Why does everyone hate the Halo 3 campaign? I actually really enjoyed it, more than the MP.
Why does Black Ops get hated on as well? It's actually balanced unlike WaW/MW2 and the maps are much better than WaW/MW2. I also only played the PS3 version which is supposed to be the worst version. Seems like people are just hating on it because it has Call of Duty on the front cover.

Anticlimactic ending
The Guilty Spark Boss fight at the end is stupid

Cortana= That level sucks
All the flood levels in general. The flood has been in 3 Halo games, and in all 3 of them they were never fun to fight. Dedicating the final stretch to them was the single stupidest decision Bungie could have made. The Flood were at their best when they were a third party in your fight against covenant like in Halo 1.
Schizophernic level design: It's just all over the place. For every good mission in Halo 3(Tsavo Highway, The Storm, Sierra 117, Ark, Covenant) there is one that is either equally mediocre(Flood, Crow's Nest, Halo) or a benchmark for all things awful(Cortana)
It's too similar to Halo 2, and at that point the formula was getting hella stale.
All the work they did on Arbiter in Halo 2 was essentially for nothing. He might as well have not even been in the series with how he was such a non factor at the end.
Throw in halo's other cobwebs of weak gunplay, over blaoted weapons list, moronic friendly AI, and some of the most mediocre story telling the medium has to offer and you have a storm of reasons people tend to dislike the game. Personally it was a solid experience for all the good missions, but it's such a missed opportunity.while i agree that the guilt spark fight was dumb(it could have been done in the cutscene) the warthog run at the end is just fantastic, just as much as the first. You literally feel compelled to keep going, while in the first, apart from the timer, you didn't feel it. And in halo 3 you have a competent gunner as well. Oh and yes, Cortana is bad.
The flood were good when you were fighting the covenant as well, but floodgate wasn't an awful level. You have to take into consideration that halo 3 was the first halo for many people, so in there eyes that flood was new and awesome, and floodgate was an excellent introduction(not as good as CEs though).
As for the level design, its good in all levels except Cortana really. crow's nest was a good introduction, and halo really gave the feeling of "finish the fight". The problem i had was the difficulty being all over the place. Sierra 117 is one of the hardest levels i've ever played, but the next level, crows nest was a stroll in the park.
And how is it similar to halo 2? :? Halo 2 had the arbiter levels that relied on a certain amount of stealth(at first), and the ****c MC levels. It was certainly more of a losing battle, as its the only halo game were the "bad guys" win. as Earth is losing the flood is all-powerful, and Cortana is lost. halo 3 , near the end. has a much lighter appeal. And, you're right, to a certain extent, about the Arbiter being useless in halo 3. yes, you never play as him, but he provides as a good co-op player alone or with a friend. He kind of represents he Elites as a whole, and how they have yet to truly trust humanity, but fight against Truth nonetheless. Also, in the later editions, he's an excellent Ai buddy(probably the only friendly AI who's actually useful in the whole halo series). Have you seen in the last level? he gets out his sword and rips the flood to pieces.
As for the weak gunplay, i have no idea what you're talking about other than bad sound effects. And how is a big weapons list a bad thing?
