Geoff Keighly: "...the press has been sort of beating up on the PS3, and developers--you know, Gabe Newell from Valve was calling it a disaster, they should have started again. I mean, is any of that fair?"not this year but late next year yeah.
Cliffy B: "People love drama, and people love making a scene out of things, but Sony will be fine."
Mark Rein, VP of Epic: [laughing] "I mean, I don't get it. If they have enough units, it's bad. If they don't have enough units, it's bad. I mean, I thought--like they said, by the numbers they had a great launch, it's a good machine, and we're certainly going to take advantage of it. So, Sony will be doing fine."

Being arrogant makes it really easy for people to hate you.
Thus the drama Cliffy B. was talking about. There's a thin line between confidence and arrogance. Sony crossed it many times before their launch, while at the same time making many missteps while their competition made little. Disappointment sets in and the bashing starts...
See Sony disappointment timeline for details..
I agree with Cliffy B. They will be just fine. They've got some good stuff coming and a price drop is inevitable. Their fortunes will probably improve then..Will they beat MS or Nintendo this gen? That's a good question and for the first time in years no one has a definitive answer. I can live with that.
wow....way to delude yourself......"People love drama" "Sony will be fine"......drama is one thing....former supporter ripping your console a new one is completely another.......if sony keeps sticking it's head in the sand and they will be done a lot faster than they think.... Omni-SlashI think Cliffy B. was trying to be diplomatic..He was already pretty well known and outspoken before GEOW, Gears made him REALLY high profile, he probably didn't want to say anything that would come back to haunt him later....Which is probably a smart move if your company makes games for the PS3 as well as the 360...

Having 200,000 (US)Â launch units out of the promised 1 million is a great launch? Having only 1 game to play for months end... Is a great launch?
Umm... No.
Just about all the PS3's that were purchase ended up on Ebay. Not even a month later we see PS3 units collecting dust and Ebay prices taking a nose dive.

It shows that not eveyone has to be blind and ignorant just because they are mainly only supporting one of the leading systems out.. must come from the time he's spent with kojima. How could he not say optomistic things about the PS3 with as skilled and as free thinking as Kojima showing an intrest in the success in software on both platforms.

of course game developer say this. unless a developer works for one of the big three's first party developers they don't really care which system is better, at the heart they're all gamers and they love the systems. Kojima likes the 360 Cliffy likes the PS3, only fanboys stay loyal to one system.FlawlessSeasons

LMAO!
not having enough units is bad because if they can't keep the demand with low supply, but it turns out they had low supply AND low demand, how's that NOT bad? :?nintendo-4life"Low demand" is largely a myth perpetuated by forum posters who keep posting pictures of PS3's sitting in stores. Truth is, Sony has sold well in the two territories it's launched in so far. Of course, it has not sold as well as the Wii, but it's done well on its right for not having launched globally. As one Japanese analyst said in a previous gamespot news story, Sony has sold 85% of their product so far, and that's a success by any definition.

If the Xbox 360 had the same number of units as Sony had after its launch they would have blown away the ps3 numbers. There was a real demand for the system, same cant be said about the PS3.vistamanV5Now back that statement up with real numbers, instead of making comparisons based on intuition.

Wow first time to see that moderator is "anti "some console"!
We all know that the price tag is Sony's biggest challenge, the rest is just fanboyish drama and casuals don't care.
And this come from the creators of GEOW TLHBO.
