Why is everyone saying that. Is everyone reffering to Collectors edition cause i dont blame Activision; night vision goggles cost alot to make and if you dont want it dont buy it.

pc gamers think they're entitled to too much, and steal things if they don't get their way. :cry:Basically, PC gamers don't want to pay 10 extra dollars so call of duty can raise pc gaming from the grave.

£54.99 in the UK. I am not even going to bother to look for the rest of Europe. I think that's 5 or 10 pounds more than the average game.

yeah exchange rates sure, but they won't charge $90 for basic retail version in the US. Unless they're f'ing idiots.Actually, CoD: MW2 is under-priced... considering it's pedigree, it should cost a whole lot more.... 67gt500Yeah, if it was up to you. But not everyone has a monthly salary of $1.2 million like you do Bobby.

Looks like my cover's been 'compromised'... seriously though, and I'm not trying to be smug, but we're talking about a AAAA game here, already a huge commercial success and it's hasn't left the dock yet... not to mention the sequel to one of the best selling games of all time, and a sure contender for GotY... if it was up to me, then yes - people would be paying a lot more for it...

Cute... actually the short list for pack-ins for MW3 has already been tabled. Having said that, you, sir, have a bright future in marketing... you, uh, interested in a job, by any chance? You seem to have a firm grasp on how this industry works...
Actually, CoD: MW2 is under-priced... considering it's pedigree, it should cost a whole lot more.... 67gt500Its this kind of mentality that makes IW and Activision mainly think that its okay to price the game 10 dollars higher. I guarantee you we're looking at the same 5 hour campaing and similar mp with some new tweaks. Surely not in need of a price increase its not like the content has been increased. Don't even get me started on day 1 map packs.

LOL GOTY AAAA?? HAHAHAAAH What a joke.. this game is a REHASH! COD5 was just COD4 with crappier guns and new skin.. I have seen FREE user mods with the exact same effect for other games. COD 6 is going to be no different.. It's disgusting that there's been a COD game every year for the past 3 years priced at $60+..
I'll be passing on Call of Rehash 6. Especially when Battlefield games offer epic Land/Sea/Air warfare.

suit yourself.. but, we'll see who's laughing when the reviews start rolling in...Try paying more for your games than those across the pond in the first place and then have that smug **** Kotick tell you they're jacking up the price by 37.5% of the RRP for more or less all games (£40). In most cases you'll probably end up paying less really, you can find most new games for £35 at least quite easily. But no, Activision just couldn't help but raise the prices, good and honest family businesses like those are having a hard time surviving throughout this economic turmoil!
It probably won't matter to most people on this board, no offence to any Americans, but a lot of the time it can seem as though you're oblivious to other parts of the world, what with NPD being so important etc. But when you're shafted with prices in the first place and then shafted further, you feel the rage. If Activision get away with this crap then say hello to that rage as well, those of you that won't be affected by their price increases (i.e console gaming Americans), if Activision can get away with it then everybody else will more than likely follow suit.
Seriously, CoD is NOT that good, the only people who whole heartedly think it is some kind of messiah amongst shooters are the people who blank reality why they fixate their attention on the screen, anxious to level up some more, get some more +10's, another prestige. When you step away from CoD you quickly realize how it never really was that good, you were just obsessed with leveling up and unlocking new stuff, kind of like in WoW, another Activision product.
You get the point, I hope.
Most stuff has had a price increase if the game costs more to make then they have to charge more to make money. Not really a big dealIts overpriced in Europe and the UK I believe which is why we're seeing some rage about it, plus the PC version (traditionally $50) is going to cost $60 in the US.

Premium product? That is just funny. Also reviews are usually biased because most are console oriented and Modern Warfare 2 suits their casual, simplistic tastes.the_ChEeSe_mAn2If their taste are casual and the reviews meet though goals. Wouldn't that make them non-biases because the game meets the goals that where the standard of the review to begin with? Unless you expect more out of the review than you should. The reviews are for all gamers not the 1% that posts on forums and think they are better than so called casuals who would just laugh at us and then go back to enjoying the game.

Exactly! Pretty sad too....
here in the netherlands it's 60 euro for the regular pc version.......... that's about 10 euro more then most games at release.
and 60 euro is about 84 dollars..........
they are screwing us big time
What, EXACTLY, is the cause of the $10 increase? The game didn't cost more to produce, it's not bringing in any innovations as far as gameplay goes, the graphics are the same as the already unimpressive Call of Duty 4, I just don't see where that $10 is going (besides Activision's pockets, of course). They're charging 20% more for a game that probably cost LESS to make, and they are pocketing that money. I'm not buying this game.
I'm actually surprised this type of pricing hasn't happened sooner. Yea the console version has a royalty fee but most people don't know that. They're charging $60 because they can. It's a bold move but they won't have much competition this year so it will probably work out for them. What, EXACTLY, is the cause of the $10 increase? £54.99 in the UK. I am not even going to bother to look for the rest of Europe. I think that's 5 or 10 pounds more than the average game.
£15 more than the average new game.Seriously, I've grown so damn cynical. I now expect the worst from everyone. This $70 future for "premium products" I see as an inevitability. A global, permanent price hike for high profile games. There's no use *****ing about it, it'll happen regardless of your standpoint on the matter. Resistance is futile. You've brought it upon yourselves you dumb basterds. But in no way am I innocent, I bought the Bad Company Gold Edition for ****s sake. But at least now I've seen the light. If you buy Modern Warfare 2 for "£55", you are the enemy. I will hunt you down and poke you in the eye. All 2 million of you...
As for the "issue" of Modern Warfare 2's quality, you all who for some reason want it to be bad are seriously delusional. Infinity Ward employs some talented ****ing individuals. The quality of Activision's games has never really been the issue. Which is what makes their practices that much more devious. I.e. they're succeeding. Due to the stranglehold of that one franchise, Activision is essentially directing the entire damn industry. Oh the humanity.
Tony Hawk Ride will be bad though. It looks like a dumb, desperate band-aid, and I think people will pick up on that. Also, it's not cheap.
Van Halen I don't expect to perform well in terms of sales considering its time of release and it competing with fivethousand other guitar games this year.
So that's the slight glimmer of hope I can see here.

Remember the big ad campaign talked about in an article here on this site? Or how about those voice cameo's, they are not cheap. I personally hope this comes back to bite them because I don't think people would be as upset if the money went into packing more maps on the disc and longer campaign versus advertisement and cameos.
it's the first game in a long time since launch games. the majority of games if you don't bother shopping around cost 39.99. if the look around you can get them for 30-35 mark (less if you're lucky, or if its a small game). Its £44.99 in the uk not £54.99 as thats the rrp which nowhere in there right mind charges the rrp. its not the first game at this price wont be the last
