Anyone else a little surprised by this given all the negative feedback? Looks like it will be hard finding the PS4 and XBONE til the 2nd quarter of next year. Nintendo really needed Mario Kart or Smash Brothers this year. They are gonna get rolled.

Hopefully, Microsoft gets a 25% marketshare in the US. Things are looking bad for the xbox ONE.

Not surprised at all, it seems to be a solid console with a lot of features that people want (maybe not you guys, but I don't consider you actual people...you are more like cartoon characters). Plus is has some great games, and all this for less than a new iPad.

I'm surprised... I thought the rabid gaming community was damn-near trying to boycott the Xbox. I have one preordered, though, so the news is in alignment with my own experiences.

If you only here what's said in SW it may surprise ya but the street is another thing and it's gonna sell well. I'm happy I ordered the speciall edition Xbox One Day One right off XBL since I'm getting the feeling they'l be harder to come by than 360's when it was launched and heck, now I'm thinking perhaps I'll order another and sell it on ebay for profit. :o :P

That's because hardly anyone would have ordered a 360 after the failure of the original Xbox. PS4 will outsell Xbox One comfortably.

So, the fact that the XB1 has higher pre-order numbers than it's predicessor 5 months before the console goes on sale somehow is indicative of "looking bad for the Xb1"?

LOL.

The 360 had very, VERY low pre-order numbers because people were waiting for the PS3. Nelson's stats ain't saying much.

Same here. This is good news for MS especially cause it hasn't even started its hardcore marketing blitz yet. With the NFL pre-season and regular season around the corner and 4 months to launch they have time to make their case why its an amazing system. I wouldn't make predictions about who will win the launch numbers or whatever, but MS is very slowly moving in the right direction. If you're a fan of their games and vision then its a good sign.

360 was impossible to find for a few months after the release. They were going for $600 + on Ebay 2 months after Christmas. I should know. I sold a few.

Microsoft really needs to hurry up and get the Subscription based models out and the deal with the major cable companies out. That will put the XBONE in really good shape, at least in the States to get control of the next gen market.

Yeah if/when your average person can call up their cable provider and have an installer bring a new Xbox One to their house (and set it up for them), then download all the games right from the console it will be in a league of its own. They aren't looking to battle for the existing market share, they are looking to bring in new people. And you better believe the cable companies will talk grandma into getting one for when the kids are over, even if she doesn't need one. The cable thing is a game changer.

Thinking about it the Xbox brand wasn't very popular back in 2005, so no, not surprised in that sense.

Surprised because Xbone looks like a piece of shit but slowly Microsoft has been fixing that problem.

LOL. Most average consumers aren't going to shell out $500 on a console just to have cable on a home gaming console.

Plus cable's already dying out, nor is it a game changer. Most people are now viewing shows through Apple TV's, Roku TV's, Netflix, Hulu Plus, smartphones, & tablets, etc.

They won't have to, it will probably just be a few more dollars on their monthly bill. Like getting a DVR.

EDIT: And no, cable is not "dying" and it never will.

expanding the userbase is bad it it means now they gotta appeal to false gamers and ruin the console with taking the focus off just gamers to mass kinect audience which means less games for gamers.

It is true that many people are drop cable bill and opt for netflix and video service, which make tv feature curious in gaming box when video service already available on system. Still can move system with deal to appear competitive. Does not mean grandpa who subscribe for fox news will use xbone, but MS will claim it as sale.

You're telling me that there are more preorders following a very successful XBox 360 than a piss poor Xbox? In other news, the sky is blue.
