Cliffy.B: No plans for any Gears on PS3 any time soon

Cliffy.B, the design director of the Gears of War franchise has killed all the rumors that have been popping on the internet about the possibility of a Gears of War game on Sony's console, the PS3.

Speaking on Kotaku radio, when someone had mentioned that Microsoft doesn't hold the exclusivity of the franchise and asked him about the possibility of the next installment in the series to appear on the PS3 as a multiplatform title, the creative force behind the Gears of War franchise answered:

"Honestly there's really no plans for any Gears on PS3 any time soon, which I can confirm"

After that, Kotaku asked him a question about two of the most mentioned rumors in the industry: What will happen first, GOW on PS3 or MSG4 on Xbox 360:

"Hmm…..I would wager that…I know Microsoft is a huge fan of Kojima……I actually have no knowledge on any of this, but my guts as a gamers told me that you would see a Metal Gear Solid game on Xbox 360 before you see a Gears of War game on the PS3″

I don't know if he actually knows about Metal Gear Solid: Rising or not. Because it's a Metal Gear Solid game and it's multiplatform. Maybe he means MGS4? Anyway, you have heard him, no Gears on PS3 anytime soon.

Who on earth asked or even rumored Gears to be on the PS3. -_- I reckon cliff is just making this up. I honestly don't care for Gears anymore. It's gotten stale like Halo.

I've said this before, but I think Gears will be going nuts next gen on all kinds of platforms. GeoW is EPIC's baby now.

In the meantime, I'm sure NDA's prevent him from talking or saying anything about Multiplats. Xbox treated him well, he's not going to run off and spray GeoW on everything just yet.
That being said, looking at Unreal, and the industry, EPIC is going to treat this as their hot property at somepoint.

In the meantime, they are making millions on the Xbox Brand alone, so no need to worry.

Again, I say watch GeoW next generation.

honestly who cares about geow being on ps3? geow isnt that great at all.

It's Cliff Bleszinski. He helps design great games, but he has said many times he hates the PS3, mainly because of the DualShock 3.

This is what I am wondering. I have never heard such a rumor.

rumors float around all the time. i have high doubts any big name exclusives will be leaving the 360.

Usually big name exclusives don't go any were. Because of all the money one company has and the fan base they have on that console. you would be stupid to jump boat. I wouldn't mind see Rachet and Clank come to the 360

That's true. If Tim Sweeney and Mark Rein tell him to make it multiplatform, he will have to do it or quit.

Sony already has a superior third person shooter franchise, no need for a subpar, lagfest game.

No one has been talking about Gear on Ps3 at all. Cliffy just trying to get his name out there, remind people he's still alive.

Considering Gears of War and Gears of War 2 outsold Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Uncharted, Uncharted 2, and Infamous combined, it looks more like the Xbox 360 doesn't need PS3 exclusives.

considering Geow2 hasnt even been released on PC, I dont understand why people would believe rumours of a possible PS3 version..

As regards Geow3, thats a different story but there might be some sort of deal between MS/EPIC to keep it away form the PS3 :)

Its a pity cause Geow games are great and my fav series along Forza on 360... if this series was available on PS3 many other gamers would have enjoyed these games.. lets hope Geow3 is announced/released as a multiplatform title (maybe late 2010) :)
