[QUOTE="blue_hazy_basic"]With all the PS3 offers I really don't get why you would buy a BR player instead of a PS3mmirza23lol we think alike. hah yea, you're a bit faster than me tho ;)
Great
Once again we see a gaming console that is worth it only for the movies.
Great job Sony.
ok... I will be honest I would list all the games I have enjoyed on the ps3 this gen but I cant be bothered... Meh actually what the hell... Motersotrm Resistance R&C: TOD warhawk + all the updates Uncharted drakes fortune COD4 GT5p R6V2 wipeout HD Little Big Planet MGS4 And some I havent played yet: Heavenly sword SOCOM Resistance 2 Motersorm 2 R&C QFB And some to look forward to: Killzone 2, best graphics on a console and brilliant online gameplay :) Gran Turismo 5 MAG Heavy Rain Uncharted 2 So yeah... Eh? Once again? *scartches head* ??????
What other console had this deeply flawed argument used against it? PS2 is the only thing I can think of and if you are suggesting that the PS2 was only good for movies then please stop gaming.
It also sucks up like four to six times the energy of a actual blue ray player.sSubZerOo
I don't think your saving the environment with the kind've power we are talking about here. I'm into environmental issues. I read on Kotaku yesterday the Wii costs about $3 to use a year and the PS3 costs about $12 a year to use if you turn it off when you are done playing, the X360 was $11. Not a big deal either way. As a comparison I found this link that McDonalds of Switzerland as of 2005 uses 1.36 kWh per order for a total of 59.2 million kWh across 145 stores.Â

The ps3 would be perfect for me if they would have just put a dam IR port in there. That is why "non-Gamers" will not buy the ps3. You cant use it with a universal remote so they just pick up a stand alone player.
Mavlow
Well at least the controller is wireless and rechargable.
*is not surprised*
I thought it was common knowledge that the PS3 was one of the best blu-ray players on the market.
No surprise there.
It's the ONLY Blu-ray player that's well worth $400. For that, you practically get more bang in one sweet package.
It's funny how people still insist that people are buying PS3s for Blu-Ray only while you can find Blu-ray players for as little as $130 now.;)Jack_Bauer07
Indeed. Blu-ray is only a part of the many great things the PS3 can do.
yup. thats what i use it for mostlyogvampireHalf zing, half truth. I as well use it more for movies, but I play my share of games on it as well.... Soon Wall-E, soon....

Soon Wall-E, soon.... Great movie on Blu Ray, I'd recommend Tropic Thunder as well. I have a list of movies I need when I get the money. Wall-E, Tropical Thunder, Sweeney Todd, Beetlejuice, Dark Night + Event Horizon when they come out, probably a few of the sale Blus during Black Friday (Circuit City has some good deals going that day).
Funny. I've only used my PS3 to watch movies on it a handful of times (less than 5), where as, particularly lately, I have been playing either Killzone 2, or LittleBigPlanet nearly every day.0rinSince I have a collection of 70+ Blu-Rays at this point, I would say I have used it much more than 5 times for movies. Blu-Ray was a pretty big selling point for me behind LBP (oddly enough, I bought the PS3 in early 2007).

They (Blus) are almost impossible to scratch, so used markets are great, and usually much, much cheaper.

Umm... Owned? Thats not really alot of games, Munkey. I currently own over 40 games on the 360, and thats not even mentioning ones I have borrowed from my friends, or rented through Gamefly. Then again, you might have a life. :) Unfortunately, at the moment, mine has been put on hold. So I game. Alot. Ok, maybe too much, lol.[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"] It also sucks up like four to six times the energy of a actual blue ray player.TimstuffOh noz, the poor polar bears. Like i give crap. :P Blast it, man! Why? WHY? I mean, you have a sig with Terminator goodies in it, an Avatar with Chuckie boy, his third fist (concealed by the beard, of course), and hes holding a lightsaber. Behind him, obviously, are the inner corridor walls from the Death Star. We completely agree on the PETA post. But, but... you're a cow, and I'm a lem! It hurts me, man. To the core. :D
This is why people shouldn't get offended when people like myself say that there's a large number of people out there that's not really gamers who bought a PS3 for a blu ray player. Also this is why you can not assume just because 14 million signed up for PSN does not mean all 14 million are gamers because they have a nice selection of movies in the PSN Store and the only way you can go on is if you have a PSN account. And most of the time this is an indication why PS3 games aren't selling as well as the other gaming focused HD console.

Same kind of thing can be said about 360. I know a lot of 360 owners who just have it because it's a cheap system for Madden. :|

Madden is a game.So it's ok for me to generalize and say that half of 360 owners are just Madden players?
How many people bought a PS2 last gen just because it was a cheap DVD player? I don't think that hindered it from being the best system last gen.

I don't think that hindered it from being the best system last gen. SolidGame_basicHis argument was that people were buying the PS3 as a non-gaming movie player. You countered by saying that people were buying the 360 as a cheap game playing system. I am not sure how that refutes his point in the least. And you can generalize and say whatever you want. You aren't going to hurt my feelings. I am just saying you weren't really refuting his point.
I was under the impression this was not format wars so why is this being allowed to stay up?WilliamRLBakerFor giggles.
The PS3's Blu-Ray player is really top notch. Even watching movies like Sarah Marshall really show off the feature rich capabilities of Bl...with the right player.SolidTy
