Anyone else a little surprised by this given all the negative feedback? Looks like it will be hard finding the PS4 and XBONE til the 2nd quarter of next year. Nintendo really needed Mario Kart or Smash Brothers this year. They are gonna get rolled.

I dont recall 360 being considered all that big a deal before Gears of War came out.  I was still paying Socom 3 with people who had 360's with either RROD or just nothing they cared to play.

Not really. The Mass market is generally made up of casuals who are cluess about the ins and out of the industry. They just know this is the next Xbox and if they liked the 360, they want the X1.

Plus, the reality is that the 360 was way more popular than the Xbox. So there really wasn't a massive demand for the 360 at launch which means relatively low pre-orders. The 360 was extremely popular which means more pre-orders for the X1 as a result.

Good to hear, industry-wise. However, I fully expect them to struggle more next gen. They have a higher price point, and eventually will have less software content. Unless they pull a Sony, Microsoft will struggle post-launch. Even though they ended up selling less than Sony this gen, they did a great job getting market share.

If they could make a reliable console, improve Live, and concentrate on creating more IP they'll have a strong contender on their hands.
