Microsoft's Activision Blizzard takeover "will not result in a substantial lessening of competition", says CMAhttps://t.co/rlEYg7eIIn

Seems that they have changed their position
Perhaps if these idiot movie gamers didn't brag about Sony stealing exclusives across the entire internet this wouldn't have happened.
No joke you had literally 3-4 of the same Mad Cows crying about this deal and straight up spamming smiley faces "Hahaha you can't play FF15!" in another thread 2 minutes later. 🤦♂️
Talk about lacking self awareness.
Microsoft did a good good convincing the CMA that PlayStation has been absolutely crushing them for over two decades and, owning ABK won't change that. :)
It's going to get to the point where there is only 3 or 4 companies controlling everything in the Gaming Industry. Tencent, MS, Sony, and maybe someone else.
That's how the food/beverage industry is in the US.......other industries as well
Yup and there's nothing we can do to stop it, the wheels are already in motion.
I had no doubt (and still don't) that this deal wouldn't go through. It will and none of us is a winner for it.

lol true enough. Ironically, that same reasoning will open up the opportunity for Sony to snap up some smaller but still significant studios.

^they got this cow, hook...line....and sinker!
Mixed feelings. I hate seeing so much consolidation in the industry, and the scale of this is massive. At the same time, Activision is something of a turd pile that keeps getting more rank by the day. Microsoft won't solve all their problems overnight, but will probably be a big improvement.
Mostly though, our anti-trust laws are too lax. It's not enough to stop a corporation from becoming a monopoly, we need to start breaking them up for being just too damn big.
This deal is bringing a more healthy gaming industry. CMA knows this and like the others do and will say too.
this deal was always going to happen..
but it has been entertaining seeing Sony/PlayStation embarrass themselves making such a weak argument against it and watching Sony fanboys all of a sudden rally against the idea of exclusives when "exclusives" have been their battle cry for generations.. (and despite the fact that Call of Duty will remain multiplat)
i'll be glad when the deal is over and we can see where the goal post is officially moved next..
If this deal goes through, Sony fannies would be like "Who cares about ABK games anyway? When was the last game they made that was good? Nothing but GamePass filler". If this deal fails, Sony fannies would be like, "ROFLMAO, Xbox is doom and failed to become a monopoly. No games for Xbox. Sony is going to acquire more studios.😂".
Which one would it be?🤔

I don't know, but PS fans are playing Diablo 4 Open Beta in droves right now.

Lol yep... just have to sit back and laugh at them. Silly cows.
Don't know what the f**k is wrong with these watch dogs. So they just changed their tune because MS showed how Sony also engages in the same behavior? How does that change the fact that the very behavior is anti-competitive?
This isn't some kind of victory dance as most of us who knows what's going to happened and knows how such business works knew this deal is still going through and none of this surprises me despite both Sony/MS are anti-competitive & play dirty too.
Totally expected this outcome and not that I care if MS wins this or not. As long as Activision games still coming to PC, this merger means nothing to me.
Edit: Jim Ryan also sabotage his own company & ego when he admitted he just didn't want to see the deal go through so that also plays a big deal into CMA eyes.

Because of this merger their games are back on Steam, already a positive and it's not even finalized yet.
It’s amazing how much Cows were against this deal….it’s actually a great deal for them. Sony now have to up their game…rereleasing remastered remakes of old games isn’t going to cut it anymore, which means bigger, better games.
Even better, there’s really no excuse for not picking up an Xbox now.

Anybody suggesting anything relating MS and videogames is a great deal for anybody is outright delusional.

I guess you have been asleep for the past 4 years.
@palasta: ….and there’s me thinking you only post nonsense about politics. You post nonsense about gaming too?
Cool! We need a gutter level troll around here these days, hasn’t been a decent one for a while.
The power and decisions the FTC wants to be approved by lawmakers
— Post Up (@PostUp_bbb) March 27, 2023
-They want no mergers over $5 billion
-They want FTC to be able to block w/o courts being able to intervene
In the grey area:
-They want to be able to retroactively break up mergers that they’ve already…
For those cheering for the regulators/regulation… This shit is getting dangerous.

Or you are just triggered.
That can't be. I have been told that the game was going 100% going to fail. This would mean that those Sony fannies were wrong. Impossible. 😎
Sony Defense Force attaaaaaack!!!
But seriously it's tough to listen to a company cry poor mouth when they themselves engage in developer acquisition, exclusive games and timed deals that bar games from other platforms. We cannot be so shallow in our thinking to really believe Sony had a leg to stand on in this. The gaming business has glorified their proprietary nature for 40 years.... All to the detriment to gamers who quite frankly shouldn't have to concern themselves with multiple pieces of hardware each generation... Sonys endless baggy paper tears over this is a bit much.

Yeah I don't like the sound of that. The deal is good for MS to compete with Sony but bad for the industry. I hope it stops here.

Exactly. It was odd but not surprising when the same folks who were all about exclusives for over a decade cry about this move. When Xbox started its transition to Play Anywhere, instead of praising and pushing for buy once and play multiple places, they did the exact opposite. For years, the only games that were considered to be games were exclusives. This message was repeated over and over. I have gotten into so many arguments over this topic. Now, that the tables have turned and games are not coming to PS, we have this sudden outcry of injustice and now it is anti-consumer.🥱 Too late.
