Not bad. Chaos Rings looks pretty good.

Unrelated but Game Dev Story also looks great.

Wow, just how much of a joke is SlideToPlay? Seriously, you think IGN gives a lot of 9s... Angry Birds does not deserve a high score IMO, but at least I can see why someone would give it one. Which isn't true for many of the other games they review

*Reads Angry Birds review*

9.0 OMG!

...

Winning often requires luck as collisions are near impossible to re-create - Limited strategy as you're only allowed to use explosive chickens in a precise order rather than allowing a free-form solution to evil green pig problem WTF?

...

*Pulls out flamethrower* BBQ!!!

-----

Chaos Rings comparable to Chrono Trigger. That's...quite the compliment. Don't have an iPhone so I can't dismiss this review by self-contradiction.

Oh, you know, this might make things clearer:

Slide to Play's rating scale. 1 - 4, so the constant 9s are just because GS estimates the score equivalent like Metacritic. I take back what I said about them, their scoring system is actually way better than GS'.

But Angry Birds still isn't fun.

Angry Birds is massively overrated :|. There are better games on the App store imo.

I played Angry Birds and was addicted for about 10 mins then I quickly grew tired of it. Chaos Rings on the other hand sounds interesting, but that 5 hours to complete the story bit is kinda meh, and I dont like to replay games.

Chaos Rings was really good. Touching story too, if a bit cliche. Game Dev Story is just beastmode. Automatic 10.

Different standards, not even reviewed by Gamespot which is what matters here. I am sure they are fun games though, and very cheap which is good.

Angry Birds is good for about the first 40 levels. But as soon as you unlock all the bird types they just start becoming tedious to play through. It is a good game, if blatantly ripped off, but doesn't have any real value. I have yet to find a single game on Android that I would want to continue paying more than a few times. Let alone one I would pay money for. 99 cent touch gaming might be a big hit with the casuals, but I am extremely unimpressed. If it weren't for the functionality of non-gaming apps, I would really be regretting my phone choice right now.

I think the GameSpot scores are given by Slide To Play, if they want the review on GameSpot at all. GS only has 43 reviews from 9.5 to 8.0. There's no way in Hell a 1 by STP's standards is equal to an 8.0 by GS'.

GS' review policy is far too different from STP's review policy. GS factors everything at once aside from price (Changes over time, scores would change all the time) whether good or bad while STP is willing to ignore flaws as long as the good outweighs the bad, the game is not buggy, and happens to be decently priced.

Should we give all games a try? Absolutely. People worked hard on [most of] these games and a lot of them are fun. That said, we've got to give respect where respect is due. I wouldn't dare dream of putting a game like Red Steel 2 on the same level as, say, Red Dead Redemption, though the two of them happen to be two of my favourites of this gen. I also can't buy many games unless they're all $1. Seeing as we're in the 'mainstream' gaming industry, that's not going to happen. Got to differentiate.

I'm going to second this. Game Dev Story is definitely worth the price (no idea what it is right now)

I bought it when it was on sale and it was $0.99. It's usually either $1.99 or $2.99 What a freaking steal even at the normal price.....

Chaos rings is surprisingly decent, but only in short bursts. That game can't hold my attention more than 20 minutes at a time.

I guess this confirms that Arcade, iPhone, and other platforms are rated by different expectations.

rofl, this is the proof that different systems have different standards :S Don't get me wrong, I like Chaos Rings, but almost every DS RPG (I played) was way better than it :S
