I'm don't even like Sony, but i thnk its to early to say Sony lost.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
PS3 has lost,
Right now they'll just have to roll with the punches until the PS4
Which will prob come out a lil ealier then people expect.
Its too early to tell. There are TONS of people that dont follow games, that are familiar with the Playstation name. But if you are an avid gamer, then you probably realize that the PS3 is not offering alot right now in the terms of games.
We will see how things turn out this holiday season, but i think that M$ is gonna put the hurt on Sony with a price cut and the release of Halo3. Being that M$ is making $75 a console AND a die shrink it around the corner, they should have the ability to cut each console by $100 bucks. That will should knock the PS3 out of contention and make the 360 very attractive against the Wii

PS3 for March in Japan and NA - 265,098
Xbox 360 for March in Japan and NA - 216,003
Its selling fine for a console with only a few games and its current price tag. Lets see what happens when games with a current fanbase come out as opposed to depending on brand new IPs like Resistance and Motorstorm. I think its way too early to call this war but I think the PS3 still has a huge chance to do very well. They have their games with a large fanbase as well as the PS2 owners who havnt chosen a next gen console yet. What these gamers do will determine the outcome.

Thats funny. They should have fired him before he designed the PS3
April 30, 2007 - In an interview with EE Times, outgoing Sony executive Ken Kutaragi has revealed plans to continue working with Sony on the PlayStation 4, 5, and 6. The PS3 should also be well taken care of, as Kutaragi has already planned out the console's design changes and cost-reducing measures over the next couple years. The next step for the system is to further develop the PlayStation Network.
"As a matter of course, I have the vision of PlayStation 4, 5, and 6, which will merge into the network," Kutaragi says.
Ken KutaragiThe father of the PlayStation was waiting until the PS3 was released in Europe to start talking about future versions of the console. "We've introduced PS3 in Europe, so now I can openly talk about" future plans, he said.
Sony announced last week that Kutaragi would be stepping down from his position as President and Group COO of Sony Computer Entertainment on June 19. Although he will be primarily focused on independent projects, he will maintain a professional relationship with Sony. "Now I'm ready to start working with a much wider world," Kutaragi tells EE Times.

whats wrong with u noobs? Ps3 hasn't even released it main games yet but u noobs are talking ****. For most poeple, Its not mainly the 600 dollar price tag but why would I pay 600 if the games that are popular aren't even out yet. Its commmon sense. Not many people are going to buy the 360 elite. Only people who are going to buy it are people like me who want to use the 360 in place of a media PC. If it weren't for that, I would just get the premium. It has everything you need for gaming.

LOL...no I leave out Europe because Sony launched there and sold alot and even though the numbers are in the PS3s favor in Europe everyone will dismiss them as launch numbers so its the only way to avoid arguement. Europe has been buying plenty of PS3s.

The 360 being one year old is not a disadvantage but an advantage, look at the PS2 which is 6 years old and beat out ALL the next gen consoles in sales in NA for March. The fact that the 360 has one years worth of games and its biggest hit since Halo (GEOW) is an advantage not a disadvantage while the PS3 has a handful of games, most are new IPs or multiplats.
As for the Wii, it can outsell the PS3 and 360 thats fine, its a different system with different games and a different audience. It can live in harmony with the PS3 or 360, the PS3 and 360 with the same audience and similiar games cant. The Wii is not gonna take games away from the PS3 or 360 but if one of these two dominate eachother they can take games away from the other.

1. the 360 hasn't lowered its price like the ps2 did.
2. the extremely high attach rates with it's slowed sales tells me that it's mostly ppl that already own a 360 that are buying the games. they aren't drawing new ppl like you suggest.
3. I disagree. the wii's success will indeed take games away from the ps3/360. Publishers don't have unlimited resources. the more they focus on games for the wii, the less you'll see for the other consoles. that's always how it's been.

my biggest game in mind was forza believe it or not, and halo is up on par. i didn't even like the whole concept of gears of war when the xbxo came out but it blew my mind.
anyway. i think those "ps3 lost" articles are complete garbage and i don't understand why people spend time typing that. i like the ps3, it has a very slow start but playstation has done greatly these past generations and i expect it to continue doing that. i like the ps3 (though i'm not very amazed by the controller) and i think this generation the competition is going to be greater. xbox is showing it wants to be up there with the other two and ps3 will do the same.
anyway it'll be a tight competition and the "winner" will not leave the other two far behind. so i don't know why people keep on looking at who's in first place when that doesn't have an effect on us since all consoles will have enough support this generation.

It is already much cheaper then its direct competition, the reason its not selling well is because it depends on one region for its sales and are not doing much to change that.
The problem with the Wii is 3rd parties cant port a game made with the Wii in mind to the PS3 or 360 and visa versa. The hardware and control schemes are way too different. You also have to look at what games are selling on the Wii and what games sell on the PS3 or 360. Kane and lynch is not a game that would do well on the Wii but appeals to the audience of the PS3 and 360. I dont doubt that devs dont have unlimited resources but devs that make mature games have a better chance of feeding off the PS3 and 360s audience then the Wii. You have to look at how Capcom had to change thier plans on RE:UC. the wii is a very different console and will get support but it will be games that they think will sell and are cheap to make since they cant port like mini games and party games.

Good point..
proving the rumors about the 360's high failure rate is just that... a RUMOR...;)
You know that the guy doesnt have any clue about the issue when he says
"Nintendo's Wii simple, elegant design and low price are two reasons it's consistently outselling the PS3."
lol. simple elegant design? anyway, thought it was 360 vs ps3 with the wii on the sideline, laughing because its not competing with either.
its only just started, you cant say who will win or lose. heck the wii is selling very well now but you never know it might topple over.reyad-u
PS3 is selling at 2x the 360 price AND has no good games coming in the NEAR future, certainly not until late 2008, when 360 has all the best sellers and system sellers right NOW, in some months time we get everything, and then in 2008 far far more even than the whole PS3 lineup, frankly 360 lineup seems like 2x of what PS3 has best coming, and available FAR FAR FAR sooner, which is a HUGE plus for MS, unlike games in PS3 that could arrive as late as 2009, with FF13, MGS4, Killzone 2 nowhere to be found

it's much cheaper than the ps3 but it's still not cheap for a gaming system. ps2 got more than 70% of it's sales after it went to $199. the 360 is still much more than that.
Yes ports from ps3/360 to wii are bad. but if the wii can keep outselling it's competition by 2-1 or more every month, publishers will just make games for the wii and port them to the ps3/360 since they can easily run games designed for the wii (with reworked controls). although many games will probably not be much fun on the other systems if they where designed to use the wii mote. basically the port problem flips depending on what they think will sell more.
I don't buy the wii not being able to attract mature gamers. if we look at RE4 for GC it sold about 1.5 million and the ps2 version sold 1.8. that's not a huge difference considering the ps2 has 4 times the users. also with the breadth of users that the wii attracts i think there will be many that like the mature games. perhaps they will actually start getting more mature and less gory.
