray movies.

That was weird Warner doesn't usually pick sides. To be honest the picture quality looks the exact same to me.

They got paid $500 million by BDA which includes Sony. I'm curious as to how many billions Sony lost for their 4th quarter. $500 million to Warner Bros. PS3 price drop worldwide twice in less then 2 months. Large sum of money spent to run PSN every month.

If you have an upscaling DVD player or an XBox 360 with the upscaling software the DVD movies don't look a huge difference from Blu-Ray. I'm sticking with DVD's for the next 2 years at least.

Good, now that both formats are dead we can go back to watching regular DVDs (HD is overrated, I have an HDTV so don't call me bias).

Microsoft made an official announcement right after the rumor was posted. They said there was no Ultimate XBox 360 with an internal HD-DVD in it being announced. So the rumor was completely false.

Philips 42" plasma (don't know the exact model number by heart), I don't have any player but I have looked at store demos, and they weren't mindblowing like everyone says, even on some pretty great TVs.

I don't care who wins, just let someone win so I don't have to buy 2 really expensive devices just to get recent movies. I don't plan to buy either format anytime soon, but when I do, I don't want movies split down the middle as to who gets what.
