PS3 owners, MGS fans (myself included), people that are interested in the PS3 or MGS, and Kojima.

And have you really played any of the MGS games? If you did, you'd know that the storytelling is one of MGS's strongest points.

MGS3 -- 3.96 million sold (115 million PS2s)

Attach rate -- 1 game sold for every 27 PS2s :lol:

Development team for MGS4 --- 300 people

PS3s sold --- 3.28 million

If less than 4 million MGS3 discs sold for 115 million PS2s, then how do you think MGS4 will sell with only 3.28 million PS3s :lol:

MGS2 is the best selling of the MGS franchise. Over 6 million were sold. That is 1 for every 20 PS2s

Let's say there are 7 million PS3s...7 million / 20 = 350,000 MGS4 discs sold :lol:

But the PS3 has a longer life than that! Ok...let's say PS3 reaches 20 million. 1 million MGS4 discs sold.

MGS is not nearly as popular as cows believe it is...

And with a development team of 300, and a possibility that MGS4 may barely only break the 1 million sold barrier, that is not all that great...

 120million PS2s were not sold by the time MGS2 was released. It was actually around 20-25million when it sold nearly 4 million in the first 6 months in NA, JP, and EU.

Your attach rate is ridiculous. Just because a console sells over 100mil does not mean 50% of those ppl should buy the game in order for it to be "popular". not everyone are into Stealth action games, and MGS is NOT the only good franchise on the PS.

Resistance broke 1mil already despite the low PS3 sales and the genre unpopularity on the console. Its a brand-new IP that did nothing special, yet it sold that much in the first 5months? Interesting?  

 Last, who gives a crap how much the game sells. Okami didnt break 500k. Neither did SotC. Yet both games are considered to be some of the best in history. Not Sony fans words, these are critics and developers words.

Just so you all know, in the history of all MGS games, Kojima splits the consoles power in this way: (ill provide a link if any of you dont believe its true)

33% for gameplay (AI, etc)

33% sound and music

33% for graphics

Now go back and look at MGS2 and 3, and tell me if the 33% of the weak PS2 hardware can produce something that good. imagine the PS3.

Stop judging these screenshots, they are there just so you get the general idea of the game and what Kojima is trying to  do with the camo.

you make it seem as if FFXI wasn't on 360? You make it seem as if MGS2: Substance wasn't on xbox? There is no denying that 360 and ps3 sales have been dropping monthly, but PS3 is still selling faster than 360! :|

I don't know what your point is, but as of now till Kojima says so MGS4 will remain exclusive.

Of course resistance sold because of that. but again, you think it actually sold PS3s? MGS will thats for sure.

you can quote yourself on the "8mil max by mid-2008". with sequels to some of the most popular franchises for the ps2 coming at the end of the year, you can be sure it will break 10mil by christmas. you can quote me on that.

Again, its not up to the developer to choose which platforms to work on CUZ OF SALES, thats the pulisher. and please, a publisher knows alot more than any of us do. Square did not break, they even said last year they were developing for all next gen consoles, so theres "no one winner".

PS3 sells ... faster ? Whre isthat, in US i have numbers showing 200.000 360 and 120.000 if not lower PS3 sold last month

I believe MGS4 will remain timed excluisve for LONG, to the point that it might never come, BUT FF13 is defonatly a sure bet now, and aain if PS3 sells like that in Japan for long, there is no way MGS4 and FF13 remain exclusive

At least MGS4 devs have said that they will make it only on PS3, Square never said that for FF13, for OBVIOUS reasons

 

As for ... 10.000.000 PS3 by christmas ..... with Lair, R&C and Heavely Sword the only games to get until march 2008, i can tell you the PS3 numbers sold easilly

Japan

10.000/week = 40.000/month  for 8 motnhs = 320.000 units in Japan, add 2 months for holiday (let's say it sells double there), we are at 400.000 in Japan

UK, 150.000/month, is that ok ? Let's say 1.5 million more in Europe

And 140.000/month in US, for let's say 10 months to cover holiday again = 1.500.000 IN US

Now it is at 4.000.000 + 3.500.000 = 7.500.000 PS3 MAX by 2007 holiday, and i have inflated liek hell, then sales drop hugly as always, by middle 2008 it might go to 9-10 million inflated always, in fact if any games are delayed will be far lower

On the other hand, not many people bought PS2s for MGS2. Most of the buyers already had a PS2. In comparion, more people bought a PS2 just for Gran Turismo 3 (IIRC, it was bundled at one time).

the story is just small part that shine mgs. its the charactors and gameplay direction that makes mgs so fun to play.

360 could handle the graphics, but not the camo system, and you see that pic with the guys hair missing, yea the devs ran out of room so they couldnt put that last piece of hair there.  :lol:
