Do you think Fallout 4 can be more enjoyable rpg than The Witcher 3 and Bloodborne?

Bethseda rpg games always seems to be winning GOTY's and critical appraise from critiques all the time inspite unplayable bugs, enemy scaling, shoddy combat, unoptimisation unless patched ( Morrowind, Oblivion,Skyrim,Fallout 3 ). However i highly doubt if Fallout 4 can beat The Witcher 3, Bloodborne this year in terms of site ratings, being better and favourite rpg amongst gamers :)

nah. Fallout games have great exploration and immersion, but that's it. They're not known for the tight gameplay mechanics, which a game should be about first and foremost. Bloodborne has it under its bag mechanic-wise already. Everything else, I'll wait and see

@mems_1224: Indeed. I've been playing The Witcher 3 and already wanting Fallout 4 as I was playing TW3. Which says a lot about CDPR's game.

It's possible. every Bethesda games have been improving steadily since Oblivion. If it can offer the depth of its older titles, i.e. Morrowind, while retaining a modern perspective, the game they can make will be quite something.

I'd almost guarantee that Gamespot will pick the game from the publisher who paid them the most in advertising this year for over all GOTY. Unless there's some hipster nongame, game that's popular among the social activists.

If we go back to 2008, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Fallout 3 had just come out with grand theft auto 4 even. Metal Gear ended up taking the goty title, so maybe we'll see another repeat?

Fallout 4 may very likely get GOTY here at GS. That said i doubt it will be the game i enjoy most this year. I had Fallout 3( only Fallout game i ever tried) for Ps3 last gen and got bored few hours in and "never touched it again"/"completed it".

I think it can in sales, and if they do modding good on it, it could even sale like hotcakes. As for getting reviewed as high by critics, i dont think so, but it might.

It's a Bethesda game that is already technologically outdated even before release and would need to score a 10/10 to even compete with The Witcher 3.

That said, none of the old staff is left, and the new crew have some really whacked out tastes. So anything is possible.

considering that BB and TW3 aren't very good games, I'd say no fucking chance because Fallout 4 is going to be a terrible game.

I can't see it being better than Bloodborne. Then again, the souls games are the only RPGs I've been able to get into within the last decade.

Popularity wise Fallout 4 but in actuality The Witcher 3 is game of the decade material... I personally found fallout 3 to be one of the most boring games ever and Skyrim was not any better. It doesn't help since Witcher 3 has made all the rpg games so insignificant...

Zero, Bethesda Softworks has never made a genuinely great game other than Morrowind and arguably Dishonored.

Their recent trend has become making huge open world hiking simulators with gimped RPG mechanics that appeal to the masses.

The mainstream review sites such as Gamespot will most likely praise it like it's the best thing ever. The game itself will probably be absolute shit though just like every other Bethesda game.

It might be like 2011, when Skyrim, Witcher 2 and Dark Souls released. Skyrim won the most GOTY awards that year, more than both Dark Souls and Witcher 2 combined. But over the years, it was Dark Souls which ended up winning "Game of the Generation" and "Game of the Century" awards.

Fallout 4 is already facing criticism of looking last gen and hardly visually upgraded. Though, I saw a GameStop video someone posted in their OP that showed VATS has been upgraded to instead of pausing action now slows it down and the game is a lot more mechanically focused on being a shooter. Given they've the whole user outpost that can be upgraded to perform defensive tasks and be upgraded over time, leaves me to believe this game will have a lot of auto content. Now while I criticized Bethesda for cheapening Skyrim with auto-generated content, I'm hoping they hit a stride with the idea of auto-content and are able to make a more substantive experience somehow. I kind of wonder if they do, how would one go about it. A game like Destiny or Borderlands, and the tendency of gamers to want to go back and grind for loot, and an experience that always has something to go for, I've a strong feeling that's what Fallout 4 will try going for something along those lines, though we'll see if they're successful in their efforts or not. I personally have nothing against making something more shooter-centric, however the shooters genre is largely (from a critical standpoint) always seen as something more base and casualized than a more acquired taste like a strategy RPG. What happens to Fallout 4 after Fallout 4 releases will be left to the whims of the mob.

Has a good chance to be better than Bloodborne imo. Witcher 3 though? The writing of dialogue, story and characters will have to be alot better than what Bethesda did in Skyrim and Fallout 3 for writing if it wants to be on W3's level imo. Which had a wonderful mix of great writing and open world stuff.

Lol at people saying Fallout 4 can beat BloodBorne. Its impossible for a modern RPG to beat BloodBorne in terms of combat mechanics unless its another game made by From Software.

how can a game like the witcher 3 compete with a bethesda game where you can sneak and crouch. Knowing bethesda the AI of the witcher 3 will be laughable compared to fallout 4. Same with bloodborne, the game isn't centered centered hundreds of npc with their own lives.

However, the witcher 3 will have better graphics and so wil have bloodborne.

The gameplay remains to be seen, gameplay has always been good enough in a bethesda game. What make bethesda games to me the best games (yes i'm a fan) are content, story and atmosphere. Bethesda games have the power of drawing you in making you a part of their world. I haven't seen any other game do that.

As for bloodborne well Dark souls certainly could compete with skyrim in terms of review scores but that was 2011. We're now 2015 and while bloodborne has a lot better graphics than dark souls. I don't think it will be enough to compete with fallout 4. The atmosphere in fallout 4 could very well be one that the lot of us will reside in for end 2015 and the better part of 2016.

Even in a wide open bethesda game like Skyrim when you break it down gameplay consists of 90% combat, poor combat at that.

It really depends on what you're looking for in a game. For RPGs, I'm more concerned about ability and stat building, alternative methods of completing tasks, story and adventure instead of raw, toe to toe, twitch combat. I expect that kind of gameplay in a hack n slash type because that's all those games really offer.

I remember last gen so many people complaining about Fallout 3/NV gunplay, but most of them had expectations of a FPS, so they needed to be told the difference between those different types of games. When they understood that Fallout's gunplay was based off of stats and perks instead of a set of honed and streamlined skill-based mechanics, it changed their perspective and view of the gameplay.

I can see that, personally I enjoyed new vegas with the FPS mods much more than even the base game, especially fallout 3 as I felt it better complimented the setting. VATS always felt so cheap to me, once you've slow mo blew someones head off, you've kind of seen it all.

I really hope they change up the next elderscrolls, They've got so much money to throw around and they hire these laughably bad writers, games filled with bugs on release and combat that's roughly a bit more advanced than minecraft.
