word.  but that doesn't mean the movie won't suck.  the history of game-to-movie movies is a long and ugly one.  rare is the game that successfully jumps to the big screen.

Spilter Cell could have 1000000000000x the graphics of MGS4 but I'd still by MGS4 over SC any day. Far better gameplay and story IMO.

I find it REALLY funny that when i  say Kameo is better than any PS3 game, there is not even one sony fanboy that can say ANYTHING about it, since they would try to counter the obvious, it is understandable, but at least you could give it a try

 

You could for example say "no MGS4 has better textures" but see, that would 1000% false, and you would look like a fool, that is why i have not seen A SINGLE FANBOY POST stating WHY actually thinks Kameo is not better than Lair, MGS3, FF13 etc, obviously because it IS better and by far

seriously the game doesnt have the greatest draw distance in the world. when you compare it to lair i always see you say the draw distance is better but it isnt, and why should it be it is a launch game ? when there are a lot of enemies on screen the AI is stupid at bestm and the gameplay isnt the best either.

the game shines in textures but almost everything else it sucks in, its not like realistic textures anyways its a damn cartoon almost dude. you are comparing different art styles, i like how you didnt put ratchet & clank in your post cus you know it looks better and on the other thread everyone said it looks better besides you.

You my friend are owned. By a Launch Game Even. Look at that crisp and bright DETAIL. LOL and MGS4 will look better than this bro, so face up. You wanna get better graphics, you gotta pay up.

I'm really looking forward to mgs4, i dont think il play it couse im not thinking of buying a ps3 but maybe a friend of mine will and il go beat it at his house :). I hope that we get a story with plot twists like mgs2 in 4, i didnt really like the simple story of mgs3. And you really cant compare Mass Effect and MGS4 they are totally different games, all i can tell you is that both will be one of the best if not the best games for their genre.

nope 1up confirmed it was gamplay and even said it looked better when they tested it, thanks for confirming how good it looks, nice to hear from a hardcore lemming :)

cell can render graphics though, and kojima is the one who said the camo wouldnt be possible without the processing power of cell.

not exactly the massive environments and on the scale MGS4 will be, but meh. anyways i heard killzone 2 had the biggest dev team ever, does this one beat it ?

 

yes, it's a great pic, great gfx. but it doesn't feel so natural as MGS' pics... i don't know, looks like someone added his head in the body with photoshop.

Japanese generally work really well through team motivation and 'group' cooperation. It could be something to do with the education system. And these characteristics are seen in many other industries, which is also well-documented especially in the automobile industry.

Well, you probably have the group split up into engineering and design, with roughly 1/4 to 1/3 in the first category.  In the engineering group, you've got your leads programmers, your graphics engine programmers, your sound programmers, your tools programmers, your testers, your network programmers, etc.  In the design group, you've probably got around 50% of the total team working on generating art or assets of some sort.  This includes 3D models, textures, normal-maps, and sprites.  Then you'll have people actually designing the levels, people handling gamplay elements, people handling animation/motion-capture, people writing dialogue, people working on music, and of course Kojima himself.  It's a huge project, managing it all is probably hell.

A lot of people don't always mean a good, thing. It means more people you have to keep up to date with, more tasking you have to supply to keep everyone busy, and overall can get pretty confusing. Small teams can work just as good, if not better then large teamsspinecaton

Just curious to know if you actually ever developed a next-gen game yourself?

Looks good, but still not as good as Gears of War.wapahala

remember how Kojima works. Fans of metal gear often focus on the gameplay and epic storyline of the series, but even i forget how incredible the graphics are. Metal gear solid 2 on playstation 2 looks a helluva a lot better than games that came 2 years after it. This isn't some ubisoft port lol

i reckon mgs4 and the final killzone 2 (not the cgi trailer) will be very close easily as good as gears.

Just about every soldier except Raidenovich wouldn't even think about looking at that statue for more than 3 seconds. 3 seconds isn't much time to check the details of that statue and thus, Young Snake is perfectly safe unless someone absolutely hates the statue and blows it up. And plus, he's covering his eyes in shame because of the awkward position.

yes this could be done on the 360 quite easily it doesnt blow me away...yes it looks very good but it doesnt surpass GEoW. 

I am aware your prob thinking now its at early stages it will look alot better....better then the best looking 360 game...doubt it.

So how much are they going to charge for this movie/several hour long conversation with a few interactive bits thrown in here and there? Outsourcing to other companies/teams/whatever you want to call it can be a very expensive exercise and Kojima's team are going to have to make up for the costs somewhere.

umm...no.

not exactly the massive environments and on the scale MGS4 will be, but meh. anyways i heard killzone 2 had the biggest dev team ever, does this one beat it ?

 

yes, it's a great pic, great gfx. but it doesn't feel so natural as MGS' pics... i don't know, looks like someone added his head in the body with photoshop.

with really oily skin, do they have oxy in the future, apparantly not. i hate the way devs use Shiny stuff this gen , then people scream good graphics just cause everything has a polish , but skin doesn

Yeah, that's gotta be tough - do a quick check to see what the texture map is for the item Snake is up against (ground, rock, wall, etc.) and apply that texture to his uniform.  Wow.  That was impressive.  :roll:

I wonder what takes 300 people.  I've always wondered how huge teams divy up the work such that they don't overlap and things fit together well in the end.Dreams-Visions

 That includes mocap actors, voice actors, musicians.

Then each section is given to a team, such as Character Team, Objects Team, Stage Team, then they each get around 20 peoople.

Next gen graphics require more like to make, so if you have more people you can get it done fast.

Seeing as how one person can only do one thing at a time, thats what takes so many.

Well, you probably have the group split up into engineering and design, with roughly 1/4 to 1/3 in the first category. In the engineering group, you've got your leads programmers, your graphics engine programmers, your sound programmers, your tools programmers, your testers, your network programmers, etc. In the design group, you've probably got around 50% of the total team working on generating art or assets of some sort. This includes 3D models, textures, normal-maps, and sprites. Then you'll have people actually designing the levels, people handling gamplay elements, people handling animation/motion-capture, people writing dialogue, people working on music, and of course Kojima himself. It's a huge project, managing it all is probably hell.

wow...that's a lot of money to payrolll...

 

they're gonna have to sell a TON to recoup costs...  with less than 2 million ps3 on the market, i just dont' see it happening...

this is why i think it'll eventually make it to the 360... simply to recoup costs....

looks good tho...

I'm really wondering when gaming became all about graphics.  Yes, nice gfx are nice to have, but isn't gaming supposed to be about gameplay first and foremost??  I can't believe people are saying crap like the 360 can't handle this or the ps3 can't handle that...it's just ignorance and stupid fanboyism.

I agree 110% . The ps3 is going to stay at 2 million sold when MGS4 drops in 2008 so they will have to port it.

Back on topic, wow 300 thats certainly a big number, i bet half of them are working on the port :| But its interesting too see how Hideo plans on filling all the blu-ray space. 

Thie game will be amazing.
