BF2 MP was fun, until it turned into a blatant vehicle-whore extravaganza and spawn-camping fiesta...Verge_6
What about Project Reality?
EASILY BF2.
easily.
No question.
COD4 is good, but alot of the time its an absolute spam fest - full of grenades, spawn kills and door/ corner campers who just want to get kill streaks.
BF2 is nothing short of amazing when playing on a well populated server in a good squad. Its probably one of the best team based multiplayer experiences.
Battlefield 2, on a good server, not too populated, with people using proper teamwork in squads with communication is still one of the best online experiences around. But, when you run into a spawn camper, a bunny hopper, get killed by supplies going down a decline at 1 mph and many other bugs it tarnishes the experience. CoD4 is more consistent, more polished. Therefore (imo) it's better.
Regardless, Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat beats them both.

What about Project Reality?
Not as good as Forgotten Hope for BF1942, and for some reason, P:R caused some SERIOUS lag on my part.
they have forgotten hope for BF2 now also.
PR lags a lot for some people because it is a lot more demanding than Vanilla BF2. The maps are a lot larger, and models are more detailed, and they have some maps that Im rather amazed the engine can actually pull off, like an entire jungle map with foilage as thick as in Crysis.
I loved BF2. I stopped playing because of people in the map and the explosions were not powerful enough. You needed pin point accuracy with the RPG or the tank to kill someone. That got old but I do miss playing.

try some of the mods, they are generally more realistic.

I know, but FH2 only covers the African campaign. There isn't a tenth of the amount of contend the priginal FH provided. I don't think there's any news on the additions they're going to make to FH2 either, so it could be a while. I'm wondering what took them so long, when hey hardly had anything...

they did say they were gonna do all the other campagns though.
[QUOTE="samiup"]Battlefield 2 is THE best in this category. it is so realistic and correct. i wich the developer have put effort on developing a newer enhanced version of BF2 instead of wasting time and money on BF2142.
Verge_6
I don't think you could be anymore wrong. ;)
I agree, I actually enjoyed 2142 more, because of pods/Titans ect you got alot more action ( troop action ) as apposed to Battlefield 2 ...
1 Man raiding a Titan and whiping out the whole main room, RAMBO MEDIC FTW! :P

I was referring to the realism, actually. I don't think you want to hear my opinion on 2142. :P

Project reality for the win :D
And yeah, I think all the custom made PR maps are at least 4x the size of vanilla maps. amd there are several that are 8x as large. I think the real killer though is the removal of that fog that was all over the old BF2 maps or the massive increase in LOS before the fog kicks in anyways, It forces your video card render a ton more stuff at once. A big battle in the middle of the city on Al Basrah can even make my c2d 2.8ghz, 2gb ram, HD 2900pro lag every now and then (admittedly on max gfx/AA)
But there's nothing more epic than ambushing a big armor/land rover convoy with jihad cars and RPGs :P
i love battlefield 2 but it has so many faults and bugs that i find myself turning to cod 4 for a quick action fix.
it has no friends list (even though i can use xfire the voice over is too quiet)
it takes AGES to load- for cod within 20 seconds of clicking the icon im playing
it has a lot of bugs and the community is not as fun(ny) as any of the source games imo
dont get me wrong im sure if you get in a great clan with everyone speaking its amazing but alas it's not for me :(

I wanted to ask which mod is most played in BF2? I'm getting a bit bored of the vanilla version.

Here's to having high hopes for BF:Heroes and BF3!
BF2. Easily BF2.
Such a fantastic game, and still one of the best multiplayer games concieved.
And the people who winge about vehicles or campers are usually the ones who are killed by them frequently. This is comming from someone who pretty much stayed medic class and never uses vehicles (unless in need of a trip from A to B)
battlefield 2 has vehicles. theres nothing like holding your breath while your hiding around a corner as an enemy tank rolls past...the nade spam can be annyoing but i geuss its cool (explosions=t3h_w1n). ive always wanted to be knocked down by arty (and survive mostly intact)...
Never played BF2, but I like Frontlines Fuel of War a lot better than CoD4. So BF2 for me most likely._KenKittyragi_
Frontlines fuel of war= crappy short 3-4 hour single player game, and crappy multiplayer, lol I played the multiplayer for an hour, 80% of that time was spent dieing or respawning cause the enemy had parked 2! tanks on the last spawn point and just let us spawn and killed us, and since ANTI tank weapons take something like 3-4 shots to kill a full tank...lol auto repair for vehicleS? who'd ever thunk of a stupid thing like that.
Call of Duty 4 nearly if not totally perfected the genre. I think they aren't in the same category since BF2 has vehicles. COD 4 has the class, perk, and prestige functions which make it the best game in years for me. I have it on 360 and PC and my bro plays on PC and I play on 360. The idea of leveling when I kill and win games is really encouraging.
In BF2 there is no leveling so the gameplay ended up feeling like BF1942 with a skin pack. BF1942 was multiplayer genius. BF2142 was garbage in a box.

I think it is obvious that it had minimal if any effect on gameplay if I was unaware it existed after playing it for 6 months
Weapon unlocks, commander rank, stat recording ect.?I think it is obvious that it had minimal if any effect on gameplay if I was unaware it existed after playing it for 6 months
MadExponent
It wasent designed to make a big effect on gameplay like COD4s leving system, but it did still effect the gameplay to a degree.
