It's so cool to hate COD now... I remember back when COD4 was released people were going crazy over it and hailing it as THE definitive console shooter. So they release one every year - big deal? If you don't like it, don't buy it and get over it. I have COD4, I skipped WAW, and I bought MW2 very cheap later on. MW2 does suck but COD4 was and still is an awesome game. For this reason it's not like BO has to be bad. In fact, Treyarch finally have the chance to 1-up IW since MW2 was a pretty crappy game in relation to the other CODs. It all depends on whether Treyarch have the stones to do their own thing and not follow blindly with how MW2 turned out. At present, it seems that they are trying to do their own thing so it's looking good. I really don't see why Treyarch wouldn't fix the bugs that plague MW2's multiplayer and give us a game nearer to COD4.
To conclude,

Hahadouken
It has very little to do with it releasing every year dude.
Unless you've been living under a rock you know that Activision has actively been throttling the life out of this franchise and you're getting a product that looks nice and shiny on the outer shell, but is filled with poop, and tears, and the blood of their poor employees.
Acti can suck it, COD can suck it, I have principles and I won't be touching COD no matter how many sheep follow the herd and buy it because they've been conditioned to. COD4 is the last good COD game there will likely ever be. Remember Guitar Hero?
You don't know that yet; why don't you at least wait until Black Ops is released before you decide if it sucks or not?
It's no question that Activision screwed over IW badly after MW2 released, but there's no evidence that they "sucked the life out of" them during MW2's production. If I'm mistaken you can provide me with a link but I don't remember hearing any problems between IW and Activision until after MW2 was released; in fact, it's probably the contrary. We all know MW2 had crazy marketing and I think it would be safe to assume Acti would have supported the production of their games just as well.
I don't think the Rock Band/Guitar Hero analogy woks entirely well with COD considering COD had both IW and Treyarch working alternately on the series. So IW made COD4 and then MW2 two years apart... this is the usual amount of time that passes before we see sequels (Gears of War, Uncharted, Killzone 2 and 3, etc.) and I think IW were pretty happy to work on those games. Treyarch released WaW in November 2008 and are now coming out with BO - again, the standard two year difference between sequels. In terms of game development, I'd hardly say that they're getting the "life sucked out of them."
I know Activison's practices suck but at the end of the day I'm simply a gamer and I buy games I like. BO is definitely not a game I'll be buying day one anyway; I'll wait a few months until I can get it cheaper pre-owned like I do with most games. Hell I'm not even sure if I'll buy it yet, I'll check it out first and see if it's any good, but I won't just dismiss it just because it's another COD game or has the Activision seal on it. I WANT the game to be good. MW2 sucking leaves a lot to be desired for since COD4 and if BO pulls it off it would be great.
